“Excuse me, Madam. But it’s time to go down now… … .”
She trailed off, unable to finish her sentence. Rosenblu said,
“I’ve taken up too much of your time. By the way, congratulations on your wedding, Lady Attila.”
“Thank you. Have you said hello to Leonard? The Elector will be very happy to see you.”
“No. I’m going to go now.”
“Where to?”
“I have to leave for Elfenbaum again.”
“You won’t attend the wedding?”
When Cordelia showed a disappointed expression, Rosenblu smiled gently.
“My appearance here would rather have a negative effect. It’s only been half a year since that happened. And I can’t be bothered on such a beautiful day.”
“But… … .”
“It’s enough to see you face to face and talk to you like this.”
Cordelia couldn’t hold on to him any longer because of his firmness.
As the greeting dragged on, the maid showed her impatience. Rosenbler, who noticed this, went to the door first. As she was about to leave, something occurred to her and she turned her back and said to her.
“You look so beautiful today.”
“Hehe. Thank you.”
“I’m you.”
“Huh?”
Rosenbler took a deep breath and soon became silent.
“Nothing. Congratulations again.”
He simply looked at her with unreadable eyes and left.
Cordelia was puzzled, but she didn’t bother to call him. As she was about to leave the room with the maid, a familiar black-haired man appeared, wandering around.
“I’ve come to pick you up.”
“Huh? Why did the Marquis come to pick me up?”
Belluce responded politely, despite her irritated expression.
“Elector Attila, who is anxiously waiting for the bride down below, is wondering where the bride has gone.”
“Where would I go?”
He snorted briefly and held out his hand to her. Cordelia smiled and took his hand.
“It’s an honor that the Marquis is even escorting me.”
“Yes. I’m honored.”
He answered dryly. He was wearing a tight-fitting suit, unlike usual, and he looked like a wild bear dressed in human clothes. As Cordelia laughed, Belluce looked down at her.
“By the way, how old is the Marquis of Ingrion?”
“Why are you suddenly asking that?”
“I thought it was time for the Marquis to get married, too.”
“I’m twenty this year. And I’ll take care of the marriage, so don’t worry.”
Cordelia stood tall. Belluce stopped as well.
“Why are you stopping? Hurry up and move. My master is waiting for you downstairs.”
“Twenty? Twenty? With that face?”
“What? What’s wrong with my face?”
“I thought you were much older than me. You were completely old.”
“Old? You’re precocious.”
“Oh my. Younger than me. I never imagined.”
“Your mind is much more mature than that of Lady Attila.” She
slowly descended the castle stairs, bickering with Belluce. The interior of the castle was decorated with white flowers symbolizing weddings, so the fresh scent of flowers wafted with every step she took.
“Cordelia.”
When she reached the stairs on the first floor, Leonard, who had been waiting in the lobby, was delighted to see the bride. He sighed briefly, feeling impatient even as he waited for the bride to come down completely, and then climbed a few steps and half-grabbed Cordelia’s hand.
“Why are you so late? I thought you had changed your mind and almost chased you.”
“That’s why you sent the Marquis to come and get me?”
“I mean, I went out to meet you.”
Leonard answered as shamelessly as a snake.
“But why did you take so long? I thought you were going to die.”
He glared at her, holding her arm tightly as if she had been caught planning to run away.
“I was having a chat with Elector Elfenbaum.”
“What? Rosenblu came here? Without saying anything?”
“Yes.”
“Master.”
When the couple stopped moving, the Baron approached them quietly and whispered. The two walked back toward the prepared ceremony hall.
“What’s wrong? He never answered my letters. I’ll have to talk to him after the ceremony.”
“Hmm. I don’t think he’ll be attending the wedding. He said he was leaving right away.”
Leonard frowned slightly but didn’t ask why.
“What did you talk about with Rosenblu?”
“He just… … wanted to apologize to me. About what Lydia did and what he said to me before.”
“What did he say to you?”
Fortunately, the walk to the wedding hall was quite long, so Cordelia had a chance to talk about what happened that day. As expected, Leonard’s expression gradually sank.
“Why are you telling me that now? That bastard said that to you?”
“Laugh.”
“What?”
“People are watching. Laugh. What if they misunderstand that I threatened you and dragged you here?”
They arrived at the grand outdoor wedding hall in the gardens of Attila Castle. People were murmuring.
The guests turned around when they saw the bride and groom arrive. Cordelia quickly smiled faintly, as Baron had asked her to do before the wedding. She
had already heard about the wedding ceremony and had practiced the route many times yesterday, so she thought she wouldn’t be nervous, but she was a little nervous when she thought it was real.
Leonard chuckled as her breathing became ragged and her steps slowed.
“But you seem to be aware that you’re getting married. I thought you’d march proudly as if you were having a triumphal procession because you were acting so calm.”
“Oh my. A triumphal procession. Ugh, but the dress is so attractive. You won’t trip over it, right?”
“We practiced yesterday. Hold my hand tightly.”
Cordelia held her husband’s hand and walked together on cue. He walked slowly forward, considering his wife’s stride. The guests sitting on the chairs stood up and began to applaud.
Cordelia saw many people.
Belluce, who was yawning slightly as if she was bored waiting for the couple to enter, Matilda, whose eyes were slightly red, Kanon, who was applauding enthusiastically, and other Seirius who were familiar with him, as well as King Gabriel and the other electors, were all filling the seats.
“It’s a very happy day. The reason we are gathered here today is because God has permitted it… … .”
She certainly wasn’t nervous at all before the wedding, but as the ceremony progressed, Cordelia’s nervousness grew stronger rather than relaxing. That’s why she didn’t hear a single word the priest said.
Leonard noticed the bride’s condition and whispered in a small voice,
“Why are you shaking so much?”
“Oh, you’re not shaking?”
“Now?”
He snorted. Cordelia swallowed the saliva that had gathered in her mouth and held her husband’s hand tighter.
Then the priest pointed to a place and said,
“There will be a ring exchange.”
Before she could ask why they were exchanging rings when they already had rings, she saw a gray dog standing at the end of the aisle the bride and groom had walked down, wearing a flower crown and a ring pouch around its neck.
“Pfft.”
Cordelia couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of Lottie’s sullen face.
“When did you prepare that?”
“A few days ago. “I don’t mind being told I have to wear a crown.”
Lottie trudged toward them. The gray dog bent down to help her take out her ring pouch. Then he gave her a polite congratulation.
[Congratulations on your wedding, Cordelia. Be happy.]
“Thank you, Lottie.”
Leonard took a pair of rings out of the pouch Lottie had brought him and put them on Cordelia first.
“But why the rings? You already have them.”
“The more rings you have, the better. You can change them depending on your mood.”
“Oh, really?”
“Now, put them on you too.”
He held out his hand. Cordelia put a platinum ring, which resembled his hair, on her fourth finger, which had the inscription on it.
“I’ll make you happy,”
Cordelia muttered as if she was determined. Leonard laughed at that.
“How?”
“Every morning when I open my eyes, I’ll tell you that I love you.”
“Again?”
“No matter what happens, I won’t leave your side.”
“Again?”
“I won’t die first.”
“… … .”
At the last words, Leonard’s playful expression disappeared and he became serious. He cupped her cheek. Cordelia squeezed his hand. And he swore once more.
“I won’t leave you alone. I promise.”
