Lord of Training - Chapter 24
Only Krnovel
24. Tiger’s Den.
24. Tiger’s Den.
The plan I had in mind was simple.
If you want to catch a tiger cub, go into the tiger’s den!
Just in case, here are the Imperial Army rifles and uniforms I picked up while subduing the defeated troops at the Ferring City Canyon Gate before.
Wear it, disguise yourself as an imperial soldier, and infiltrate the capital.
Now that we have the big plan in place, we’re working on creating a detailed plan to make the infiltration perfect.
After calculating and planning this and that, I realized that in order for this to be successful, I absolutely needed the cooperation of one person.
No, it’s an elf······.
I went into the company supply tent.
“Hey! Evolod, it’s nice to see you often, isn’t it?”
“Are you going to keep dragging me around like this?”
“Let me remind you again. You killed our soldiers. Almost an entire company. So if I hand you over, you’ll be shot. I’m letting you live.”
“Should I be thankful for that?”
“of course.”
“Originally, war was about killing each other. Death is irrelevant.”
He shook his head.
Elfran, indifferent to death.
So, don’t just take up a shield and charge into the enemy lines.
“How will you rebuild your clan if you die? You need to find the legacy of your elven ancestors. Don’t you want to gain strength from that and become independent?”
“When I die, another elf will do it.”
“With that spirit, I will rebuild my clan.”
“Don’t be sarcastic. We’re doing our best.”
“You’ve been working together for decades, but you haven’t received a single inheritance? That’s proof that the Empire has broken its promises. And you’re the ones who keep your promises. You’ll end up living as slaves to the Empire for the rest of your lives.”
Evolod frowned at the fact assault.
They must be feeling it by now.
But, in a situation where the entire clan was dependent on the empire, it would have been impossible to question them without evidence.
They were single-minded from the beginning.
“Let me make a suggestion.”
Evolod shook his head.
“Okay. I feel like I’m being strangely dissuaded when I talk to you. Just hand me over.”
“I will give you the elven heritage I have.”
“what?”
Evolod’s pupils doubled in size.
“Really?”
“Yes. You may not believe it, since you’ve been deceived for so long, but it’s definitely not a bad offer for you.”
I told Evolod what plan I had in mind.
Evolod had a serious expression on his face the whole time.
“If I help you infiltrate the capital, you’ll give me that gravity generator?”
“Yes. And there’s one more thing. I need to secure a woman, and I need your help.”
“female?”
“My name is Aina. I am an Imperial Army lieutenant with subspace warehouse skills.”
“Poohaha!”
Suddenly Evolod started laughing.
“Why are you laughing?”
“Aina is a pseudonym.”
“······?”
“Her real name is Scarlett Modes. She is the Seventh Princess of the Lacrosse Empire and the Quartermaster of the Fourth Army Corps.”
“what?”
For a moment I was dumbfounded.
So, Commander Huxley gave us the mission to kidnap the Seven Princesses of the Empire and smuggle them back to their home country.
The valuables inside the warehouse are a bonus.
If we kidnapped her, the Empire would not sit still.
They will probably chase us until we die, and even if the mission is successful, most of our men will be killed.
Why is there no normal person in this world?
It seems like the commanders’ heads are full of nothing but achievements.
Everyone acts only for their own benefit.
You could tell that the Allied Forces were going to win the war just by looking at them and taking advantage of the situation.
I had been a little concerned about him secretly taking things, but in an instant, that discomfort disappeared.
“I really didn’t know. Perhaps those who gave you the mission knew her true identity.”
“I guess so.”
“I appreciate the offer of inheritance, but I cannot help kidnapping her. That would put our clan at risk.”
Evolod smacked his lips with regret.
I know.
The elf clan is basically being held hostage.
If Evolod finds out that they cooperated in kidnapping the princess, their clan will not be safe.
But my goal is not the princess.
“Who said we were going to kidnap the princess? We just need to be near her.”
Evolod made a puzzled expression.
So I told him the detailed plan.
“So she’s not the target, but her subspace warehouse is?”
“You already know that Sergeant Duncan can copy the opponent’s skills. We plan to use that ability to raid the princess’s subspace storage.”
