Cordelia kept her mouth shut. An awkward silence flowed between the two. Unable to even imagine making eye contact, she just stared at the ground. She gathered her courage and barely broke the silence that seemed like eternity.
“Um. I’ll just go in… …”
“Uh, I need to rest. Hmm. Rest.”
“Yes. I, uh, finished my homework.” None
of the sentences exchanged were smooth. Cordelia hurriedly left the lab without looking back.
Leonard only confirmed that the door was completely closed before roughly running his fingers through his hair. A sigh escaped him.
He knew that Cordelia was feeling burdened, but he couldn’t hold back the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
It wasn’t a will, but more like an instinctive struggle. His feelings for her were surging and swelling to the point where he couldn’t hold them in any longer.
Leonard felt so confused because it was the first time he felt such diverse emotions towards a person. Before he was born and met Cordelia, humans were divided into two categories to him.
Leonard himself and the rest.
The rest included his family, colleagues, and subordinates. There was no need to divide them. They weren’t that important to Leonard. He didn’t feel it was worth it.
But Cordelia wasn’t one of the ‘rest’. She was a much more special and greater being who didn’t belong in either of the two.
That’s why it was painful.
When Leonard confessed, he noticed the embarrassment on Cordelia’s face and felt his feet fall down. He had expected it, but when he actually faced her, his breath caught in his throat.
It was also out of character for him to block her answer. If Baron had known about this, he would have clicked his tongue.
“You’re acting like a fool.”
Just like Candias right now.
The demon who had been watching their conversation from a little distance away said with his eyes wide open. Anyone could tell that he was holding back laughter at the thought of making fun of someone.
“Get out. I’m already upset.” “Aggravated? Hehe. You’ll see how much you’re upset because of women.” “
I told you to get out of here.” Leonard pushed Candias, who was clinging to him while washing his face, away. At that, the devil got even more excited and started talking nonsense. “Anyway, I’ve been showing off all over the world, but I can’t even say a word in front of a woman, like a dog that needs to take a dump.” “Shouldn’t you shut your mouth?” “Where do I have a mouth? Do you see this with your mouth? And who would confess like that? Even if I did it with my feet, it would be better than that. Hey. You don’t know much because you’ve never met a woman, but women have always been… …” Candias coughed in vain and continued to show off. Leonard kept his mouth shut and remained silent. The devil, who was mumbling nonsense, suddenly turned his head to look at the contractor. It was so quiet that he felt uneasy. “Are you done?” “… … I think I’m done. Why? What? What do you want me to do?” “Then give me your eyes. I’ll blind you.” Leonard said, gathering magic power in his palm. Candias just ran away. * * * “How about we rest here today?” “Very well. Sir Mervan.” “You can call me Gasil.” The brown-haired man said with a mixture of politeness and goodwill. Since the kidnapping incident had not been long ago, two men were accompanying him as his escorts on his trip to the capital. One of them was naturally Beluche, and the other was a knight he had seen in passing before, named Gasil Mervan, a typical knight. “How many times have you seen me before to act friendly?” Beluche, who had been listening, blurted out as she passed by. Gasil didn’t even turn his head in that direction. After several days of traveling together, it was clear that the two men were not on good terms. To be exact, Gasil ignored Beluche and Beluche was jealous of Gasil. Cordelia felt tired whenever those subtle emotions clashed, but she pretended not to know because there was no reason to mediate between them. In fact, just thinking about what had happened to her was enough to fill her day. ‘What should I tell my master when I get back?’ More than the news of her father dying, or the two knights secretly fighting, it was Leonard who was shaking Cordelia. Whether sitting or standing, sleeping or awake, her head was filled with his thoughts, leaving no room for other things to interfere. “Ingrion?” Cordelia raised her head at Gasil’s short muttering. It didn’t feel like she was calling Beluche. As expected, Gasil’s gaze fell on the numerous knights and servants occupying the first floor of the inn.
