Mount Athos Expedition – (2)
Oracles were issued at temples of Athena throughout Greece.
The oracle’s content was to recruit an expedition force to eradicate the monsters gathered at Mount Athos together with Orion, son of Poseidon.
The gathering place for the expedition was the Kingdom of Macedonia near Mount Athos.
“You said all the monsters that need to be defeated are gathered there?”
“It must be true, since the oracle of Athena said so. There are many monsters on Mount Athos…”
“I went to kill the monster, but I couldn’t see it.”
Many people from all over Greece flocked to Macedonia, unable to find a monster to slay.
If the expedition was created by the divine oracle, then he had hopes that he too would be able to accomplish amazing feats and become a great hero.
“If the son of Poseidon is the leader of the expedition, he will be able to receive the protection of the sea.”
“Orion is recruiting people to join his expedition in Athens! Do you want to go?”
“I heard that those who graduated from Thebes’ hero training school passed without asking any questions, but that’s a bit much…”
“Huh. Isn’t that discriminating against someone who came from the same training camp as you?”
The fame of Orion, the giant hunter, was so widespread in Greece that most heroes accepted him as the leader of their expeditions.
His arrows were known for their accuracy, having swept numerous hunting competitions in Greece.
However, there were many who were dissatisfied with the decision to unconditionally select those who graduated from the hero training school in Thebes.
The resentment eventually erupted when Orion chose a man of small stature because he was of the same origin as himself.
“Hey, Orion! Why am I eliminated and that skinny guy passed?”
A balding, black-tattooed Spartan warrior spoke with a disgruntled look on his face to the blue-haired giant, Orion.
But Orion took it lightly.
“That’s because Perieres over there is stronger than you.”
“What?! If it were you, wouldn’t you know? That guy doesn’t even look like he’s been properly trained?”
At those words, the man called Perrieres took a step forward and answered in a calm voice.
To be exact, I was trying to continue speaking, but it seemed like something was blocking my words…
“Huh. You haven’t even tried proper training? Have you ever fought a monster? Spin… Ugh!”
“…? What kind of nonsense are you talking about? Tell me where you come from and what you do.”
“Well. I guess I graduated from the hero training school. I was thinking about going to Messene and becoming king… I came here after thinking about that.”
At those words, the people around them who had come to join the expedition burst into laughter.
But for some reason, none of the Theban trainees laughed at him.
“Hahahaha! You’re acting like a king? This guy is really funny.”
“I guess I’ll have to work as a clown in a comedy troupe or something? Is it right to hire someone like this, Orion?”
“Orion, I think the way we select expedition members is wrong.”
Orion met Perieres’ eyes with a slightly embarrassed expression as he heard the cries of the numerous people gathered in Athens.
Ferrieres shrugged his shoulders as he met Orion’s eyes, then shouted loudly.
“Then how about settling things cleanly with a pankration? If I lose, I recommend that.”
“Ha! With Pankration? Good. Don’t blame me when you face Thanatos!”

At the gathering for the expedition, an unexpected fighting match, called Pankration, took place.
Spectators took their seats in a circle surrounding the two men competing.
Orion, holding his staff, judged the heroes, and they relaxed.
“Now, as per the agreement of the two players, we will proceed with the Kato-style pankration, so watch with that in mind!”
Cato-style pankration is a form of wrestling in which play continues even if a player falls to the ground.
As soon as the referee Orion finished speaking, the two, naked for the match, rushed at each other.
The first one was a Spartan warrior who swung his right fist with a roar, his massive muscles twitching and gaining strength.
But the punch passed by without reaching Ferrieres.
Finally, Perrieres counterattacks.
A demigod born of the wind god Aiolos, he could also control some of the wind.
The half-body’s fist swirls through the wind and rushes in like a storm, striking the temples, jaw, and head.
“Ugh… Ugh!”
Eventually, the Spartan warrior was hit all over his body by the merciless series of blows and he hesitated and stepped back.
But was he also a warrior? He raised his foot fiercely and slammed it towards the enemy before him.
But despite the fierce momentum, the attack was again not successful…
Ferrieres leisurely avoids the warrior’s attacks and provokes with a very mean look on his face.
“Tsk tsk. What are you going to do if you rush in so ignorantly? If you keep doing this, I won’t be able to trust you with my back even if you join the expedition team.”
“Shut up, you punk! Hwaap!”

