Beluche turned around after hearing her scream, but the knight, who had no visible magic power, just looked in the wrong direction.
“Get out of the way!”
Cordelia quickly ran over and grabbed Beluche’s cloak. Beluche staggered back a few steps. A blackened mark remained where he had been standing.
“What, what?”
There was no time to panic. The magic moved as if it were alive and shattered the door. The only good thing was that the entity that moved the magic power appeared before her eyes.
“You were inside?”
Maximilian poked his face out from under the remains of the broken door. The sight was so terrifying that it sent a chill down Cordelia’s spine.
“But why aren’t you answering?”
With every step he took, black magic dripped onto the floor like water. It felt more like he was not controlling the magic power, but rather overflowing because he couldn’t control it.
Cordelia was curious when she saw that. I heard that Leonard made him unable to use magic anymore, but why?
“How do you use magic?”
“How do you know that? It’s only in the eyes of the devil… … , Ah. I can see it.”
He grinned as if he had a brief epiphany and walked toward her with a limp. However, his movements were very different from usual. Although he limped on one leg, his posture was very upright as expected of a nobleman, but now he couldn’t control his body properly as if he was drunk.
“But where is my brother? Brother, brother! I’m home!”
That wasn’t all. He suddenly shouted in a loud voice. His actions were also indifferent, as if he was drunk. Even though he clearly saw Cordelia and the two knights in the room, he kept looking around and only looking for Leonard.
“I think he’s out of his mind.”
Belluce muttered, having come near Cordelia. Cordelia inwardly agreed. Compared to when he had first broken down the door and come in, Maximilian was not that aggressive. He was busy waving his hands and just looking for his brother.
“But how did he know that Master was here?”
“It’s possible that Elector Embly let the word slip.”
Gasil answered Cordelia’s words, holding the handle of his sword tightly. Leonard’s words suddenly came to mind.
‘He pretends to join hands with me on the outside, but who knows what other schemes he might be plotting with Maximilian.’
Unfortunately, it seemed that Master was right. Anton seemed unable to give up on his daughter in the end.
“Gasil and I will attract Maximilian’s attention for now, so you go to the Master in the meantime.”
“Where is Master?”
“He said he was going to the East Wing.”
Gasil answered. Cordelia hesitated and nodded. Belluce ran to Maximilian, shouting loudly on purpose.
“I will cut off your head here and offer it to the Master!”
“Where did Ingrion’s illegitimate son dare to do that?”
Maximilian’s pronunciation was inaccurate, as if he had bitten his tongue. Beluche swung his sword at him. However, Maximilian fell down bleeding so easily that his nervousness was insignificant.
“Ah, ahh!”
“What the? Wasn’t this a full-grown brat?”
Maximilian trembled like an insect as he lay sprawled on the floor. Beluche laughed at this sight and raised her sword again, stabbing it into Maximilian’s abdomen.
No, she tried to stab it.
“Ahhh!”
Just before the sword touched his abdomen, Maximilian let out a thunderous scream. At the same time, magical power burst out of his body as if it was exploding. Not only Cordelia, but Beluche and Gasil could clearly see the black energy overflowing in their eyes.
Beluche sensed something strange and took a few steps back, but it was already too late.
“Whoa!”
A black lump-like thing burst out of Maximilian’s body and struck Beluche without realizing it. The force was so strong that Beluce, an adult male, was pushed all the way to the wall.
The black mass soon wrapped Maximilian in a circle and formed a barrier. Soon after, it struggled as if trying to break free of the thin barrier, looking like a snake breaking out of an egg.
“I, huff, huff, I’ll meet my brother, huff.”
Maximilian’s figure gradually distorted. His back became increasingly hunched, and his neck was bent in a bizarre way. His fingernails grew longer and longer, and no one could tell that he was not human. It was as if he was changing from a human to a demon.
“What the hell?”
Cordelia flinched and stepped back. Unfortunately, Gasil could not answer Cordelia’s question.
“Stay back. There’s a big commotion, so the master will be here soon.”
Gasil took a deep breath and said resolutely. Cordelia followed his words and quietly stepped back.
Meanwhile, Beluce, fortunately not seriously injured, kicked the remains of the broken chair with his foot and jumped up.
“Yeah. It wouldn’t be fun if I just died. How much my master suffered because of you, but it’s so pitiful if the ending is so vain? Gashil!”
All he did was call his name, but Beluche and Gashil simultaneously rushed at Maximilian as if they had made a promise.
“Ugh!”
“Aim for the right!”
Gashil shouted. Beluche followed his words and stabbed Maximilian in the right side with his sword.
