He is Already a Tycoon at a Young Age! - Chapter 92

Episode 92 – E pluribus unum
“Has it already started?”
Amelia Morgan asked as she came down the stairs. The large Tesla radio in the living room.
Sitting in front of him was Jessie Morgan, Jack Morgan’s wife and Amelia’s mother.
She nodded.
“Hitler has just appeared on the witness stand. It will begin now.”
“Your father isn’t here?”
“He’s probably listening in the study. He just bought a new radio receiver.”
“So you want to listen in secret by yourself?”
Amelia chuckled.
Will there ever be another event as exciting as today?
Hitler had been steadily gaining popularity among Americans over the years.
‘The workmanship was so skillful that there was nothing to find fault with.’
Compound H and corn, convention.
He has been targeting specific groups within the United States one by one.
But can we stop the attacks of fundamentalists?
“Even if he is Hitler, it will be difficult to escape this mess. Even if he wins the fight against the religious world, it cannot be said to have been a victory.”
Although science has been gaining popularity recently, this is only a story of the North and the big cities.
In the South and rural areas, the church still had great power.
Religious groups have exerted influence on a variety of issues, including premarital chastity, abortion, and women’s suffrage.
“Amelia, what would you do?”
“Now that the controversy has grown this big, I can’t avoid going to court. I have to go and talk about the basics. That way, I can prevent the problem from getting worse right away.”
Amelia answered shortly.
“Then, the public’s interest will gradually decrease. We can also avoid a direct fight with the religious community.”
“So you’re trying to avoid controversy as much as possible. Like you…”
Jesse Morgan paused and let out a dry cough.
“Are you okay?”
“It’s okay. I’ve had a bad cough since the last Spanish flu. I got some medicine from the doctor, so I’ll feel better soon.”
Just then a familiar voice rang out from the radio.
Adolf Hitler.
[First of all, I should say this. Rocketman is the first work I’ve drawn since coming to America.]
As always, the tone was firm and blunt.
[In fact, many people have asked me why I, who was born in Austria and served in the German army, came across the Atlantic to the United States, where I had no ties.]
Amelia tilted her head without realizing it.
What are you talking about all of a sudden?
This has nothing to do with Rocketman.
[I always gave the same answer. It was because of the American dream. I saw so many national flags in this country. I met people from Ireland, Canada, England, France, China, Italy, Russia.]
[I would never have been successful in America without the help of people like Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, Morgan House, Walt Disney, Dale Carnegie, and others. I also received help from believers from all religions, including Protestants and Catholics.]
Then a rumbling sound broke out.
[Your Honor! The witness’s statement has nothing to do with the question!]
[The objection is denied. The witness may continue his testimony.]
“It feels like I’m listening to a speech, not a testimony.”
“Maybe they bribed the judge.”
Amelia nodded.
It was still difficult to understand Hitler’s intentions.
The exact opposite of what she expected.
What on earth was Hitler trying to say?
“If you want to confront us head on…”
Amelia moved closer to the radio.
[Freedom, equality, and democracy were the American spirit that captivated me. Many people have criticized this trial as a ridiculous nonsense and a circus, but I think differently. I saw hope in this trial today.]
[This trial is probably the greatest example of American freedom and equality. If it had been another dictatorship, this trial would never have been held. The king or the emperor would have said a word and it would have been resolved.]
Amelia stood up from her chair without realizing it.
A shiver ran through my body.
‘It’s a similar situation to the radio hearing.’
He praised the trial that was meant to insult him.
Didn’t Hitler use the hearings to solidify his monopoly on radio?
‘It’s more advanced than before…’
Freedom, equality, democracy.
Could there be any more ambiguous terms than this?
Communists, capitalists, feminists, racists, etc.
Materials that can be sympathized with regardless of one’s religious beliefs.
It was clear that Hitler chose these words deliberately.
“I don’t know what you’re trying to say.”
“Both the scientific and religious communities tried to bring Hitler to the forefront.”
The scientific community has turned to Hitler and Rocket Man as symbols of progress.
The religious world tried to put it forward as a symbol of the Antichrist.
“But Hitler combined those two camps and praised them.”
[Isn’t it a demonstration of the excellence of democracy that anyone can be tried through due process and that the public is also interested in these issues?]
[The Republic in my Rocketman is a community of freedom that transcends race and gender, and a place where hope and courage coexist. I don’t think I need to mention where I got this motif.]
[As many people have said, the Rocket Man I drew features space travel and aliens. Science and technology also appear as important parts. Science is a great force, but it is not a teacher of morality.]
