At that time, Lily chewed her lips and popped out.
“That’s the kid that Lord Ingrion came to see? Why?”
“I don’t understand your question, Lady Dahlia. Is it strange that I came to see this person?”
“But that kid, do you know that kid?”
“Vasquez is one of the eight sacred families. Lady Dahlia.”
Unlike you.
He said the mockery politely. Lily’s face immediately turned red when she realized what he meant.
Ingrion naturally escorted Cordelia’s left arm and said,
“May I ask you to guide me to the castle, Lady Cordelia?”
“… … Yes. Of course.”
There were many questions he wanted to ask, such as when he had last seen me and called me by my name, and why he had come to see me, but he hid his nervous expression and walked calmly.
The intense gazes of the others made the back of his head sting.
He passed the courtyard and entered the castle. Cordelia stopped first when the servants coming and
going were no longer in sight. “Let’s wrap things up here. Who are you looking for?”
“I told you. You. The note said to find Cordelia Vasquez with the white snake. Didn’t you send it?”
“Me?”
“If he was pretending not to know, then it would be plausible.”
If he was a guest called by Leonard, then he could understand the situation.
He probably borrowed her name because he couldn’t directly reveal that Leonard was here.
“It seems like you’re not looking for me, but the lord.”
“The lord? Your husband?”
“No. Leonard Attila. Our, uh!”
It happened in an instant. The friendly gaze that had been there just a moment ago cooled down and without hesitation, he grabbed her neck tightly.
“You’re not the one who should be calling her name so carelessly.”
“Ugh, this… . Let go.”
“If this is a boring trap in his name, you better brace yourself. I’ll cut off your limbs and throw them in the fields as dog food.”
Her breath caught in her throat. She tried her best to strike his fist, but it was no use.
Just before the sky turned blue, he let go of Cordelia as if he had lost interest. She collapsed on the floor like a scarecrow made of straw.
“Ugh, ugh.”
“What are you doing lying down? I’ll show you around.”
He urged Cordelia, forcibly lifting her up, who couldn’t hold her up properly. Cordelia wiped away the tears that had formed in her eyes with her sleeve.
Her throat, which had been drowsy without warning, was very sore.
She was resentful, angry, and seething inside, but she held it in. Patience never betrayed her.
There would definitely be a chance to repay this humiliation soon.
Cordelia pretended to be indifferent and took the lead. Leonard’s room was not far away. She arrived at the door and knocked lightly.
“We have a guest.”
“Come in.”
When Cordelia tried to open the door, Ingrion stopped her. He grabbed the doorknob himself. His face, which I could see out of the corner of his eye, was filled with some kind of anticipation or hope.
Ingrion took a short deep breath and opened the door. And then he was disappointed.
“Are you kidding me?”
When he encountered ‘Craig Abrams’ instead of the person he had been looking forward to, Ingrion immediately glared at Cordelia and growled.
Cordelia instinctively took a step back, fearful of his momentum.
“What are you two planning, you two, to do this piece of trash…?”
“Veluce.”
“Shut up. I’ll kill you next.”
“Your fiery temper is still the same. Your foolishness of believing only what you see before your eyes hasn’t changed.”
Beluce’s head naturally turned at the familiar tone of voice. Leonard reached out his hand toward him as if to call him closer.
“You still don’t know who I am?”
Belluce approached Leonard very cautiously, her eyes still filled with suspicion.
“You really? But how?”
“I transferred my soul right before I died. Even though it was transferred to a trashy body.”
“Transferring my soul? Does that make sense?”
“What do you think I am?”
Leonard clicked his tongue briefly and waved his arm lightly. In the blink of an eye, the room turned into a forest. Cordelia, who had been pressed against the wall, looked around in surprise at the miracle Leonard had performed.
She could smell the scent of the earth on her nose. Cordelia opened her eyes wide and swept the floor. Dew dripped from her hands.
Beluche wasn’t surprised by the sudden change in environment. She just stared blankly into Leonard’s eyes.
It seemed like she was trying to figure out the truth, but it didn’t seem easy.
“Anyone can do illusion magic if they reach a certain level. Of course, Master, you could do it with one finger.”
“Huh. You don’t even know the first thing about magic, but you’ve been chasing after me and have become arrogant.”
Leonard snorted, but didn’t deny it. Rather, the corners of his mouth slightly went up.
“I never thought the day would come when I would have to prove my existence to you.”
“Answer me. Where did I first meet you, Master?”
“I don’t know. How can I remember all that?”
“Then where did I pledge allegiance to you?”
“Do you think I still remember that?”
