He is Already a Tycoon at a Young Age! - Chapter 126

Episode 126 – Selling containers cheap
New York
Port Authority Commission
“Haven’t you already loaded the container and done a test voyage? What else do you want me to prove?”
“Look, Mr. Kennedy, we’re not doing this on our own.”
The middle-aged man frowned and looked at Joseph Kennedy.
“Why are you so obsessed with containers? Let’s say you’re saying that the ship is only loaded with containers. If it hits a big wave even once, the whole ship will capsize.”
“Didn’t you say you’ve already done all the experiments? This is so frustrating that I can’t even speak.”
Joseph sighed and muttered.
We’ve been going through the same administrative procedures for weeks now.
The tanker has been converted to container transport and has completed a test voyage.
‘If only these idiots hadn’t grabbed my ankles…’
Joseph glared at the man sitting across from him.
It was also highly probable that money had been poured into disrupting the container business of other shipping companies.
“Let’s wait until the New York gubernatorial election is over. There’s nothing we can do right now.”
The official said.
“If we push ahead arbitrarily and an accident happens, the federal government will definitely be talking.”
“So you’re saying we should wait a few more weeks? Until then, just leave the ship at the port? And the container terminal that was built…”
“Why don’t you just carry general cargo like you did before? Do we have to manage that business as well? If you had gotten the permit first and started, there wouldn’t have been any problems.”
“Didn’t the Port Commission say they would allow a pilot run? Government officials are like this…”
Joseph Kennedy turned away and clicked his tongue.
It felt like I was talking to a wall rather than a person.
‘I guess there’s nothing I can do about it now that it’s come to this.’
There is only one person who can easily resolve this situation.
There was only Adolf Hitler.
Joseph returned to his office and grumbled and called his secretary.
“I should send a telegram to H.”

“The Port Authority is sabotaging containers?”
“Joe, Joseph said so.”
The train back to New York.
Richter and I sat in the room checking the papers.
Following Prince Edward was a forced march in itself.
Through the central and western regions, then back to the eastern region.
Everywhere we went, not only Edward but I had to give a speech.
[Without the help of the American people, mass production of Compound H would have been delayed by years!]
[Every American has the right to find oil and become a millionaire!]
Looking back, all I said was populist remarks.
The effect was immediate, though.
“There doesn’t seem to be a solution to the container problem right now. We’ll have to wait until after the New York gubernatorial election.”
“I’ll also contact IMM and find out more about the situation.”
“Let’s stop here for tonight.”
container.
Even in the history of Yuan, there were many administrative problems in the early days of its introduction.
This is going to be a headache.
“Where did you say you were going tomorrow?”
“Well, West Point. And then the farewell party.”
“It will be over soon.”
I came out of the room.
The train moved without stopping, creating a humming vibration.
‘I wonder if the restaurant is still open.’
Perhaps because it wasn’t past midnight, the restaurant car was still open.
Because of the prohibition, there was no alcohol, but there were a few people drinking black tea or eating late-night snacks.
A familiar face seen between them.
That’s…
“Mr. Hitler. It’s so late. Aren’t you still asleep?”
“Yes, Minister. I have a lot of work to do. May I join you?”
“Of course. Isn’t America a land of the free?”
I sat down and looked at the man across from me.
Short stature with long hair.
Even the impression he has is fierce.
It’s hard not to recognize this person.
A leader who led Britain to victory during World War II,
An imperialist who opposed Indian independence until the very end.
Winston Churchill.
‘He is also famous for his digging in Gallipoli during World War I.’
Did they send 250,000 troops to 6 battleships? I guess it’s best not to bring that up.
He must be the British Secretary of War now.
Churchill may not have had a good strategic or military vision, but he was a capable bureaucrat.
It was also Churchill who persuaded the British Navy to replace all coal-fired engines with internal combustion engines.
“Your Majesty, you are personally accompanying the royal family. It must be very tiring.”
“There’s a saying in Whitehall: Don’t interfere in royal affairs, unless it involves your wife.”
