Episode 103
“Seoul Morning, you bastards! We have to destroy this at this opportunity!!”
Rough conversations are rampant at the Liberty Korea Party general meeting.
The government wasn’t the only one outraged by Seoul’s morning report.
The Korean Party lawmakers were seething with anger and on the verge of exploding.
The general meeting of the Korean Party, where all the members gathered without exception, was so scary that it could be described as murderous.
“No matter how hastily the President spoke about the policy, this is disrespectful to President Kim Jong-guk, who is called the hero of the Republic of Korea!”
“That’s right! And what? Dictatorship? From now on, we must cut off all ties with these authors, including interviews! This is way beyond the pale!”
Even lawmakers who are usually called anti-Kim are raising their voices to denounce Seoul Morning News.
The Korean Party was not made up entirely of so-called Kim Jong-guk faction lawmakers.
Because of his usual principle of minimizing his intervention in party affairs, there were not many lawmakers in the Liberty Korea Party who could be clearly said to be members of the Kim Jung-guk faction.
But apart from that, at least most of the Liberty Korea Party lawmakers respected President Kim Jong-guk.
It was Kim Jong-guk who created all of these things in less than 20 years: national unification, military power, democratization, and the world’s second-largest economy.
However, he was a person with no material desires, to the point where he always had a deficit, saying that he would donate his own property.
He was a person you couldn’t help but respect, even if you didn’t want to.
At first, there were many lawmakers who disliked the president because he was too picky and strict with the party, but now, even though there are anti-Kim members in the Liberty Korea Party, there is no one who truly dislikes the president.
No, rather, President Kim Jung-guk was the pride of the Liberty Korea Party members.
However, instead of criticizing him appropriately, they attacked him in a way that put him down.

There have been a lot of articles coming out recently that go way beyond the line.
Representative Min Jeong-gi crumples up the morning edition of Seoul newspaper he was holding in his hand.
Then he throws the morning paper Seoul on the floor and says.
“From today, our Liberty Korea Party will not conduct any interviews with Chosun Seoul. If any of our Liberty Korea Party members interview or assist Chosun Seoul, they will be immediately expelled. We have no intention of engaging in any dialogue with media outlets that write such fake articles!”
And then he tramples on Seoul with his feet and says:
“And our Korean Party says here. Our party will pass the so-called Anti-National Traitors’ Property Recovery Act, which the President mentioned, to recover the property acquired through the treasonous acts, faster than ever before. We will not allow the descendants of anti-national traitors to live in luxury in this country any longer!”

