He is Already a Tycoon at a Young Age! - Chapter 131

Episode 131 – The Peacemaker
New York Harbor
Container test dock
“Have you ever seen such a beautiful sight?”
Morgan III muttered as he looked out at the docks. He wasn’t the only one who was surprised by the sight of the docks.
The same goes for other IMM executives.
“I’ve never seen such a big crane in my life.”
“Moving a container every five minutes…”
There was no sign of dock workers moving cargo in groups.
Only one crane is busy moving containers.
Steel tongs picked up the container and placed it on the tanker.
There are already 50 containers stacked one on top of another.
“You can stack up to 62 on a single cargo ship. Anything more than that is difficult.”
“Unloading and loading can be completed within eight hours. This will fundamentally change maritime transport.”
“I guarantee you that it will be so. I was skeptical when I first heard it from Hitler…”
Morgan III nodded.
It was a performance that far exceeded expectations.
“If you use containers like that, it won’t be easy to steal things in the middle.”
“Just think about how much more goods we can move in the future. As costs go down, more goods will be transported by sea.
The only problem was administrative processing, but with civil war raging in Italy, government approval was granted quickly.
‘I guess even father will approve of this.’
He muttered to himself.
How much would the House of Morgan benefit from marrying Hitler?
“We will also do our best to check to make sure that no problems occur…”
Just then a loud noise was heard.
The sound of footsteps as a crowd of people rushes in.
“Hey, hey! What are you doing!”
“Stop the containers that are taking away dock workers’ jobs!”
“Our workers are in danger because of the government’s hasty administration! If the ship tilts sideways, it will be the sailors who will die!”
“No ship can leave port unless the workers load it!”
As the crowd gathered, the workers who were loading the goods hurriedly dispersed. Soon, security guards and police officers swarmed in, and the air became hot.
“They are strikers.”
“Governor Roosevelt announced a compromise some time ago…”
“I see this problem is going to happen.”
Morgan III frowned and muttered.
The workers have always been the problem.
A group of beggars who are desperate to squeeze out even a little more money.
And across from him, a worker was thinking the exact opposite.
“Under the banner of the IWW! When the workers rise up, they can do nothing!”
The capitalists have always been the problem.
A tribe of vampires who steal even the little bit of money you have.
“Stop them from taking our jobs!”
“Lazy bastards who block innovation!”

Hungary
Budapest Royal Palace
“This Italian revolution could be said to be proof that Marxism is triumphant.”
Kun Beller waved his arms and shouted.
Standing opposite him was Tukhachevsky, the leader of the Hungarian Communist Party.
Hero of the Polish-Russian War.
“But in Russia, the birthplace of the revolution, they are accepting capitalism! There can be no bigger mistake than this.”
“The New Economic Policy is a temporary measure for survival. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Tukhachevsky lit a cigarette and looked out the window.
The view of the Buda Castle was dreary.
The Lenin Boys, in leather uniforms and red armbands, walked the streets, stopping anyone whose clothes looked wealthy.
That’s probably why most people on the street wear clothes in dull colors.
“A true revolutionary never compromises. If you compromise one by one, you will betray your revolutionary ideals in an instant.”
“Are you saying that we Bolsheviks have betrayed the revolution?”
“I never said anything like that. I’m just worried as a fellow revolutionary.”
Kun Beller hurriedly changed his words.
Although Hungary was formally independent of Bolshevik Russia, its influence could not be ignored.
“There were those who said similar things when People’s Committee Chairman Lenin signed an armistice with the German Empire.”
“Tukhachevsky said, blowing smoke from his cigarette.
“They denounced the Bolsheviks as traitors and cowards who handed over territory to Germany. But now look at the results. Ukraine is liberated, eastern Poland is in our hands, and Hungary is beyond words.”
“That’s why Italy is more important.”
Kun Beller answered with a cough.
“Once Italy is liberated, the flames of revolution will soon spread throughout Europe. The capitalist system will soon crack…”
“There are no clear cracks yet. We must wait for the right time.”
Tukhachevsky shook his head.
In Moscow too, all kinds of desires were stirring.
From claims that the capitalist system will collapse soon to claims that it is not yet time.
Whose words are true?
“But we cannot ignore our comrades in Italy. The Moscow leadership has already taken action.”
“If it’s action…”
“We have many comrades not only here in Europe but also in the New World. With their help, we can achieve results without direct intervention. Of course, we must also provide material support to our Italian comrades.”
“Tukhachevsky said, stubbing out his cigarette in the ashtray.
“First, send the revolutionaries to Italy through Austria. Moscow will soon decide on material support.”