Churchill said with a hearty laugh.
“I just quietly follow the Prince of Wales wherever he goes. By the way, this is the first time I’ve had a private conversation with Mr. Hitler, isn’t it?”
“I, too, have been wanting to talk to you, Minister.”
I didn’t have a chance to do that because I was being dragged around by Edward.
At first, I only exchanged brief greetings with Churchill.
“Mr. Hitler discovered Compound H together with Dr. Fleming. If only we had had that drug during the last Great War, we could have saved the lives of many more soldiers.”
Churchill said, lighting a cigar.
“I don’t even want to think about how many soldiers died from minor wounds.”
A meaningful smile.
“I heard that Morgan House also received help from this medicine.”
Do you know about Mrs. Morgan?
The British Empire also had considerable intelligence capabilities.
There must be an information network within Morgan House as well.
You’re secretly trying to sneak a peek.
I answered in a calm tone.
“Compound H will soon be approved for military supply by the US military. If the British military also adopts Compound H, it will save the lives of its soldiers.”
A new drug that prevents death from infection!
What could a soldier need more than this?
“The War Department is already reviewing it.”
Churchill, who had said so, tapped his cigar. There was silence, and then he opened his mouth again.
“Mr. Hitler was attacked by an unknown assailant while he was visiting Germany some time ago. He was then taken to the hospital.”
“Yes, that’s right.”
Was he a retired soldier suffering from PTSD? He almost died in a pistol attack.
“Did you hear the news from England?”
“Yes, what Mr. Hitler said at that time was very interesting. We must support Poland to stop the Bolshevik advance! That was contrary to public opinion in Germany at the time.”
Churchill bowed his head forward.
“Do you think the Russian Bolsheviks are so dangerous that you would help Poland?”
Oh, so that’s what it was.
I could guess why he was asking this question.
‘Churchill was a staunch anti-communist.’
He even tried to invade the Soviet Union right after the Nazis fell. He must have thought I was one of his kind.
“Russia is already connected to Hungary. If all of Poland had fallen… it wouldn’t have been a good situation for Germany either.”
“I agree with Mr. Hitler. Wherever the Bolsheviks occupy, only red blood flows. Just look at Italy now.”
Churchill said.
“Isn’t that all they know how to do, wear red armbands and go on strike? We have to somehow get support to Italy before the worst happens.”
“…”
The news coming from Italy changed rapidly by the day.
The King’s declaration of martial law and the large-scale suppression of socialists and fascists.
The White Shirts led by Mussolini were unable to mount a proper counterattack.
‘Taking advantage of the confusion, a general strike broke out in the North.’
In the original history, the king simply handed over power to Mussolini.
‘But now it’s a complete mess.’
From government forces to fascists and even socialist forces.
There was even a possibility that a civil war like Spain might break out.
“Our British Government will never allow Italy to fall into Bolshevik hands.”
Churchill said, blushing.
“I guess the United States of America thinks the same way.”
“Then, support will go to the fascists or the government forces. Military supplies and weapons.”
I asked in a calm tone.
The Allies also participated in the Russian Civil War.
It is highly likely that the same situation will be repeated in Italy.
then…
Maybe I can benefit too.
“Minister, how would you like me to assist you in the direction of the British Empire?”
“Help, Mr. Hitler? What do you mean?”
“If you want to send supplies to Italy, you have to go by sea. It’s difficult to transport them across the Alps.”
I bowed my head forward.
“What if there was a way to increase transportation efficiency several-fold along the way?”
“Of course we should introduce it. But is that possible?”
Churchill asked with a half-doubtful expression. He seemed not to know whether he was serious or joking.
“Did you put a rocket next to the ship?”
“It’s not a rocket. It’s much simpler than that. Come to my room and I’ll show you the relevant data.”
I smiled inwardly.
‘I didn’t know there would be a breakthrough here.’

“This is interesting.”
