1979, Manager Kim is Inheriting Dictatorship! - Chapter 36
Only Krnovel
Episode 36
“Are you the mastermind, Lieutenant Kim Jin-su?”
“.. .. .. .. ..”
The terrorist kept his mouth shut and said nothing, whether out of shock or for some other reason.
“Are you planning to hold out like that without saying anything until the end? I guess you still don’t understand the situation. All of your plans have failed.”
“So… what do you want me to do?”
After being urged several times, he finally begins to open his mouth.
“Will the North actually move for you guys? Even if the operation is successful, they may or may not move, but do you think the rotten people above in North Korea will move for you guys if the operation fails?”
The terrorists remained silent and continued to listen to what I was saying.
“The Burmese government is already extremely angry. Even if we were alive, the place where you committed terrorism was the grave of General Aung San, the most respected person in Burma. This is absolutely not something that can be overlooked.”
“Do you think we’d fall for that kind of talk?”
“Don’t get excited. Just be honest and say, ‘I carried out an attack on South Korean President Kim Jong-guk under the orders of Jang Song-woo, Jang Song-thaek’s older brother.’”
When the names Jang Song-taek and Jang Song-u came out of my mouth, all three terrorists blinked in surprise.
Confuse them with information you find out through search.
The fact that the other party knows more information than you always causes confusion for the negotiating party.
“Comrade Lieutenant… What do we do now…?”
“Comrade Jinsoo···!”
The two subordinates below only look at their superior, Lieutenant Colonel Kim Jin-su.
Lieutenant Kim Jin-su looked at the two agents for a moment, then looked at me and asked.
“Huh.. what do you want? And what can we do for you if you give it to us?”
“Confess. In front of the reporters and broadcasters. I’ll make room for you. Who in the North ordered this, and who was the target of this terror attack? But you can’t tell anyone that I’m alive. The price is… I’ll spare your life. It won’t be easy, but I’ll talk to the Burmese government later and try to get you out of the country.”
Their end in history was miserable.
Even after Burma and North Korea reestablished diplomatic relations, North Korea refused to repatriate the terrorists, claiming they had no ties to its country.
It was used by North Korea and then eventually abandoned.
“Choose wisely, at least I’m not one of those pigs in North Korea who don’t keep their promises.”
###
DEFCON 2 is declared, an emergency cabinet meeting is held, and all cabinet members attend, raising their voices and arguing fiercely with each other.
“Prime Minister. No matter what, this is not an all-out war!”
“That’s right. The United States will certainly not agree.”
“And it hasn’t been confirmed yet that the terrorist is from North Korea.”
While there were some State Council members who vehemently opposed it, saying it was not an all-out war, there were others who did not.
“What are you talking about! You should go to the presidential palace right now and have Kim Il Sung cut off this bastard’s balls!”
“That’s right! If you just sit back and do nothing when the President is treated like that, then do you think you’ll fight when other citizens are treated like that?”
“We need to raise DEFCON to 1 immediately and launch a preemptive strike!”
Prime Minister Lee Hwa-sung shows the State Council members the details of the negotiations with the United States. This is to persuade the State Council members who are against war.
“Would you like to see this? This is what President Kim negotiated with the United States in the past.”
The content is that if the South Korean president dies from a North Korean terrorist attack or is unable to perform his duties, he will transfer wartime operational control to the South Korean Army Chief of Staff.
He reads the documents handed over by the State Council members and asks in surprise.
“Is this real?”
“Did Mr. President anticipate this situation?”
The Prime Minister answers calmly.
“The President is someone who witnessed several terrorist incidents, starting with the axe incident at Panmunjom during the Lee Jung-hwan presidency. He thought that something like this could happen to him one day, so he conducted these negotiations with the United States in utmost secrecy.”
“Well… But isn’t it still difficult to confirm that it was North Korea’s doing? If it was another country’s crime…”
Then a secretary runs into the conference room.
“What’s going on? We’re in a cabinet meeting.”
“that is..”
Then he whispers something into the Prime Minister’s ear.
The Prime Minister’s face becomes serious as he listens.
“.. .. .. Okay. Go ahead.”
The secretary leaves and one of the cabinet members asks the prime minister:
“What is it, Prime Minister?”
“It is said that the criminal who was caught in Burma has confessed. There are three terrorists in total. All of them are North Korean nationals. They are all trained soldiers, and it is said that Jang Song-taek’s older brother Jang Song-woo and a man named Heo Dam led the attack. And they confessed that the attack was aimed at President Kim Jong-guk.”
“These little bastards!!”
“What are you doing, Prime Minister! Make a decision now! How long are you going to just watch?”
As the truth becomes known in detail, harsh words and actions burst out that make it hard to believe it is a State Council meeting.
There were no more opposition from any of the cabinet members.
Prime Minister Lee Hwa-sung speaks solemnly to the State Council members.
“Now all the circumstances are clear. They committed a terrorist attack against our head of state, President Kim Jong-guk, and this is tantamount to declaring all-out war against us. From this moment on, on behalf of President Kim Jong-guk, I hereby issue a DEFCON 1 order to all forces.”
###
DEFCON 1 is declared and all forces are prepared for combat.
