I Was Reincarnated as a Villainous Noble Who Gets Killed Midway Through the Story but It Looks Like I’ll Be Executed as a Traitor if I Try to Do Good Deeds - Chapter 83
83: Embracing Uncertainty
For now, there are two people I need to be cautious of in the academy: Musca and the teacher, Ike. If I focus on one, I’ll be too careless towards the other. According to the flow of ‘Destiny Blood,’ Ike is the one who will take action first.
However, relying solely on my knowledge of the original story will make me unable to respond when something unexpected happens. That’s why I can’t underestimate Musca. I’d like to believe in him, but…
Ike is a highly evaluated teacher, after all. If he doesn’t do anything bad, that’s the best scenario. The next best thing would be to prevent the incident from happening. However, both are difficult to achieve. I can’t just wait and do nothing, either.
So, I’ll take action. It’s a gamble, but I’ll give instructions while I’m in my room.
“Milra, can you investigate the teacher, Ike?”
“Of course, I can do that. If Rex-sama wishes it, I’ll do it somehow.”
“Then, investigate. But don’t get caught. In the worst-case scenario, I’ll handle it myself.”
“I understand. As your loyal servant, I won’t let you die.”
In reality, if Milra dies, it would be meaningless. My goal is to minimize the damage, even if an incident occurs. Therefore, it’s best not to force things.
If I wanted to kill Iku with brute force, I could do it anytime. However, that would require ignoring my moral principles and various problems.
Even so, there are other solutions, so I don’t think it’s necessary to risk Milra’s life. There’s no point in doing so. According to the original story, only a few people will die, and the probability of no one dying is higher.
To be honest, if someone I’ve never met dies, it’s sad, but I can accept it. That’s why I think it’s okay to say that Milra’s death is the worst scenario.
“That’s fine. Even if you fail, I can make up for it. Don’t forget that.”
“Of course, I won’t doubt the great Rex-sama.”
Now, what will happen? If Milra is in danger, it’s likely to be right before the incident. Iku is a teacher, so she knows that I brought Milra here. That’s why she won’t kill Milra easily.
Since I understand that, I can ask her to investigate. In other words, if I can identify the timing of the incident, that’s enough. I don’t think Milra needs to solve it.
With my knowledge of the original story, I understand Iku’s goals and the scope of the damage. It’s unlikely that she has a completely different goal.
So, I had Milra take action. The remaining problem is Muska. However, there’s not much I can do about it.
“Now, Muska will check, and Iku will investigate Milra. That way, the threat to the school will decrease.”
It won’t disappear, but it will decrease. Since there are two enemies within the school, and external problems will also arise, we need to be cautious. However, there’s no practical way to deal with the internal enemies. We can only respond accordingly when the incident occurs.
There are many things to consider, and during breaks, I always think about future countermeasures. If possible, I’d like to enjoy my student life.
“Rex-kun, do you have any worries? You can talk to me about anything.”
“Muska, even if I were worried, I wouldn’t need anyone’s help. I’m a genius, after all.”
To be honest, I’m on guard, so I can’t say it, but Muska is good at noticing my worries. She’s a woman who can deceive those around her.
“There’s nothing to worry about. Just saying it out loud makes me feel better. Besides, I want to be of help to you, Rex-kun.”
“Then, become stronger. At least, you’re not reliable in your current state.”
Even though I’m pushing her away, Muska continues to smile. If I were in her position, I’d be angry, but Muska’s acting skills are supported by tremendous effort. That’s why I understand her.
In other words, if she doesn’t betray me later, I think she’s a good person. She can make moves that others can’t, even if she’s hiding something. If Muska continues to act until the end, that’s on a saintly level.
“Rex-kun’s strength is impressive, but a person’s value isn’t just about strength. For example, I have many friends, so I can gather information.”
“You’re quite popular, aren’t you? So, what kind of person can reveal secrets?”
“For example, Iku-sensei. If you really want to know, I can even hear secrets from Julia-chan or Schtel-chan.”
I wonder if I’m easy to understand or if Muska’s human observation skills are excellent. Either way, it’s bad that my inner thoughts are being understood. I can’t make the Black family and their surroundings my enemies. That’s why I’m continuing to act. If that facade collapses, my life will be in danger.
However, I can’t show my emotions. I’ll just continue to play the role of the arrogant Rex.
“So, what’s going on? I’ll listen.”
From noble mtl dot com
“Iku-sensei has many bad rumors, like conducting human experiments and associating with cult members.”
Some of these rumors are true, while others are false. However, her actions, which are beyond the line of no return, didn’t exist in the original story until the incident. Therefore, if I can handle things well, there’s a possibility that I won’t have to confront her. Of course, the highest probability is that she’ll commit evil deeds as in the original story.
“So, are these just rumors? Have you found any evidence?”
“Hehe, actually? Iku-sensei has a hidden passageway in the school. Do you want to know where it is?”
“I know. It’s a path connected to the underground, right? I think it’s behind the bookshelf in the library.”
It’s probably reckless to reveal that I know this information. However, if I show suspicion towards Muska, the possibility of her becoming an ally will be zero. I couldn’t abandon that.
“That’s correct. You have the right information, don’t you? I want to be of help to you, Rex-kun. I’m worried about you, trying to do everything alone.”
“Do as you like. I’ll do what I want to do.”
“I’ll support you, Rex-kun, in any way I can. You can tell me anything, even if it’s a bit shady. I’ll help you.”
Considering Muska’s bright smile, gentle voice, and words, she’s trying to become my ally. However, based on my knowledge of the original story, I can’t trust her. Which one is correct? Trusting or doubting others.
“I don’t have any shady secrets. If you’re expecting something, then give up.”
“That’s fine, then. I don’t want to do anything bad either.”
I wish Muska’s kind and considerate face would become genuine. I can’t abandon that fantasy. Am I too soft?
However, I haven’t become her enemy yet. Trying to eliminate her would be a bad move, regardless of her true intentions. At least for now, she’s trusted by everyone.
In the end, I’m still stuck in limbo. If I don’t resolve this, I’ll probably make a mistake someday. That’s how I feel.