[Container Ship Departure! The first batch of emergency relief supplies for victims of the Italian Civil War…]
[Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who was officially sworn in as New York Governor, recently expressed concern about the dock strike…]
[The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) said in a statement that the container project would cost countless dockworkers their jobs…]
[The IWW recently called for pensions to be paid to the unemployed dock workers over a period of 20 years, and for the unemployed and their children to be given priority employment in other Hitler Company enterprises…]
As strikes broke out at the container terminals, the Italian Civil War heated up.
The conflict escalated into armed conflict when socialists who had been in the government army deserted with guns, joined the rebels, and raided an armory.
The socialist volunteer army, assembled under the leadership of the Comintern and the Third International, set out for northern Italy.
It was in this chaotic situation that Mussolini’s announcement was made.
“We have no intention of fighting the Crown! The indecisive parliamentarians, liberals and socialists are our real enemies!”
The announcement that the fascists would join the government forces and fight shook all of Italy once again.
“For the Kingdom of Italy! Let us put an end to the chaos and restore its former glory!”
“Long live Mussolini Duce, the hero of our country! Long live Duce!”

New York
Hitler Company
“Mussolini joined the government forces?”
“I really don’t understand. Wasn’t that the reason I started causing trouble in the first place, trying to take over the government?”
“It looks like a good number to me.”
A snicker came out.
Strictly speaking, Richter is right.
In the first place, this civil war was caused by the riots of the fascists.
Even if Rome had not been threatened, martial law would not have been declared.
‘But now you’re trying to launder yourself by joining the government forces?’
Blaming it all on the socialists? Mussolini really has some political sense.
There must be a reason why he ruled Italy as a dictator for over twenty years.
“How’s the situation at the dock?”
“Wow, the strike is in full swing. Both shipping and unloading are at a standstill.”
Richter shook his head from side to side.
“The IWW is leading the strike, but I don’t think it’ll end any time soon. They fought for months at the Lawrence Garment Factory and the Paterson Strike, too. Oh, I heard they put Helen Keller forward as their representative.”
“Helen Keller.”
I didn’t know Helen Keller would appear. A great person who overcame disabilities that left her unable to hear or see.
There is also a famous anecdote about her teacher, Anne Sullivan, teaching her by writing on the palm of her hand.
But most of the stories included in textbooks end there.
‘It’s not widely known that Helen Keller was a radical socialist.’
She was a member of the Socialist Party and the IWW. The reason she was nominated by the IWW was…
It seems like they’re trying to gain public support by putting themselves out there as the face of the madam.
It’s not a bad frame.
To anyone, pushing someone like Helen Keller into a tank would be the worst possible choice.
“Did you also ignore the arbitration proposal announced by Roosevelt?”
A proposal to employ the unemployed in the construction of Hitler-Morganland and to convert those who remained on the docks to regular workers.
Also, up to two years of subsidy payment.
“Well, that’s not enough. And this is something new that Hoover sent.”
I looked at the documents Richter had handed me. The information that the General Intelligence Agency agents had investigated.
As expected from Hoover, it was organized in great detail.
“It’s very likely that the IWW is working with Moscow. That would explain it to some extent.”
IWW.
Industrial Workers of the World.
It was an organization that advocated syndicalism, or trade unionism.
‘There has been some connection with Moscow throughout history.’
The container ship is currently being used to support Italian government forces. Interfering with this could buy time for the northern rebels.
“Then, whatever proposal I make, it is likely to be rejected. The strike itself is the goal.”
“I initially set out to identify IMM as the enemy, not you. It wasn’t a direct attack, but… What are we going to do now?”
Richter let out a deep sigh.
“We can’t give in to everything the strikers are demanding. If we do, other companies like Hitler Motors and Tesla Radio will make the same demands.”
“That could be a possibility.”
IMM and I cannot accept such an outrageous demand.