However, Maximilian’s strength, now completely out of his human form, was beyond imagination. Beluche and Gashil’s attacks were blocked every time, and they had to dodge as they went back. Every time Maximilian swung his hand, the furniture shattered.
“Hoo, hoo, you filthy bastard.”
His body was not human, but his pronunciation was much clearer than before. His body, which had been staggering as if he was drunk, stood up straight.
Soon, there was a sound of bones breaking from both sides of Maximilian’s body, and something like insect legs emerged. Beluche openly laughed at that.
“Haha, you look like a stray dog to anyone. You happen to have six legs.”
“I’ll crush your head and kill you, Ingrion.”
“Try it.”
Beluche didn’t back down a single word. Gashil silently rushed at Maximilian.
Just before the two of them got close, Maximilian lowered his body and moved quickly. It really looked like a bug, so to be honest, it was disgusting. Cordelia pressed her palm against her lips to suppress her vomit.
Fortunately, Gashil’s sword cut off half of Maximilian’s leg on his side. Nevertheless, Maximilian only furrowed his brow briefly and recovered from the cut area surprisingly quickly.
“Monster, monster. A monster!”
“Eww!”
A few of Embly’s soldiers ran in amidst the chaos, but ran away in fear at the sight of Maximilian. After sending them away several times, the master of the castle finally appeared.
“What’s going on? “ A demon?”
“Maximilian Attila,”
Cordelia answered, approaching Anton. Anton frowned and glared at Maximilian, who could no longer be called human.
“That?”
“Yes. I don’t know how he became like that.”
Cordelia paused for a moment and stared at Anton for a long time. Meanwhile, the knights of Embly were helping Beluche and Gassil to stop Maximilian.
“Is this the Elector’s decision?”
“What do you mean?”
“Maximilian already knew that you were here.”
“He knew? How?”
Anton looked back at Cordelia as if he was puzzled. Cordelia stared up at him. Anton read the resentment in her eyes.
“You think I told you. But no. I already spoke with Elector Attila and promised to hand over Maximilian’s soldiers as soon as he arrived at Hasimus.”
“But you haven’t given me the antidote yet. Isn’t that something you still want from the Master?”
“That is… … .”
“Lady Cordelia!”
She had deliberately kept her distance from Maximilian, but Maximilian had already come right up to her nose. Not only Beluche and Gasil, but also the knights of Embly threw themselves to stop him, but it wasn’t easy. He crawled like a snake, overtaking all the soldiers and flying towards Cordelia.
“Get out of here!”
Anton pushed Cordelia away. She staggered back. Thanks to that, she was able to avoid the unfortunate event of Maximilian’s swinging arm or leg, but Maximilian immediately drew up his black magic and attacked Cordelia again.
“Die, die, die!”
It happened so quickly that Cordelia didn’t even have time to put up a defense. She had prepared herself for the pain that was to come, but instead, Maximilian was thrown back. At the same time, the ring Leonard had given her lost its light and shattered.
“Haa, haa.”
Without missing a moment, Cordelia quickly put up a defensive barrier. Maximilian climbed on top of her. His pupils, facing each other closely, had completely dilated.
“Do you know why I can see magic in you? It’s because of the dirty blood flowing through your body.”
“What, what?”
“How dare you look down on Attila? You are a child of the devil. You are a beast with the devil’s blood.”
Maximilian swung his arms wildly, shouting words she couldn’t understand. Cordelia barely managed to block them, but her breath hitched.
“Everything went to hell after you came to Abrams. If only you hadn’t been here, if only you hadn’t come to Abrams!”
This time, Maximilian’s voice became thin like a woman’s. Then he blurted out the words Helena had said to Cordelia, which he could never understand. Cordelia was so shocked that she couldn’t close her mouth.
But her surprise didn’t end there. He immediately imitated a deep male voice and laughed at Cordelia.
“Vasquez? Haha. You’re Vasquez? Those eyes of yours are the symbol of denial!”
“No, no!”
Cordelia denied with all her might. She couldn’t breathe otherwise. Her shield shook violently. It became so fragile that it seemed like it would break at any moment if touched. Maximilian didn’t miss the gap and opened his mouth wide. There were long fangs that were hardly human.
The moment he lunged at Cordelia’s head, he was hit by something and let out a sudden scream.
“Kuaaak!”
“You’re doing all sorts of things.”
“Master!”
The person he had been desperately waiting for finally appeared. Leonard blasted his brother, who had turned into a mixture of a demon, a beast, and a human, off Cordelia’s body and helped her up.
“Are you okay?”