[Science can create new drugs that save patients, but it can also create poison gases that kill soldiers. Science has also taught us how to dive underwater and shoot torpedoes, and how to rise above the clouds and shoot others to death.]
[Science is a powerful force, but it needs moral teaching more than anything else. If scientists develop technology without any sense of morality, that would be the most tragic thing.]
[Science and religion. These two are interconnected. How to strike a balance is the most important issue.]
[You can’t change the world if you rely solely on the Bible, but you can’t change the world if you mock the Bible. Because it contains messages of love, equality, and freedom. These are the values that Americans hold most dear.]
[This trial today shows that the United States is the best country to find that balance.]
Amelia sat down with a laugh.
“Guilty or not guilty, it’s already over. If people listen to this broadcast…”
It wasn’t a blatant and obvious praise for America. It was a clever and heart-wrenching sentence.
Hitler was telling Americans what they most wanted to hear.
“The one who rules the court now is Hitler.”
The sound of people in the courtroom murmuring could be faintly heard over the radio.
[That author named Hitler is good at talking.]
***
[I don’t think the reason so many American citizens love Rocketman is because it is anti-Biblical. I tried to capture the ideology and feelings of all the people and society I met in America through Rocketman.]
“I have never heard such a testimony in my life.”
Roosevelt muttered as he looked into the radio. He’s using the courtroom as his speech venue.
The world’s first radio-broadcast trial.
Tesla Radio and RCA played a central role in this process.
Could this really be a coincidence?
“I didn’t expect you to prepare a speech of this level in such a short time.”
It wasn’t just the speech that was impressive.
Hitler’s speech began at a calm tempo but gradually became more and more intense.
After the point to be emphasized has passed, it subsides again.
It was almost as if I was listening to a song or an opera rather than a speech.
It went far beyond what he had taught in a short time.
[The citizens of Tennessee have the right to ban my work, but if anyone is going to be punished for Rocketman, let it be me. I am the only one responsible.]
[Rocketman and I have received an overwhelming amount of love and attention from the American people. What could be more cowardly than me not taking responsibility for my work and passing it on to my fans? I am sure the people in this courtroom will agree with me.]
[…]
I heard a throat being cleared.
Even though Hitler stopped talking, no one in the courtroom opened their mouths.
[To all Rocketman fans across America, I hope you will respect today’s trial, because this trial is the best representation of the American spirit, and it is why I decided to write Rocketman.]
[You can never reach the right answer by mocking the other person. We are colleagues and neighbors living on the same world and planet. We must find common ground and unite through the spirit of freedom, equality, and fraternity.]
[The only way to find the right answer is to talk and discuss together. Just like we are doing right now in this courtroom. No matter what the conclusion, it is more important than anything to have a place for this discussion.]
[The whole world will watch today’s trial and learn once again the value of harmony and dialogue. There is harmony in division, and reconciliation in conflict. This is the most powerful force that America and democracy possess.]
“The power of America and democracy.”
Roosevelt muttered as he did so and let out a laugh.
Now, no matter what the verdict, it is impossible to criticize Hitler.
To insult him now would be like spitting on America.
Religion and science.
No matter what you consider more important, aren’t we all Americans in the end?
Hitler did not divide them, but rather lumped them together.
Pride in liberty, equality, fraternity and democracy.
Even the poorest farmer is proud to live in America, the land of the free.
Even if you don’t trust the government, isn’t there anyone who denies its founding ideology?
‘American patriotism lies in their ideology, not in their country.’
The same goes for the founding fathers.
From George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and Alexander Hamilton.
Although they all fought over the details, they agreed on the broad principles of democracy.
‘A hundred years later, some Austrian businessman took advantage of that.’
Could our founding fathers have predicted this situation?
While I was lost in thought, Hitler’s speech reached its climax.
The tone is getting higher and higher.
[As a free man standing on this earth, I can proudly say that I am a German and at the same time…]
[The fact that I am American!]
A kukukung sound came from the radio speaker.
For a moment, Roosevelt thought his receiver was broken, but then realized it was applause.
The people in the courtroom are whistling and clapping.
After a few minutes, the speaker-ripping noise gradually died down.
[The judge has declared a recess, and the trial will resume after a break. Adolf Hitler’s testimony, contrary to the press’s expectations, lasted several minutes longer, and the audience, including the jury, responded enthusiastically… Reporters from various countries are also busy reporting the news to their countries!]
Listening to the excited tone of the explanation, Roosevelt muttered without realizing it.
“Now I have to learn from Hitler.”
I couldn’t imagine what headlines would be in tomorrow’s morning paper.