“Containers and tankers converted. Even special cranes. IMM and Hitler Company can provide them. Of course, the ports will also need to be converted to some extent, but that is…”
As I expected, Churchill showed great interest in the container.
After checking the test materials directly, request a copy.
He promised to look into it himself.
“The approach was wrong from the beginning.”
I said to Richter, rubbing his eyes.
The first widespread use of containers was during the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Containers drastically reduce transportation time and costs.
There was no reason for the military to reject such containers.
“We should have attacked the military first, not the private shipping industry. This Italian incident is a good opportunity.”
If Churchill’s words are true, it is likely that not only Britain but also the United States will come forward to provide support.
In that case, we will actively introduce containers.
“Well, Churchill, that guy seems a bit strange. Do you really think I’ll do as you say?”
“Churchill is a competent professional bureaucrat. If he crunches the numbers and sees that we are right, he will act immediately.”
The problem is persuading the U.S. government. We could ask Roosevelt, who was an Assistant Secretary of the Navy, to do it…
It was obvious that he would be busy with the gubernatorial election. If he did something convenient for my business, it could cause controversy later.
“Let’s first submit a proposal to the Ministry of War.”
“I bet they didn’t even review it properly. After the war, the scale shrank. They’ll probably try to save as much money as possible.”
“We need containers, even if it’s just to save money. We’ll need something that will get the War Department’s attention.”
I was lost in thought.
It would be difficult to persuade without the help of someone like Churchill.
Something different was needed.
Wait, by the way…
“Isn’t this where we’re going now West Point?”
“Uh, yeah. That’s the last place the Prince of Wales stops by. Wasn’t it like a military academy?”
West Point.
United States Military Academy.
The principal now is someone I know well.
Hero of the Incheon Landing Operation.
The blue-eyed shogun.
“Douglas MacArthur. We have to use him.”
“It’s almost midnight. Can’t we do it tomorrow morning?… Oh, I’ll be there tomorrow morning.”
Richter sighed and stood up.
“Go and get me some coffee. You want two sugar cubes?”
“Please.”
Left alone in the room, I was lost in thought.
How can I get MacArthur to help me?
Now MacArthur…
‘I pushed for several reforms at West Point, but I was met with opposition from the House of Representatives and the press.’
Opposition from the House of Representatives and the press.
I can easily solve this problem.
Radio, people magazines, newspapers, etc.
There are many cards you can use.
‘In return, I’ll have to ask MacArthur for container support.’
Once the Ministry of War shows interest…
Right now, only IMM and Hitler Company are capable of container operations.
If I just sit still, won’t the money come to me on its own?
“I have to row when the water comes in.”

Author’s Note
Q: How was MacArthur evaluated during his time as superintendent at West Point?
A: In 1919, there were loud calls for reform at West Point, including one freshman committing suicide by shooting himself during a harsh initiation ceremony.
Accordingly, MacArthur was appointed to West Point as a regular army brigadier general and the youngest superintendent.
On his first day in office, he refuses to inspect the cadet corps, saying:
“If I remember correctly, there are quite a few ceremonies that the cadets have to go through. They always make up some plausible excuse when they mobilize the cadets for ceremonies. What good will it do to hold another ceremony for me? The cadets will soon be seeing me often anyway.”
MacArthur was highly unorthodox by officer standards at the time, breaking the cadets’ non-smoking rule and frequently offering them cigarettes.
One of his reforms was the cadet honorarium, which paid cadets $5 a month and allowed them to go out for six hours on weekends.
Censorship of mail was abolished, and fourth-year cadets were allowed to form their own clubs and play cards with officers.
Freshmen were also allowed to attend induction ceremonies on a very limited basis, and were required to be attended by officers.
MacArthur’s diehard classmates protested that he was trying to corrupt West Point by spreading the germ of generosity, but he was not always generous.
When the cadet newspaper, the Bray, published an article satirizing the school administration, MacArthur banned its distribution and fired the officer in charge.
He also actively encouraged cadets to participate in sports and organized various events including stadium events.