“It wasn’t kidnapping······.”
“You don’t have to break your promise to the Empire. You won’t be suspected. And aren’t you curious?”
“······?”
“I wonder if there is any elven heritage in her subspace vault?”
“what?”
The Kingdom of Lutes has been the region with the most Labyrinth Gates for over 20 years.
In the meantime, the Kingdom of Lutes, which has cleared the Labyrinth Gate, will have discovered a considerable amount of the legacy of its elven ancestors.
And the Imperial Army has been collecting valuables from the Kingdom of Lutes for the past three years.
I don’t know, but there must be quite a lot of heritage in the princess’s subspace right now.

[Forest outside the capital Loire]
“Sir, why are we going in there?”
“That’s right. If I get caught like this, won’t I just die?”
“Wouldn’t it be better to just wait at the crossroads as originally planned and catch the lieutenant?”
Sergeant John Cutter and Corporal Chris, dressed in Imperial soldier uniforms, asked with expressions that looked almost tearful.
I didn’t tell the men in my company that the lieutenant was a princess.
But you’ll find out soon enough.
“Hurry up! The patrol will be here soon.”
At my answer, the two men gave up cleanly and quickly put on the Imperial soldier’s clothes and picked up the Imperial rifle.
Now, anyone can tell that we are imperial soldiers.
And so the night infiltration operation began.
“Okay! Let’s move quietly.”
We headed north of the capital through the dark forest.
Just a moment ago, the Atlan soldiers had passed quite easily, saying they were checking the situation at the front lines, but the problem was the imperial soldiers who had taken control of the capital.
“stop.”
I took out the gravity generator and waved it in front of Evolod.
“If we do something wrong, this too will be lost forever.”
“We elves always keep our promises. You keep your promise.”
I know.
That elves are good at keeping their promises.
Because of that promise, I have been fighting for my life, being held hostage by the Empire.
But this time, we’ll find out exactly who broke their promise.
I shook the gravity generator once more and placed it in the alchemist’s workshop.
“Anyway, whenever you feel like killing me with this sword, remember the legacy of your ancestors.”
“Ugh!”
I gave Evolod his sword and shield back.
Evolod began walking in front, his sword tucked into his waistband and his shield in hand.
“Are you sure it’s okay?”
Sergeant Phelps followed behind and asked.
“It’ll be okay. His situation is pretty dire.”
Of course, even if it wasn’t Evolod, it could have been discovered by the Imperial Army.
At that time, I decided to fly into the air and escape north.
Because in the northern sky, the 7th Mobile Corps’ aerial magic knights take turns patrolling.
Crunch!
The sound of a machine gun loading was heard from ahead.
We lay flat on our stomachs, and Evolod raised his shield high.
A mysterious blue light flowed from the shield reflecting the moonlight.
“I am Evolod of the 8th Brigade! Who is the commander here?”
There was silence for a moment.
We could see machine guns and numerous rifles aimed at us from above the trenches.
If anything, it will turn into a beehive.
Just then someone came up over the trench and came towards us.
“I’m Lieutenant Leopard. I hope you’re okay, Colonel Evolod.”
A colonel?
Didn’t I tell you that I have classes?
“Who is in charge of this front line? Is it Lieutenant General Koshin?”
“No. Commander Gosin was killed in the Allied bombing at Pascaltes. The person in charge here now is Major General Den Barak.”
“Where are you now?”
“If you continue south along the main road, you will reach Brna Square. There is a temporary command center there.”
“I get it.”
“But what about the soldiers behind you?”
At that moment, my heart started racing.
If Evolod were to reveal our identity here by any chance, I would immediately spread my air shield skill in all directions and run away into the air.
Of course, that won’t happen.
“These are all soldiers who survived with me. Please guide them inside.”
“Yes! Follow me.”
Evolod kept his promise.
We followed the captain down into the trench.
“Huh! It’s the silver-haired Grim Reaper!”
“Oh my god! I heard you died in battle!”
Imperial soldiers let out exclamations as Evolod passed by.
“As expected of an immortal! He came back alive.”
Evolod seems to be quite famous among the Imperial Army.