The enraged warrior charges forward, reeling from the aftermath of countless punches, but his world turns upside down as he feels something dent his foot.
Ferrieres lifts and throws the staggering warrior as he is struck by the bridge.
Kuung-
The fallen warrior, whose chest rose and fell slightly, seemed to have not died, although he could have died from a concussion since he fell head first to the ground.
The fallen warrior, foaming at the mouth, was taken to a doctor by the people, and Orion judged the winner.
“As you all saw, the winner is Ferrieres! Also, if you think my judgment was wrong, come forward. I will deal with you personally.”
“Wow. That big guy got hit in an instant.”
“You knocked him out without even getting hit once. What’s with the movements…”
“What kind of training did you receive at Thebes?”
“Was that Spartan’s ankle just now dedicated to Zeus?”
“It’s not broken, so I don’t think that’s it.”
The warrior who was just carried out was also muscular and looked strong,
People backed away quietly at the sight of the giant hunter, who appeared to be twice as large as them…
As those who questioned Orion’s judgment disappeared, approximately a few hundred people were selected to join the expedition.
Some of these heroes were from Thebes, but there were also quite a few who were not.

Before leaving for Mount Athos,
They moved to a mountain quite far from the kingdom of Macedonia and prepared a special ritual to obtain the protection of the gods for this expedition.
Dozens of prey, including deer, leopards, and birds, were piled on a wooden altar, and armed heroes lined up underneath.
Then Orion, the leader of the expedition, approached the altar with a torch, lit it, and spoke loudly.
“Oh, Olympian gods who watch from the clouds! Protect these brave warriors who hunt monsters!”
Kwarrung!
As if the gods were responding to that cry, a blue lightning bolt suddenly fell from the clear sky and struck the altar.
As the brief but intense lightning stopped, all the animals on the altar disappeared.
“Rain… thunderbolt?! Is Zeus watching over this place?”
“This expedition is drawing the attention of not only the goddess Athena, who gave the oracle, but also the gods of Olympus!”
“It was a good decision to come to Athens, for this expedition was definitely…!”
The heroes cheered, thinking this was a response from God.
This was clearly a chance to make a name for himself. There was no hero whose heart did not beat as the gods watched their journey.
Orion also raised his voice again and shouted loudly.
“I will hunt all the beasts and monsters that exist on earth and offer them to the Olympian gods!”
A remark that is so arrogant and even mad that it is beyond belief.
But the best hunter in Greece, Orion, could say the same.
Until a voice was heard echoing from the earth.
You will hunt all the beasts and monsters that exist on the earth? Child of Poseidon. Can you take responsibility for that statement?
The heroes were confused by the sudden soft voice. What on earth is this voice?
This awe. It’s definitely a god. A god… Aren’t the Olympian gods blessing this journey?
“Who the hell are you?!”
Orion asked the unidentified goddess… and the heroes hastily drew their weapons.
After a moment of silence, a majestic yet gentle voice came into their ears.
…I am Gaia, the Goddess of the Earth. You will pay the price for daring to insult the Earth.
Gaia, the goddess of the earth? According to mythology, she is the grandmother of Zeus…
Protogenoi?! What is this…
They were the ones who let their imagination run wild, but they couldn’t continue their thoughts any longer.
Because the ground suddenly began to split apart from a little distance away.
Ddddd… sizzle.
As if an earthquake had occurred, a huge crack in the ground gradually spread.
The shaking that shook the surroundings continued for a while, and the heroes could not hide their bewilderment at this sudden turn of events.
But it was still too early to panic.
From the great fissure that had opened… countless monsters that should have been on Mount Athos crawled out onto the ground.
Krrrr… Krrrr! Shhhh-
“Wow… Chrysaor of the Golden Sword! This can’t be… Why is a monster born from the severed head of the goddess Medusa here…!”
“My goodness… a two-headed dog with a snake’s tail… that’s Orthos! Who knew there’d be a child of Typhon too!”
“Request assistance from the city immediately, we need more reinforcements!”
“What the hell! Zeus…!”
