I Thought It Was a Fairy Tale but the Genre Is Strange - Chapter 71
Episode 70 – Queen (2)
Delphord, deprived of his manhood. Alice, as if her business were concluded, kicked him away with no restraint. Delphord’s heavy body flew like a shot towards the Queen. The Queen glanced at him but didn’t even flinch.
*Thwack!*
Blood sprayed everywhere. It was like a red rain falling from the sky. Before Delphord could even touch the Queen, he was stopped by an invisible barrier and his body shattered like fireworks, splattering chunks of flesh and innards all around. Only his head remained intact, rolling across the floor and stopping right in front of me.
Ugh, why does this crap always stop in front of me?
I nudged it away with my foot, making it disappear from my sight.
“Delphord…”
Snow White wore a complex expression. The other dwarves were the same. Especially Adel, who seemed greatly shocked, only stared blankly at the remnants of Delphord with his mouth open.
“Hee hee~ can you just get rid of our princess’s groom like that? Huh? Mother-in-law seems to have little love for her son-in-law.”
Alice, ignoring everyone else, approached the Queen and mocked her. The Queen sneered and said,
“If a deficient son-in-law chooses to kill himself, there’s no reason to stop him. There are plenty of other prospects lined up, so don’t worry. Hmm~ I think…”
The Queen looked at me and smiled brightly.
“My poison apple would be good. If it’s the Black Reaper’s child, it would possess equally special power. Then, I can raise a great army and help rule as the true owner of this world. How about it?”
“I’m not an apple, you old hag.”
Huh? I thought the Queen’s lips twitched greatly just now. The Queen stared at me intently, then slowly licked her lips with her tongue, like a gourmet savoring a delicious dish.
“No, it might be better if I just have your child.”
“Ugh! Stop saying such awful things!”
No matter how young she looks, marrying that old hag is a definite no! No, before, it was Gretel, and now the Queen…why are these weird women so into me?!
[Is she crazy!? How dare she try to take MY prince!?]
“Oh, look at you, our little queen, getting all bold. That luscious apple is mine, you hear?”
At the queen’s words, Ariel and Ellis flashed menacing glares, a warning. Ellis conjured water spears in both hands, while Ariel swung her mace in a furious circle, advancing. Left alone, the queen ignored them both, staring directly at me.
“Be glad. I’ll cherish you to my heart’s content in my chambers.”
Her words sent shivers down my spine. Ugh! I’ve had enough! I grabbed my scythe, immediately following Ellis and Ariel.
[Shut your trap!]
Ariel was the first to attack. Her water spears sliced through the air, hurtling forward with ferocity. *POP!* But like with Delphord before, the water spears burst without even touching the queen.
“How pathetic.”
As the queen spoke dismissively, a massive shadow fell over her. The shadow of a large, thick mace.
*CLANG!!!*
The sound of metal crashing echoed as the mace was stopped in mid-air. The queen looked at Ellis, who was still putting in effort with a bored expression.
“Is that all you could muster to challenge me?”
“Heh~ Then how about a taste of poisoned apple?”
“What?”
At Ellis’s words, the queen noticed me charging from behind. She glanced at me, then let out a small, derisive chuckle.
“How adorable, trying to wield that giant scythe with such a frail body. But no matter how much of a poisoned apple you may be, you’ll never break my barrier….”
“The hell I won’t, you hag!!!”
*WHOOSH!*
A soft sound of something slicing through the air. To be precise, the sound of the barrier being cut and dissolving. My all-purpose scythe, capable of even cutting magic, sliced through the transparent barrier. And with that, the mace, poised to crush the queen’s skull, lunged forward to complete its mission.
“Kyahahaha! Your expression is art, you old crone!!”
A look of panic spread across the queen’s face. The mace was a hair’s breadth away from her head, and countless water spears conjured by Ariel were piercing the air, ready to turn the queen into shish kebab. Yes! This might end surprisingly easy!
If this attack works, the queen will die, and we’ll get a happy ending.
But then I realized.
The queen’s expression was so utterly bored, it was disappointing. She moved the index finger of her left hand, the one wearing the red ring.
