Jared laughed loudly, thinking they were bluffing.
“I guess you still don’t understand the situation because you don’t have anything in your head. Bring him to me right now!”
“Wait!”
Baron Lancaster bravely stood up from his seat in the midst of the urgent situation.
“Isn’t this a different story? Even if you obtain the title of earl by force, it’s useless if the council doesn’t approve. Why would someone who knows better than anyone do something like this?”
“Haha, if no one knows about this, it doesn’t matter.”
“Shut up.”
Beluche stood up from his seat. He naturally drew his sword. The knights behind Jared tensed up and raised their swords.
“It’s annoying to fight them one by one, so come at me all at once.”
Beluche shook his chin with his sword hanging down. There was a blatant disregard. They looked at each other and all three stepped forward at once.
“Yay!”
“Kreuk!”
“Next.”
In the blink of an eye, the two were lying on the ground.
It was clear that Beluce was bigger and taller than Jared’s knights, but he swung his sword so fast that it was impossible to see how he did it.
The remaining knights hesitated to advance due to the overwhelming difference in skill. Jared noticed their hesitation and shouted.
“What are you doing! Kill them right now!”
“Eww!”
The knight who seemed to be the leader shouted and advanced. Then the other knights gained courage and rushed at Beluce all at once.
Unsurprisingly, the fight ended in an insignificant way. It seemed like they had only swung their swords a few times, but the knights were lying on the ground, groaning.
Some of them lost their bodies, and blood splattered everywhere. The young attendant who had been standing behind them eventually couldn’t hold back his nausea and ran to the corner to vomit.
Helena and Arnold, who had been watching the whole scene, turned gray with their faces.
“T-you weaklings. Just, wait, wait. Don’t come near me. I said don’t come near me!”
Veluche approached with a bloody sword, grinning, which made it very bizarre. Jared screamed and waved his hands in the air.
“What should I do, Master? Shall I cut a thin line and hang it on the gate?”
“Whew!”
“Or shall I pierce his body with a spear and hang it as an example?”
Veluche chattered excitedly like a child who had received a new toy.
Jared lost all his will to fight just by Veluche holding the sword to his neck. He trembled and knelt on the floor.
“I, I was wrong. It was a foolish thought. The earldom is yours. So at least take my life. Please take my life.”
Jared looked at Leonard, who was sitting, and apologized with all his might. At that moment, Helena, who had been watching the situation, quickly changed her stance, approached Leonard, and whispered.
“Craig. Hurry up and kill that wicked bastard. “He dared to aim for the Earl’s throne, so if we let him live, there might be some danger left.”
“Hmm. That’s right. Beluce.”
“Yes.”
“Let’s take care of this woman too.”
“Craig!”
Beluce turned around and grabbed Helena’s head and threw her to the ground. Lily screamed and ran to Helena, crying.
“Mother! Craig, what the hell, how did you do this to her?”
“Didn’t you see that your mother just set a trap to kill me?”
“That’s all because she was tricked by that author Jared. You know how much your mother loves and cares for you, right?”
“Your excuses are really insincere. Don’t you have something more novel?”
“I don’t think there’s any room for reflection. Why don’t we just kill them all here and now?”
Beluce raised her sword and sneakily looked at Leonard. If Leonard had moved his jaw even a little, the sword would have gone down immediately.
“Ouch!”
At that moment, Arnold stumbled and fell with a short scream. The dagger that Belluce had thrown was deeply embedded in his thigh.
“Where are you running away like a rat?”
“Oh, Craig. Just this once, forgive me just this once. Your mother and uncle were really fooled. They were all fooled by him!”
“If you lie one more time, I will tear out your mother’s tongue.”
Lily’s face turned pale at Leonard’s threat. She looked around, trembling.
Then, by chance, she found the only person who was maintaining her composure in this bloody situation. Lily shouted at her.
“Cordelia!”
“Yes?”
Arnold was gasping for breath, clutching his bleeding thigh, and Jared was half-conscious after being subdued by Beluche. Helena was also thrown down, bleeding from her head. Baron Lancaster kept looking left and right, holding his breath.
But Cordelia was different. She continued to eat as if she were having a formal dinner alone.
“You talk to Craig. Okay?”
“What do you mean?”
