Episode 202 – We’re OSS TF
The Alpha 1 drone seemed to have decided that it would be advantageous to intercept the looting vehicles following the truck.
The Revolver 860 Alpha 1 drone drops another mortar round.
The convoy of looters began to stop one by one. Then, the rioters who spotted the drone began shooting into the air.
The Alpha 1 drone was taking evasive maneuvers and increasing its altitude under the gunfire of the raiders.
The looters’ large truck was far from the main force, but it continued to speed without slowing down. Then, it drove straight into a San Francisco police checkpoint.
A large truck towing a huge trailer passed through the Golden Gate checkpoint, destroying barricades and police vehicles.
The police focused their fire on the truck’s wheels, causing it to lose control and fall sideways, skidding down the road.
As three or four rioters crawled out of the stopped truck, armed with guns, the OSS Alpha Team members who had just arrived were aiming their guns and shouting something.
The looters also instinctively aimed their guns. However, when they saw the number and weapons of the special forces soldiers who were emerging from the K151 tactical vehicle and aiming their guns, they began to drop their guns one by one and raise their hands above their heads.
Several California police officers came running when they saw the sight.
Their confusion was evident when they realized that it was not their own military.
One of the OSS task forces shouted:
“We are the OSS Task Force. We’re here to assist you. “Ready to cooperate.”
(We are the OSS Task Force. We are here to help you. We are ready to cooperate.)
“”You’re a sight for sore eyes, OSS. Thanks for the backup!”
(It’s really nice to see you. Thank you for your support.)
The California police collected the rioters’ guns and handcuffed them. Two police officers loaded the arrested rioters into a police car and drove them off somewhere.
The remaining police officers headed to the Golden Gate checkpoint with the OSS special agents.
The Alpha 1 drone, which was hovering in the sky and monitoring the Golden Gate Bridge, dropped a 60mm mortar shell when the looters’ vehicle appeared to move.
That would have been enough warning for the raiders, but the problem was that they only had six mortar rounds. And the battery, with its maximum endurance of 50 minutes, was also a problem.
While drones halted the advance of the looters, police and OSS task forces reinforced checkpoints and barricades.
California police began broadcasting warnings to looters on the bridge, using broadcast equipment.
– Attention at the Golden Gate Bridge checkpoint! California Police speaking. We are now reinforced by the OSS Task Force. Unauthorized bridge crossing will result in immediate action.
– (Attention! This is the California State Police at the Golden Gate Bridge checkpoint. We are supported by the OSS Task Force. Any unauthorized crossing of the bridge will result in immediate action.)
The words “OSS Task Force” that were broadcast over the police broadcast seemed to have had some effect. The looters must have seen the news and YouTube too.
Meanwhile, Bravo Team was manning checkpoints and barricades alongside police on the Oakland Bay Bridge.
Police on the bridge ordered everyone out of their vehicles as they attempted to pass, checked for firearms, searched their vehicles, and then allowed them into San Francisco.
In that situation, the OSS convoy team arrived at the OSL branch and deployed heavy equipment, but it was possible to confirm through the RTTF screen that transporting gold bars was no ordinary task.
Even though they brought a crane and a forklift, the process of unloading the forklift from the truck, taking the 150 tons of gold bars out of the building, and loading them onto the truck did not seem easy.
Charlie Team and Delta Team, which were in charge of escorting the convoy, seemed to be taking turns guarding the perimeter, while the remaining special agents and OSL staff were helping to unload the gold bars by manpower.
A crane lowered a large box through a window, and people came down elevators and stairs carrying boxes and bags of gold bullion and placed them on pallets laid out on the road.
And once the cargo was arranged on the pallet, a forklift was loading it onto the truck.
Considering that the average household moves 6 to 7 tons of goods, 150 tons is equivalent to 25 households moving at the same time, and the number of pallets that a forklift has to load onto a truck would easily be 200.
If it has to be transported only by elevator.
Assuming that an 8-person elevator can load 650 kg at a time, it would have to be run 235 times.
Additionally, the speed of the elevator was also an issue.
Even if it took 10 minutes for the elevator to run once, including the time it took to load and unload, it would take at least 40 hours.
We brought a cargo crane and a forklift to prepare for such a situation, but it wasn’t something that could be finished quickly.