And this fact quickly spread to the United States, China, and the Soviet Union.
The airport was packed with foreigners staying in Korea, with the exception of some reporters, rushing to leave the country.
The United States was in a lot of trouble of its own, but the Soviet Union and China were in even worse trouble.
This is because the cause of the war was overwhelmingly in South Korea.
“Haa.. What do you say? The North Korean authorities.”
“They are saying that it has nothing to do with them and that it is all a fabrication by the South.”
“You’re saying something like that even though I already confessed!”
Soviet Secretary General Yuri Andropov angrily reprimands.
Although Andropov was a reformist leader, he was much more hardline toward the West than his predecessor, Brezhnev.
But even so, in the current situation, there was no reason to support North Korea.
“Anyway.. these seeds.. eueueueueu..”
“Are you okay, Chief Secretary?”
But Andropov’s rule did not last long.
The biggest problem is chronic kidney disease.
It was already nearly impossible to perform one’s duties properly.
“Haa.. haa.. it’s okay.”
Just then, a secretary comes in from outside the room.
“Sir, this is a call from U.S. President Carter.”
“What? Change it now!”
Secretary Andropov, who received the call, first asks President Carter:
“What are we going to do about this war? What does America think?”
“Let’s do this. If China and the Soviet Union do not enter the war, the United States will not deploy its troops in an all-out war.”
“Are you saying that we should leave this war as just a war between South and North Korea?”
“Yes, that’s right. Of course, I’ll allow them to provide war supplies. What do you think?”
It wasn’t a bad suggestion.
If this had happened, the path to World War III could have been prevented.
And to some extent, we could maintain our loyalty to North Korea by providing war supplies.
But there is one problem.
The US military is already stationed in South Korea.
“.. .. .. Aren’t there already American troops in Korea?”
“The U.S. military in Korea will be limited to protecting nearby residents. I promise.”
“Are you serious? Then whether North Korea wins or South Korea wins, let them fight amongst themselves. Is that what you’re saying?”
“Yes. Or would you rather see the end of the world?”
The end of the world.
Nuclear war.
It was an eerie word that meant World War III.
Andropov was a tough leader, but he was not a stupid one.
It was decided what to choose.
###
As soon as DEFCON 1 was issued, the North Korean military began responding first upon hearing the news.
The North Korean forward units of the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Corps were the first to fire their self-propelled guns that they were so proud of.
A slow-moving self-propelled gun that takes about 30 minutes to prepare flies toward the northern part of Gyeonggi Province.
But the shell they fired first was only once.
There was some damage, but it was very minor.
As soon as the shells flew, the units in the contact areas, including Paju, Yeoncheon, and Cheorwon, began a counterattack using the K9 self-propelled howitzers they had been training with.
Unlike slow and inaccurate self-propelled guns that can fire once every five minutes, self-propelled guns can fire several rounds per minute and hit precise locations.
Kwakwakwang!! Kwakwakwang!!!!
The moment the K9 self-propelled howitzer started firing simultaneously.
In an instant, North Korea’s forward units became a battlefield.
“Eww..!!!!”
Until now, the North Korean military had thought that they were superior in everything else, at least in the army.
But, when we suddenly saw this absurd level of power gap, it was bound to be a mess.
The following is an article written by a foreign correspondent who visited a forward unit where North Korean troops were stationed after the war.
[K9 This ridiculous self-propelled gun made in Korea swept through the area, leaving nothing behind. The only thing that proved that there had been a North Korean unit here was this one North Korean flag that had turned to ashes.]
###
“These little bastards!!!”
Kim Il-sung becomes enraged when he hears news of the continued defeats of the forward units.
“I’m sorry, Comrade Chairman..”
The man who delivered the news waits, trembling and anxious.
Because he never knew when that anger would come upon him.
But the man no longer had to feel anxious.
Because that anger came right back at him.
Kim Il-sung pulls out a gun and, without a moment’s hesitation, blows off the head of the man who brought him the news.
bang!!
The man collapses on the spot, bleeding profusely.
“You little bastards..! What on earth are you doing that you’re getting pushed around like this by those South Korean guys!”
Kim Il-sung shouts in anger, holding a gun in one hand.
“Tell the Chief of Staff to come in immediately!”
It would have been absurd to call in a general who was commanding the entire army during a war, but such an absurd thing was possible in North Korea.
Not even 30 minutes later, Chief of Staff Oh Keuk-ryeol came running in naked.
“Did you…call? Comrade Leader!”
puck!!!
Kim Il-sung’s shoe kicks Oh Geuk-ryeol’s knee.
Even though he is the Chairman of the General Staff, Kim Il-sung treats him like a corporal treats a private.
“What are you little brats doing! What should we do to get the forward units to get pushed back without being able to do anything?”
“I’m sorry.. The artillery unit in the south is stronger than we thought.. I’m sorry!!”
Kim Il-sung takes out a bloody pistol and speaks to Oh Geuk-ryeol’s head.
“I won’t tell you twice. If you keep losing, I’ll replace you guys right away. Got it?”
“Yes!! I understand! Comrade Leader!! I will achieve victory by any means possible with the Juche revolutionary ideology!”
