#3. It’s going to be an unforgettable night
2023.06.09.
‘When did you see that again?’
Yerin tried to act calm.
“I just thought I’d leave because I was bored.”
“Is that so?”
The man took a sip of champagne. He
didn’t take his eyes off Yerin.
“That’s strange. It seemed like you ran away as soon as we made eye contact.”
Yerin swallowed hard at the words that hit the nail on the head.
He was right.
She made eye contact with the man and was about to leave
right away. She was so flustered because she had no idea the man would be so persistent in asking questions.
“I think you saw it wrong. I’ve never seen it before.”
“I see.”
“Yes, why would I run away after looking in that direction?”
He said it to make her feel certain.
The man swirled his glass of champagne and agreed with Yerin.
“That’s why. That’s why it’s even weirder.”
“… … .”
“Where have we seen each other before?”
Yerin’s eyelashes fluttered.
Of course I’ve seen him.
The man is Chae Hyun, the head of the display division of Jiseok Electronics where Yerin works. He
wasn’t Yerin’s boss, but she had seen him a few times while going back and forth to work.
Even if you don’t work at Jiseok Electronics, there’s probably no Korean citizen who doesn’t know Lee Hyun.
His looks were outstanding enough to beat any celebrity.
Every business Lee Hyun touched went from deficit to surplus in an instant, and he quickly took the top spot in the country.
A man with no real sense of reality, that’s Lee Hyun. Unlike
Lee Hyun, I’m just an employee of Jiseok Electronics who doesn’t even know he exists.
I have no contact with Lee Hyun, and we’ve never been entangled in business.
‘Oh, but once.’
Last year, on Jiseok Electronics’ anniversary, Lee Hyun spilled wine on Yerin’s dress.
He apologized, came to me the next day, asked me to charge for the laundry, and took off the jacket he was wearing.
I couldn’t return the jacket, and I didn’t charge for the laundry either.
There was no need to go that far.
Yerin was certain that a man who planned his schedule by the minute would never remember such trivial things.
So she answered with a faint smile on her lips.
“No.”
“Really? Why do I feel like we’ve met before?”
On top of that, she had on much thicker makeup than usual today and had a wig on her head.
She could definitely say that there was no way she would recognize
her. “She doesn’t seem to be the woman I met on my blind date with.”
Lee Hyun tapped the table as if trying to somehow recall her memory.
But he smiled brightly, as if he couldn’t remember at all.
A round light bulb was shining brightly behind Lee Hyun’s face.
It was as if he was emitting a halo.
She must have stared at Lee Hyun’s face too intently without realizing it.
Lee Hyun’s lips curved upward.
“I guess you like me.”
“Huh?”
“Because he keeps looking at you like he’s in love.”
As she had felt earlier, he was a very honest man.
Yerin smiled faintly without realizing it.
Is there a woman who wouldn’t fall in love with that handsome face up close?
She thought about it for a short while.
“I guess I like you.”
Lee Hyun smiled along, perhaps accepting her smile as a favor.
Yerin nodded slightly.
“Not bad.”
She must have gained courage because Lee Hyun didn’t recognize her.
The ridiculously flashy makeup that Na Ri had done and the wig that she had suddenly put on her back also supported her courage.
And she wanted to stop thinking about the ridiculous sights that kept coming to her mind whenever she was alone.
The desire to meet a great man, not a worthless man who fell for her friend Seo Yoon’s malicious seduction, slowly rose to her head.
Yerin, who usually didn’t even touch alcohol, was
slowly getting drunk, perhaps because of the champagne she had sipped because she felt embarrassed about being alone on this wide rooftop.
‘What would it be like to spend the night with such a wonderful man?’
So she thought about something she normally wouldn’t do and had desires.
A question that didn’t even cross her mind burst out of Yerin’s red lips.
“What if I say I like you?”
Lee Hyun raised his eyebrows as if he found it amusing.
“I’ll gladly give it to you.”
“What… … .”
“Me.”
“Yes?”
“In return for helping me kick out that annoying woman earlier, I’ll serve you properly tonight.”
Yerin’s lips slowly parted.
“I said I was going to get out of here.”
“Yes.”
“Let’s go together.”
“Yes?”
Lee Hyun took a step closer and slowly scanned Yerin’s face.
Surprisingly, he didn’t dislike the intense gaze.
“If it weren’t for you, I would still be caught by that woodpecker-like woman.”
“Oh, that’s okay. I also received help earlier, and I helped you because you seemed to be in a lot of trouble.”
“Are you usually this kind of person?”
“What if you need someone?”
Lee Hyun’s eyes darkened at those words.
“I, I still need you.”
“Yes?”
“I think I fell in love with you at first sight.”
Lee Hyun casually blurted out such honest words.
“I want to spend the night with you.”
“… … .”
Lee Hyun slowly pulled the champagne glass that Yerin was still holding tightly.
Her hand gave out and Yerin dropped the glass.