Moreover, gold bars were not limited to standard 400-ounce (12.4 kg) bars.
There was a mix of standard gold bars and gold bars of different weights. It was difficult to tell on the screen when the work would be finished.
At the Golden Gate Bridge, Alpha Team’s defensive line, the Revolver 860 drone withdraws to replace batteries and refill ammunition.
A gunfight broke out as the convoy of looters advanced.
Rather, the firepower of the raiding party was overwhelmingly stronger than that of individual firearms.
The number of rioters was in the hundreds, but Alpha Team and the California police force numbered less than 50.
However, the only ones who could stop them were Alpha Team’s snipers. The standoff was prolonged, with a distance of about 200 meters.
– Crackling.
– IronSentinel Actual, contact on the west coast. The Raiders have landed at Baker Beach. Alpha team secures the west end of Lincoln Boulevard. Over.
– (Iron Sentinel Actual, contact has been made on the west coast. Rioters have landed on Baker Beach. Alpha Team, secure the west end of Lincoln Boulevard. Over.)
– Alpha 1/1, copy that. Over. (Alpha Team Leader. Check the formula. Over.)
If the looters had landed on the beach, there would have been no reason to engage the military and police.
Their goal would be plunder, but they were woefully short of troops to search the city center.
– IIronSentinel actually reconnaissance Alpha Drones 2 and 3 from the road from Baker Beach towards the OSL office.
– (Iron Sentinel Actual, Alpha Drone 2 and 3, scout the road from Baker Beach to the OSL branch office.)
– Charlie and Delta, reinforce your perimeters and prepare for engagement. Over.
– (Charlie and Delta, strengthen your guard and prepare for engagement. Over.)
Bravo Team also continued to relay the situation. It was an urgent voice. It was the Oakland Bay Bridge checkpoint, 8km from the Golden Gate Bridge.
– Chiiik, chijik.
– Bravo 1/1 here, looters and civilians are crossing the bridge in a scrum formation. Local police are unable to respond. Over.
– (Here is Team Bravo, looters and civilians are crossing the bridge in a scrum. The state police are also unable to respond. That’s it.)
Footage from Bravo Team’s reconnaissance drone was shown to the RTTF situation room.
There were a lot of people marching or crossing the bridge.
The crowd in front included women and the elderly, all unarmed. A vehicle followed behind the crowd.
There was no way to know whether the people crossing the bridge at the front were hostages or a deception by the looters, but it was certain that they were unarmed.
The police were announcing to the crowd approaching that they could not cross the bridge, but the people on the bridge were walking on without making a sound.
They were walking slowly, like a horde of zombies from The Walking Dead.
The police fired warning shots into the sky, but they kept walking. Like zombies…
Although most of them were refugees fleeing the earthquake and looting, it was not difficult to guess that there were also groups of looters and rioters among them.
Although the facts could not be confirmed, the crowd on the bridge was acting as a human shield for the looters.
As a California police officer, it must have been a difficult situation for the OSS task force.
It was a chaotic situation, different from war.
It was impossible to shoot at unarmed civilians, so in the end, we had no choice but to admit them through inspection.
As the crowd approached the Oakland Bay Bridge checkpoint, officers asked them to line up and then began to search them one by one.
Behind the line for security checks, thousands, if not tens of thousands of people were gathered, waiting for their turn.
The waiting time was getting longer because of the security check. People who had been waiting were taking steps forward one by one as if they had made an appointment.
Before we knew it, the distance between the checkpoint and the crowd was gradually decreasing to 100m, 50m, and 30m.
Then, something happened.
Someone in the crowd began to shout inexplicably, either out of exhaustion from the security checks or incited by the looters.
The crowd gradually moved closer to the checkpoint.
When the distance between the checkpoint and the crowd was less than 10 meters, the crowd began to shout and force their way through the checkpoint.
The area around the checkpoint began to descend into total chaos, and the police and Bravo Team were helpless.
The crowd was all carrying backpacks or bags like refugees, making it difficult to see what was inside them.
Some people complied with the police and special forces’ orders to stop and allowed themselves to be searched, but countless others poured in like a flood and scattered throughout San Francisco.
The situation had become such that checkpoints and cordons had become meaningless.
This urgent situation was being transmitted via radio.
– Crackling.