Each and every one of them gave half-hearted answers. He didn’t show any will to prove his existence. Cordelia, who was listening from behind, felt frustrated and hit her chest.
‘No, what if you answer like that? Or at least pretend to recall your memories.’
Even with the indifferent answer, Beluche remained silent. Then, as if he had finally remembered something, Leonard raised his head slightly.
“Oh, there’s something I remember.”
“What is it?”
“You grabbed my ankle and begged me to accept you as your subordinate, right?”
“… … .”
“You said you’d die if I didn’t accept you?”
“… … I don’t remember that.”
“No. My memory is bad. Should I tell you more? When you were fifteen, I beat you up and you fell into the river.”
Leonard chuckled as he told his rather detailed and one-sided memories. Even Cordelia, who knew nothing about it, thought it was quite plausible. She
slightly raised her head and looked at Beluche’s face, and his complexion had lightened considerably. It seemed that he had finally realized that he was Leonard.
The black-haired knight took a step toward Leonard.
“You… … .”
“Yes. I am Leonard Attila.”
Cordelia thought that even saying her own name was so unlucky that it was a talent.
Belluce pulled out the sword at her waist with the smile she had first shown Cordelia.
“If you are truly my master, you can stop this.”
“Huh?”
The situation happened in an instant. Belluce swung the sword she had drawn without a moment’s hesitation. Cordelia opened her mouth wide, forgetting to scream.
“Is this crazy?”
“Are you dodging?”
“Beluce. What have you been hearing from me so far?”
“Are you trying to dodge this too?”
Even without further explanation, the next part was chaos. The surrounding scenery that had been a forest had returned to a castle, and only the terrifying sound of a blade cutting through the air and the shouts of two men filled the room.
“Whoa!”
A dagger flew and stuck itself into the wall near Cordelia. She screamed in fright. Leonard’s gaze turned to that side for a moment.
“Yes. It’s been a while since you’ve been hit. Let’s reminisce.”
Leonard raised his clenched fist with a strange smile. At the same time, a thick plant stem sprouted from the ground and began to wrap around Beluche’s leg. He
was too surprised by the mysteriousness of the magic.
Beluche cut it off with her dagger without blinking, putting some distance between herself and Leonard. Then, she looked down sadly and said,
“My master would have knocked me out in ten seconds. Since it’s already been over twenty seconds, it’s clear that he’s not my master.” She
had seen many people in her life, but this was the first time she had seen someone so fresh and crazy. Cordelia forgot the situation for a moment and looked at Beluche.
It seemed that Leonard was the same. He laughed in vain and created a sharp ice sword again.
“I forgot how crazy you are.”
That was the end of the conversation. The fierce battle of wits continued again.
Fireballs were flying, various utensils were broken, and furniture was reduced to ash or smashed.
Cordelia was shivering and wanted to run away from this chaos as soon as possible. However, something flew at her every time she went to the door, so she couldn’t move her feet because she was scared.
‘Surely we won’t fight all day, right?’
Fortunately, the fight didn’t last as long as she had expected. Baron, who had been lost in thought for some time, jumped out and blocked the way.
“Veluce! How could you point your sword at me without recognizing me!”
“You get out of the way.”
“I guarantee it. This is Leonard Attila. Although his body is not yours, his soul is… .”
“Can’t you hear me telling you to get out?”
It happened in an instant. Without a moment’s hesitation, Beluce extended his sword and cut Baron exactly left and right.
Although it was in the form of water, Cordelia had heard from eavesdropping that when a summoned being was hit, the main body would also suffer similar damage.
“Beluce!”
Leonard shouted for the first time. He spread his palm wide and shot a huge ball of light at Beluce. At that, Beluce swayed violently and soon knelt on the floor.
Baron’s form, split in half, became very faint, but barely maintained its shape. Cordelia, who had been right behind him, quickly approached Baron.
“Are you okay, Baron?”
“Ugh… … Yes. I, I’m fine.”
Normally, water was as solid as wood, but now it was so unstable that Cordelia could pass through it if she put her hand in.
Leonard looked down at Beluce, who was kneeling on the floor, with very stern and cold eyes.
“How many times have I told you not to point your swords at each other?”
“Why are you the author?”
Beluche trembled slightly, clutching his abdomen in pain. Blood dripped from his ears and nose. Still, he did not forget to glare at Baron.
“What?”
“Why was that old, sick dog the first to know that my master was alive?”
“… … Haa.”
“I have searched for you for so long, why did you not even mention it to me? What do I have that makes me worse than that filthy dog?”
Beluche’s eyes were filled with envy that he could not hide.