They want to pay pensions to laid-off workers for decades and provide employment benefits for their children.
‘I don’t think the IWW seriously thought these terms would be accepted.’
So why did you make this suggestion?
“They want us to oppose them.”
“Well, you want to oppose? Why on earth?”
“I’ve built up a good image so far. They’re trying to use that against me.”
Rejecting the IWW’s demands and suppressing the strike would be a blow to the image it has built up so far.
Conversely, if the IWW’s demands were accepted, other subsidiary employees would demand the same conditions.
Whichever you choose, you lose.
It’s too sophisticated to have been thought up by the IWW.
‘Could this also be an order from Moscow?’
I was lost in thought and slowly opened my mouth.
“You don’t have to move the way they want.”
“So, are you saying we should suppress the strike?”
“No, then our image would be damaged as well.”
Rockefeller even called in armed detectives and the National Guard to break up the strike.
It drew condemnation from across the United States, with even children and pregnant women dying.
There is no reason to repeat such a disaster.
“Let’s try to involve other people.”
“Someone else?”
“The current President of the United States is Calvin Coolidge. How did that taciturn man gain such fame that he was elected Vice President?”
“Well…”
“The police strike in Boston. Coolidge gained popularity when he suppressed it while he was governor.”
I thought back to when I first came to America. The theater I visited with Richter before meeting Disney.
There was news about the police strike. More than a thousand police officers went on strike to protest low wages and poor support.
[No one has the right to strike when it threatens public safety.]
Governor Coolidge even called in the National Guard to break the strike.
He gained national popularity by firing the striking police officers.
Although it was true that the police were treated unfairly at the time, the public supported Coolidge.
“Coolidge will surely try to suppress this strike in a similar way. He will use force to break it.”
The container business was not just about my interests and IMM’s.
The US government is also supporting Italy using container ships.
‘The White House will also take action to stop the strike.’
Strikers clash with police and National Guard troops. Then the strike escalates into armed conflict.
“That’s when I step in. I stop them right before a clash breaks out between the two…”
I looked at a map of the New York docks.
“To become a peacemaker.”
“Praise, mediator of peace…”
“Let’s start with the preparations first.”
Preparing to become a savior.
Not only Hearst…
The government and the IWW must be controlled to an appropriate level.
We need to wait until just before the collision and then stop it in time.
“First, make an appointment with Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover. He’s in charge of the Italian aid project, so he probably doesn’t want it to lead to armed conflict.”
If the strike becomes serious, it will become difficult to provide support to Italy itself.
I looked at a map of the New York docks.
“And the IWW side should try to conquer Helen Keller. She wouldn’t welcome a large-scale armed conflict either.”
Helen Keller is an idealist.
A society that is more equal and freer than today.
A person who truly believes that socialism is a noble cause.
The perfect person for the IWW to put forward for this strike.
Then I can use it too. Will she push her fellow workers into a corner?
Or should I hold on to the lifeline I’m handing you at the last minute?
Even if you don’t catch it…
All you have to do is make them hold on.
‘If they pick a fight with propaganda, you have to respond with propaganda.’

Author’s Note
Q: What about the Boston police strike?
A: In 1919, Boston police officers went on a massive strike, angry not only about poor working conditions but also about a ten-year wage freeze.
About a thousand police officers, or three-quarters of Boston’s entire police force, went on strike, and the city was thrown into looting and chaos.
In response, then Massachusetts Governor Calvin Coolidge called out the militia and the National Guard to maintain order in the city and fired all police officers who had joined the strike.
It was briefly mentioned early on in the work.
Ironically, after the strike was resolved, newly hired police officers received the wage increases and benefits that the original strikers had demanded.
Calvin Coolidge, who declared at the time that “there is no right to strike when, where, or against any person, the public peace is threatened,” won nationwide support, was nominated as the Republican vice presidential candidate, and later became president.