*Click.*
“Ugh!”
Everything was a blazing red. I couldn’t see anything, and suddenly it felt like my body was floating in the air, then a series of thuds and dull pain hit my whole body. What? What the hell just happened? My eyes stung so badly from whatever got in them, tears were about to spill out.
I roughly wiped my eyes with my sleeve. Only then did I realize the culprit that invaded my eyes was blood.
*Swooshhh.*
Blood rain was falling from the sky. Ominous. Something was going terribly wrong. In the spot where the queen had been, a blood storm was raging. Where were Ariel and Ellis?
[Ugh, what kind of unbelievable power is this!
Ariel was collapsed in a barn nearby, shaking herself as she got back on her feet. On the other hand, Ellis was standing strong against the blood storm. It was like she was enjoying the fight, smiling brightly.
After a moment, the storm subsided and the queen appeared from within. Ellis seized the opportunity, and in the blink of an eye, she was right in front of the queen. *Wham!* Her war hammer was swinging to crack the queen’s skull.
But the barrier I’d broken seemed to be instantly restored, the hammer failing to touch the queen, blocked. Even so, Ellis didn’t lose her smile. Rather, she pressed on with sheer strength.
*Crasssh!*
The sound of shattering glass rang out and the queen’s barrier was smashed to pieces. But even in that situation, the queen was just calmly smiling.
She lightly flicked her finger.
*Shhhshshsh!* A cluster of pure white light formed around Ellis, then thick iron chains poured out from inside. The chains instantly gripped Ellis’ arms and legs.
“Heeey, you think you can hold me with something like that?”
“Just for a little while.”
The queen said, smiling brightly. Something was ominous. It didn’t feel like Ellis was being overpowered at all. But why? Why was I so dreadfully afraid?
Alice instantly thrashed her body this way and that. The chains cracked, and she felt that with a little more struggle, she could break free.
The Queen, indifferent to whether her chain magic was breaking or not, licked her lips and reached her hand toward Alice. Long, sharp fingers aimed for Alice’s head.
“Kuh!”
As the chains broke and she was released from her constraints, Alice suddenly let out a painful groan and clutched at her head.
“Alice!!”
A red magic circle symbol was etched onto Alice’s forehead. What was she up to!? Ariel and I rushed towards Alice at the same time.
The Queen, watching Alice writhe in pain, whispered,
“Ho ho, you struggle so much. Indeed, you are worthy of being the general I marked. But accept it. If I become the master of this world, I can grant your wish.”
“Ughh! Shut up!!!”
“Seeing you wander with the Black Reaper, it seems you wish for your story to end, but how much longer do you think you have to wait? Aren’t you tired? In this strange world, unable to return home.”
“I said shut up!!!”
Alice swung her mace wildly. The Queen, with a slithering motion, smoothly avoided her mace. And then she approached her again, circling her, and whispered,
From noble mtl dot com
“I can do it. Returning home. You can find your loved ones, your dear family, your familiar everyday life. With me, you can.”
“Hah, do you think I’d fall for your lies, you wench!?”
“It’s not a lie. You are already exhausted. How long have you been trapped here? Hmm? If I only obtain the poisoned apple and Snow, you will return home immediately. Look, see.”
With a wave of the Queen’s hand, an image formed in front of Alice. I could see it clearly too. People who looked like Alice. Alice’s family. They looked like they were about to cry and were desperately calling out for someone.
‘Alice! Where on earth did you go!’
‘Waaah! Alice, please come back.’
‘Alice, I miss you…….’
Alice stared blankly at the scene, tears streaming down her face.
“Uh, Mom. Ah, Dad.”
Shit, how the hell did this happen!
“Alice, don’t look! It’s all fake!”
[What are you gawking at! Kill the evil queen right now!]
Despite our shouts, Alice’s gaze remained glued to her family. The queen smirked triumphantly, her crimson lips moving.
“Does it seem fake to you? No, it’s real. If you help me, you can be in their place. I’ll make it happen. How about it? Don’t you want to go home? To your longed-for home.”
“Ah, ahh. Home. I, I want to go home.”
The moment Alice uttered those words, her pupils turned red.