Their shoulder armor had delicately drawn peonies and birds on it, the same as the ones on Beluche’s scabbard. I glanced at Beluche’s side profile. However, I couldn’t tell what he was thinking because his face was expressionless.
“Oh, I’m sorry, your majesty. Our inn is currently renting all of its guest rooms from the Marquis of Ingrion.”
A man who seemed to be the innkeeper saw Cordelia and her party entering the inn, ran over, and bowed his head.
“Oh, are you part of the Marquis’ party?” Then
suddenly, the innkeeper checked Beluche’s scabbard and asked.
“No. We’re not part of the party. If there are no guest rooms, we’ll go to another inn.”
Cordelia answered hurriedly. She remembered clearly that the Marquis of Ingrion had tried to kill her son.
She shrugged her shoulders slightly and tried to leave the inn. However, the moment she approached the door, a dagger flew out quickly.
The dagger collided with a clear sound and bounced off. When the sword was pulled out, the young man of the black -headed was a great attraction.
“What are you doing?” It was a good thing to do with the sword, which was barely a lifeline . Or maybe Beluche was too strong. Beluche swung her sword a few times and soon the tip of the sword touched Noah’s neck. Even Cordelia, who didn’t know much about swords, could see the overwhelming difference in skill. “Do you think I’ve been a brat who got beaten up by you for so long?” “This bastard… … .” Noah, stained with anger, glared at Beluche while grumbling. Beluche, on the other hand, didn’t show much change in emotion. Rather, he looked a little tired of this situation. Without hesitation, he lowered his sword from Noah’s neck and said, “If you don’t want to be embarrassed any more, why do n’t you just stop?” “Ik! What are you doing! Are you going to just sit back and watch?” Noah turned around and shouted at the Ingrion knights who filled the inn. Then, an older knight who seemed to be the leader of the Ingrion knights cautiously approached Noah. “Noah, the Marquis will be arriving soon. Stop… … .” “What? Stop? Who are you to tell me to do this and that?” Noah swung his sword sheath at the old knight as if venting his anger. There seemed to be ample room to dodge, but the old knight tolerated the violence as if he were used to it. Cordelia, who had been quiet until then, met eyes with Beluche. Beluche nodded slightly toward the door. Noticing the gesture, he said to Gasil, “Let’s get out of here.” “Yes. That would be good.” Gasil opened the inn door without letting his guard down. However, as if something had happened, a new figure stood there when he opened the old wooden door. The moment Cordelia saw the cold-faced, black-haired man, she realized who he was. “You really have the same eyes as Beluche?” She remembered what Leonard had said in passing before. She could now understand why he had said that the Marquis of Ingrion and Beluche had the same eyes, so he could not deny that they were his sons. When Beluche’s eyes occasionally shone in the sunlight, their black pupils would turn golden, and the old man in front of her was the same. “What is all this?” “Oh, father.” Noah stopped his hand in surprise when he saw Marquis Ingrion opening the door and coming in. The old knight who had been beaten without a groan finally got up, staggering. Marquis Ingrion strode towards his son and raised his right hand to slap Noah on the cheek. It was so strong that Noah, a grown man, staggered. “You can’t eat because you were told to be quiet.” “Ugh.” “Go to your room.” Marquis Ingrion didn’t even ask for an explanation of the situation, such as why Noah was hitting the old knight. Noah hid his reddened cheeks, as if he was embarrassed by being beaten in front of so many people, and ran up to the second floor. The Marquis didn’t even bother checking Noah’s movements and turned straight towards Beluce. “And you, what are you doing here?” “I’m on guard duty.” “Guard?”
Surprisingly, unlike his attitude toward Noah, Belluce was obedient to Marquis Ingrion. The Marquis’ eyes fell on Gasil and Cordelia in turn.
“Sir Mervan. And you?”
“My name is Cordelia Vasquez.”
He didn’t even want to say the usual, cliche phrase of “nice to meet you.” However, it seemed like the other person had a different idea, because Marquis Ingrion’s eyes instantly changed when he heard Cordelia’s name.