“Craig is trying to kill your mother! How can you eat potatoes so calmly in this situation?”
“The potatoes taste good today,”
Cordelia replied calmly, taking a bite of mashed potatoes. She was serious. The potatoes went down her throat surprisingly smoothly today.
Lily couldn’t control her temper and screamed loudly.
“Hey! Don’t you understand the situation? Craig, your husband!”
“Lily. Don’t you know yet?”
“What?”
“This isn’t the time to be yelling at me, it’s the time to get on your knees and beg.”
“… … .”
“You don’t have to do it if your pride is hurt. It means you’re not that desperate.”
“You, you!”
Cordelia said softly. Then she turned her gaze back to the plate.
In the meantime, Beluce had picked up one of Arnold’s legs from the doorway and dragged him like a load, placing him next to Helena.
“Eww!”
It was probably intentional that he had picked up the leg that had been stabbed by the sword. Arnold screamed that he was going to die.
Of course, Beluce smirked and paid no attention at all. He tapped Jared’s head with the tip of his sword and asked his master.
“Should I kill him?”
“Hmm. Should I?”
“Count Abrams. Ha, forgive me just this once. I seem to be blinded by greed. If you spare me, I will leave this estate and never come back. So please, please.”
Of all of them, Jared was the quickest. He instantly acknowledged Leonard as the count and knelt down and begged for his life.
“Craig, Craig. It was Izada who ordered the knights to kill you. It was Jared Abrams who planned all this! He was blinded by the Count!”
“Can’t you shut up? You were the one who invited Count Abrams to dinner tonight!”
Arnold and Jared bickered and blamed each other. Leonard watched the tedious argument and asked,
“What do you think, Cordelia?”
“What?”
“Should we kill everyone here?”
“Not bad.”
“Cordelia!”
Helena, who had been silent for a while, raised her voice for the first time. She glared at Cordelia with eyes full of betrayal. It seemed that she had expected Cordelia to stop her.
“How can you be such a shameless woman who doesn’t know the kindness she has received! Instead of stopping her, you’re instigating her?”
“Instigating her? I respect the nobility of the former lady.”
“You, you!”
It was the same exclamation that came out when he was angry that Lily and her mother were not the same.
Arnold, who was next to him, grabbed Helena’s shoulder urgently.
“Sister. If you keep doing this, you might really die.”
“So? Even if I die, I can never bow my head to that thing!”
“The lady is right. It’s better to die cleanly. I can’t bow my head to Vasquez, who I bought with my money, and beg for my life.”
“Now, wait!”
“Craig. The lady’s thoughts are so noble, so let’s kill them all. I think that if we act like this, we’re actually dishonoring their honor.”
When Cordelia spoke without blinking, Leonard couldn’t hold back his laughter and let out a muffled sound.
He thought she would stop him out of politeness, but as always, her answer was unexpected.
“Really? Then let’s do that. I’ll do whatever the Countess says.”
For some reason, Leonard suddenly handed the decision over to Cordelia. At those words, Arnold and Lily became more anxious.
“No, no, mother! What are you talking about?”
“Sister. If you want to die, die alone. I can’t do that.”
Arnold seemed to have a strong will to live. He limped towards Cordelia on his dagger-pierced leg and immediately knelt down.
“I was wrong. It’s all my fault.”
“Do you really think so?”
“Yes. If you let me get away with this one time, I’ll spend the rest of my life atonement.”
“But your words are a bit short. Is that why? You don’t seem so desperate.”
Cordelia bowed slightly and spoke to Viscount Arnold on the floor.
Arnold furrowed his brow but soon fell flat on his face. He knew better than anyone that a moment of pride did not guarantee life.
“I’m sorry, Countess. I’m originally uneducated and lack the skills to treat my superiors.”
“Hmm. Yes. It’s more important to know your own shortcomings than to learn. What do the other two think?”
Lily and Helena looked at each other’s faces at Arnold’s betrayal-like surrender. Lily was the first to speak.
“I, I think so too.”
“Me?”
“… … I think so too. The Abrams title is entirely Craig’s, but my mother and uncle are blinded by greed.”
“Lily!”
“Madam. Lily is talking. What are you going to do if you interrupt without manners?”
Cordelia calmly reprimanded Helena. Helena’s face turned bright red.