Jeong Myeong-seok, floor leader of the Liberty Korea Party.
He was a representative figure of the opposition party within the ruling party.
He has always been at odds with the president.
He has always expressed opposition to the passage of several bills in the past.
However, because he was a person with such great family background and career, he was able to rise to the position of floor leader of the Liberty Korea Party despite being a representative anti-Kim figure.
Then a call comes into his cell phone.
“Who are you?”
“Representative of the House! Here we go!”
When he picks up the phone, Nam Su-hyeon, the president of Jogan Seoul, greets Jeong Myeong-seok in a friendly, bright voice.
“Who are you, and why are you calling me that out of nowhere?”
But when he heard Jeong Myeong-seok’s voice, it was cold.
Rather, even though he clearly knew that the voice was Nam Soo-hyun, Jeong Myeong-seok asked Nam Soo-hyun who it was.
“No, hyung. Can’t you recognize my voice? It’s Nam Su-hyeon from Seoul Jogan!”
When he hears the name Nam Soo-hyun, Jeong Myeong-seok’s voice becomes even colder.
“It’s Mr. Nam. What’s going on?”
‘What is it? It’s so different from usual? What’s wrong with this guy?’
Nam Soo-hyun is puzzled by the reaction of Representative Jeong Myeong-seok.
This wasn’t the first time Nam Soo-hyun had contacted Jeong Myeong-seok.
No, to be exact, we actually met often.
Nam Soo-hyun was the president of a media company and had connections to the political world, but Jung Myung-seok was also a politician who was friendly with media owners and reporters, so Nam Soo-hyun and Jung Myung-seok saw each other often.
But clearly, in Nam Soo-hyun’s memory, Jeong Myeong-seok was not someone who spoke so coldly.
He was a man with incredible sociability, to the point where he could make anyone, no matter how many enemies they were, his own person after just 30 minutes of conversation.
‘What’s going on?’
Nam Soo-hyun thought it was nothing serious, thinking that there must have been something personally upsetting about him, and began to explain why he had called.
“Oh, it’s not something else. It seems like the relationship between the president and our editor-in-chief Yoo has gotten a little worse recently. Also, I think it would be a waste of national power for our Chosun Ilbo Seoul to stand against the government. So, I called to ask Representative Jeong to speak to the president and ask him to resolve the misunderstanding between him and editor-in-chief Yoo and to improve relations with Chosun Ilbo Seoul.”
Nam Soo-hyun asks Jeong Myeong-seok as politely as possible.
But Jeong Myeong-seok’s voice was still cold.
“Well, I’m not someone who has much interaction with the Blue House, so I don’t know if I can do a good job of establishing that kind of relationship. If that’s what you want, I think it’s probably faster to look for someone else.”
‘This guy, really, why is he like this?’
When Jeong Myeong-seok says something that seems to reject him, Nam Soo-hyun looks flustered and quickly continues speaking.
“How could that be? Even though they are the opposition party within the ruling party, Representative Jeong Myeong-seok is the floor leader in name only. If he could say something, wouldn’t the president listen to him to some extent? And in the first place, wasn’t this the president’s fault? To be honest, does it make sense to bring up something that happened decades ago? Isn’t that right? Representative Jeong, and honestly, if we fight with Seoul Morning News, it won’t be beneficial for the government and the ruling party, right?”
President Nam criticizes the president a bit harshly.
It was a possible statement because it was judged that Jeong Myeong-seok would not have good feelings toward the president as he is an opposition party member within the ruling party.
But Jeong Myeong-seok’s answer was very different from what Nam Soo-hyeon had imagined.
“Phew.”
Jeong Myeong-seok lets out a sigh.
Then he starts screaming loudly.
“Hey, this dog!”
Jeong Myeong-seok’s swear words penetrate President Nam Soo-hyun’s cell phone and strike his ears.
Nam Soo-hyun asks in confusion.
“Why are you suddenly like this? Sir… … .”
Jeong Myeong-seok continues to swear without stopping.
“Are these bastards really crazy? At first, we tried to tolerate it. If the media can’t even criticize the president, then they’re not doing their job as the media. But what? The president’s hidden past? Making fun of the people? You must know what President Kim has been doing for the past 20 years, so why are you writing such fake articles?”
President Nam Soo-hyun looks flustered and tries to stop Jeong Myeong-seok.
“Hey, why are you doing this? Representative Jeong, we’ve only known each other for a day or two, right?”
“Ha. If I hadn’t been involved in politics, I think I would have at least had a conversation with a pro-Japanese collaborator like you! Have you forgotten what your grandfather used to do?”
Jeong Myeong-seok’s grandfather is Jeong Seok-ju.
He was an independence activist who even received the Order of Merit for National Foundation.
As such, I actually felt uncomfortable talking to the descendants of pro-Japanese collaborators.
But because he was a politician, he tolerated them and continued his relationship with them.
But this was going way beyond the pale.
Trying to bury all of those things, saying that they happened decades ago, was also a denial of his grandfather’s independence movement.
Nam Soo-hyun tries to make excuses somehow.
“Oh, I know. But aside from that, isn’t it decades ago now? Is there really any need to bring them up again and cause trouble like this?”
“Haa, this conversation is not going well. Conflict? This is only a conflict for you! It’s impossible to communicate with beasts, not human cubs.”
Nam Soo-hyun gets excited at the word beast.
“What, what did you say? You little beast? Don’t you regret saying that!”
“If their ancestors sold out their country, then as human beings, their descendants should at least have some shame about it, but since they don’t have that, then they are naturally beasts. I was wrong!”
“You! Two, let’s wait and see! Do you think you’ll be okay after humiliating me like this? Don’t you know that political power is temporary after all! Our Chogan Seoul will fight to the end!”
“Haa, I can’t understand a single word that little beast is saying.”
Nam Soo-hyun’s face turns red.
Even though Jeong Myeong-seok couldn’t see his face, he seemed to know what was wrong with his face from the way his voice trembled.
“What, what did you say… … !!!”
“Get out! Don’t ever contact me again! You little beasts!”
Jeong Myeong-seok, who is called the opposition party within the ruling party.
Even he was angry about this incident.
The descendants of pro-Japanese collaborators are living well for generations without shame.
And, crucially, the endless fake news about their president, who was their pride and joy.
And even he, who seemed to not have a good relationship with the president, was a source of pride for Kim Jong-guk.
“These bastards… Where is the one who should attack… …! How dare they… … the president!”
Even after hanging up the phone, Jeong Myeong-seok’s anger showed no signs of subsiding.

The Korean Party’s anger was ultimately expressed in the National Assembly.
Usually, not all members of the National Assembly attend a plenary session.
There were some assembly members who could not attend due to local events, and others who could not attend due to poor health or overseas training.
That is why a significant number of members usually do not participate in plenary sessions.
However, in the vote on the property recovery law for the descendants of these traitors, every single member of the Korean Party participated without exception.
The chairman, who is from the Korean Party, was also furious and used his authority to table the bill.
The bill passed faster than ever before.
“I hereby declare that the bill to recover property from traitors has been passed with 392 votes in favor!”
-Bang! Bang! Bang!
The Speaker of the House strikes the gavel and declares the bill passed.
And the next bill is on the table.
“The following is a question for or against a special investigation into the corruption of Nam Su-hyeon, CEO of Chogan Seoul, including the accounting fraud. I will also personally bring this to the table using my authority.”
As the bill to recover pro-Japanese assets was passed, this anger led to anger at the Seoul Metropolitan Government and directly led to a special prosecution.
Voting begins immediately and the special prosecutor’s motion is also passed with an overwhelming majority.
Nam Soo-hyun tried to block the special prosecution somehow by apologizing and contacting the Liberty Korea Party members he knew, but not a single Liberty Korea Party member answered his calls.
The bill was passed so quickly and aggressively that some media outlets called it a runaway.
Rather, the president himself came forward and tried to dissuade them, saying that if the bill was passed so quickly, it could end up being a hasty bill, but the anger of the Liberty Korea Party was beyond imagination.
To that extent, Kim Jung-guk’s significance within the Liberty Korea Party has grown.
So in the end, the bill to recover the assets of traitors was passed and the ball was in the president’s court.
Kim Jong-guk speaks while looking at the State Council members.
“Originally, I would have vetoed a bill that was passed so quickly, but for now, let’s just leave it as is. In the end, speed is important in these types of bills.”
President Kim approved the bill at the State Council meeting and at the same time began work on recovering pro-Japanese assets based on the information he had and received from Yoo Ho-geun.