But the nickname of the Silver-Haired Grim Reaper was so fitting for the man who ambushed and devastated the 4th Battalion.
We passed through the Imperial Army’s triple trench line safely.
“Whew! I thought my heart was going to burst.”
“I think I’m a little tired.”
Me, Phelps, John, Chris, Duncan, and Jester.
The six of us breathed a sigh of relief.
These were the awakened flying magicians who could fly into the sky and escape if necessary.
Of course, he wasn’t Duncan, but since he had copied his low-speed flight skills, he could have escaped with us.
In short, we only selected members who could quickly emerge.
The capital, Loire, was a large city with a population of one million, but many people had fled, and it was very quiet in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep.
“Where to go now?”
Evolod asked.
“Do as I said.”
“Okay! Let’s go to the command center.”
We headed straight to the square where the Imperial Army’s command headquarters was located.
Here and there, soldiers were setting up barricades and preparing for street fighting, and anti-aircraft guns were installed everywhere to deal with the aerial magic knights.
‘Are you planning to fight to the death?’
Without reinforcements, their chances of winning were slim.
We arrived at the square.
The soldiers guarding the entrance to the command center saluted Evolod when they saw him and immediately cleared the way.
He had a free pass here.
He’s more famous than I thought.
Well, it’s a monster that charges into the enemy lines with a sword and shield, cutting down any enemies it comes across, so how strong must it be if you look at it from the same side.
There is no hero like that.
The command center here was also quiet, with only the occasional footsteps of patrolling soldiers being heard.
Evolod stopped the patrolling soldiers.
“Where is the command tent, sir?”
“If you look over there, it’s the tent in the center.”
Evolod looked at us.
“You wait here.”
“yes!”
Evolod headed to the command tent.
The soldiers glanced at us and then started patrolling again.
Phelps asked.
“I went to the command tent. Is it okay?”
“It’ll be okay. If you don’t report it to your superiors, they’ll get suspicious.”
“I guess so.”
“Phelps, let’s get started.”
“yes!”
As the patrolmen moved to the other side, Sergeant Phelps activated his magic detection skill.
Where did the Imperial Army hide the princess with her vast treasures?
The Imperial Army also knew when the Allied Forces would launch a full-scale attack.
There were still five days left, so it was likely that he would be safe here in the command center until then.
We were literally in a tiger’s den.
“There are more reactions from Magic than I expected?”
“Let’s start from somewhere close by first.”
Phelps moved stealthily with Duncan to a nearby tent.
The method was simple.
Duncan approaches the tent of the person with the magic reaction alone and copies the skill to check the awakening technique and skill.
According to Evolod, Princess Scarlet only has one subspace storage skill, so if she’s here, it shouldn’t be hard to find.
After a while, Evolod emerged from the command tent.
“The Commander has entrusted me with the escort of Princess Scarlet.”
“what?”
I don’t know about the Imperial Army, but it’s like leaving the fish in the hands of the cat.
This was unexpected good news.
“Where is the princess, or rather the lieutenant Aina, now?”
“We are not staying at the command center here, but at the hotel north of the square.”
“Good. Quick, bring Phelps and Duncan!”
We regrouped and headed straight to the building where Lieutenant Aina was staying.
***
The entrance to the inn was heavily guarded.
But there was no soldier who could stop Evolod.
And now he was Princess Scarlet’s bodyguard.
We went inside, and after a while the princess in lieutenant’s uniform came down from the upper floor with her knights as her escort.
Evolod bowed his head slightly as he handed over the orders.
“From now on, I will protect you.”
“It is an honor to have you serve as my escort, Colonel Evolod.”
Princess Scarlett also bowed her head.
She looked at me and the soldiers.
“What about the soldiers behind you?”
“These are the soldiers I brought. They will be guarding you from a close distance until you leave the capital.”
“You guys have had a hard time.”
Scarlett looked back.
There stood a beautiful female elf.
“Arta, provide lodging for Colonel Evolod and his soldiers.”
“Yes, Lieutenant!”
As Scarlett and her escort knights ascended, an elf named Artara stepped forward.
She looked around and knelt on one knee before Evolod.
“I see the prince.”