Putting the champagne glass down on the table, Lee Hyun stared at Yerin’s hand that was still floating in the air for a moment.
Then he asked in a polite voice,
“I’ll hold your hand.”
Lee Hyun grabbed Yerin’s hand and pulled it toward him.
Before he could say anything to refuse, Yerin was leaving the rooftop with him.
Lee Hyun got on the elevator, tagged the key, and pressed the button for the floor where the suite was.
Then he handed the key to Yerin.
“You make the final choice.”
Yerin took the key with a bewildered expression.
The elevator stopped just in time.
Lee Hyun asked with a relaxed expression what he was going to do.
Yerin looked at the key in her hand once and then at Lee Hyun’s handsome face.
Then, she made a quick decision.
Yerin got out of the elevator before Lee Hyun.
Lee Hyun followed her, extending his long arms.
She thought he was going to take the hotel room key, but Lee Hyun’s hand ended up touching Yerin’s waist.
Lee Hyun pulled hard, so Yerin lost her balance for a moment and fell into his arms.
Yerin looked up at Lee Hyun with a tense face.
Lee Hyun slowly moved the hand holding Yerin’s waist.
It was a rhythmic movement, as if he was playing the piano.
“There… … .”
“Now… … .”
Lee Hyun and Yerin spoke at the same time.
There was a moment of pause in the tense atmosphere.
“Tell me.”
“No, you go first.”
“Not you, Chaehyun .”
“Oh, yes.”
Although she knew the name, Yerin nodded as if she was hearing it for the first time and engraved it in her mind.
“I wonder what your name is.”
“I… … .”
Yerin, who had been hesitating, bit her lip as she got out of Lee Hyun’s arms.
“Do I really need to know your name?”
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t want to exchange unnecessary information.”
She said it out of concern for what might happen.
However, it seemed to provoke Lee Hyun.
“This is fun.”
Lee Hyun grabbed Yerin’s hand again and strode briskly to the hotel room where she was staying.
As soon as the key tag was tagged and the door opened, Lee Hyun pulled her back into his arms.
Soon after, Lee Hyun’s hot breath poured onto Yerin’s face.
“I’m looking forward to it.”
“… … .”
“I think it’s going to be an unforgettable night.”
Lee Hyun’s words were nothing more than a preview.
***
Lee Hyun slowly opened his eyelids to the sound of rain tapping on the window incessantly.
It was still dark and cloudy outside, probably because it was raining.
They had said there would be a shower, and the weather forecast was right on the mark.
Whether it rains heavily or not.
Lee Hyun turned his head, assuming that the woman he had spent the night with would naturally be lying next to him.
However, the empty seat next to him was all that greeted Lee Hyun.
“Did you go shower?”
Looking at his watch, it was not even five in the morning.
Thinking that the woman would go out at this early hour, Lee Hyun pulled himself out of bed.
He usually preferred to wear nothing at home, but he was not alone now.
Thinking of the woman who would surprise him, Lee Hyun took out his robe and put it on, even though it was annoying.
He was impressed by my consideration.
“I don’t know your name, so I can’t call you.”
Last night, the woman didn’t tell him her name or any personal information.
That made her even more mysterious.
“I should ask her today.”
While thinking such grand thoughts, Lee Hyun opened the bedroom door and glanced at the living room.
“Nothing.”
Of course.
That’s why she was sitting on the living room sofa waiting for me at this hour.
Then the last option left was the bathroom.
He searched through all the bathrooms in the spacious suite, but he couldn’t find the woman.
“She ran away?”
He opened every door, but as expected, there was no trace of her.
“Huh.”
He let out a soft sigh in disbelief.
The reason why he went out wearing a gown, even though it was annoying, was because it was useless.
Lee Hyun roughly swept his bangs with one hand as he faced the unbelievable sight.
“Why?”
There was only one question that came to mind.
Lee Hyun let the woman go when it was almost 3 AM.
He had some energy left because he really couldn’t do it anymore, but he showed his gentlemanly side.
And then he fell asleep for a bit.
In those two hours, the woman disappeared.
Oh, it would be more accurate to say she ran away rather than disappeared.
Lee Hyun took out a bottle of water from the mini fridge and drank it in gulps.
Even so, his thirst didn’t go away.
At that exact moment, thunder rumbled outside.
Lee Hyun felt gloomy right now.
Lee Hyun walked back to the bedroom.
When he turned on the light, something glittered on the bed.
“What is this?”
He approached and saw that it was a gold ring. When he searched
his memory, he realized that it was the ring that had been on the index finger of the woman who had caught him and run away.
“Did you leave it behind on purpose?”
Asking me to find it?
Another version of Cinderella who left her shoes behind?
While thinking about that, Lee Hyun slowly scanned the bedroom again.
Then he noticed something on the table in the corner of the bedroom.
Lee Hyun approached and picked up the note.
It was written in a cute handwriting that resembled a woman’s.
“You were busy so you left your contact information.”
However, the words were different from what Lee Hyun had expected.
[It was fun.]
