Rust - Chapter 41

RUST-41
Maru thought after seeing the text message that Kim Yang sent.
Judging from the fact that he was telling her to do it coolly, it didn’t seem like a very serious situation. If there was a high possibility of getting involved, there would have been some kind of anxious reaction, like, “When are you coming?” or “Are you coming at night?”
‘Well. I told you I was going to be late, so you should take care of it.’
If there were any signs of being involved with the company, I wouldn’t have just said I didn’t know and had no countermeasures.
‘No way? No, of course not.’
Miss Kim may be a bit immature, but she’s not stupid. She’s decisive and quick-witted. That’s just saying I don’t know. Who on earth did she make dinner plans with?
I said I was late because I didn’t want to get involved, but it wasn’t like I didn’t have any work to do. First of all, I had to get the refrigerated truck loaded with an unknown amount of money. Money, gold bars, foreign currency, but equipment was also important.
From firearms and protective gear to swords and emergency food. I had packed a refrigerated truck full of them, so I wasn’t going to throw them away. You wouldn’t go abroad and start off empty-handed, right?
But if Ki-sun finds out, she’ll grab him by the scruff of the neck again. Since there’s so much luggage, I can’t just load it without Ki-sun knowing… I guess I’ll have to bring it and tell him… Maru, who had decided to distribute it coolly, said to Ki-sun.
“Hey, Ki-sun. I’ll go to Gyeonggi-do for a bit after signing the contract for the ship and come back late.”
“Gyeonggi-do? Why all the way there?”
“I have something to bring.”
“Really? In Gyeonggi-do? I heard you cut ties with all your relatives living in Bundang and Seongnam?”
Ki-sun was looking at Maru’s face with a subtle expression. Is this the fucking attention method? Is this mind-reading? Maru looked at Ki-sun calmly. Ki-sun nodded with a face that seemed to be wondering if it was effective.
“What- I set the hotel check-in time for tomorrow at 11 AM. Remember the time. But after checking out, I’ll eat something and do something, and in the afternoon, I’ll be checking the boat, buying and delivering things, receiving deliveries, and so on. I think I’ll be gone tomorrow too.”
“Then shall we leave tomorrow night?”
“As I said before, it’s best to avoid nighttime sailing if possible. That’s why I thought it would be better to postpone the departure that was supposed to take place tomorrow until the day after tomorrow… After thinking about it carefully, I realized that this isn’t going from Busan to Jeju or Incheon, but to Japan, and if we have to go all the way to Tokyo Bay and then return to North or South America, it’s not something that can be done with just a one-day inspection and preparation.”
“Why don’t we just set off and grab a little bit each time we stop at a Japanese port?”
Up until now, I hadn’t caught Ki-soon using people, but when I was with Ki-soon like this, if I ran into the company, there was no answer. You wouldn’t cross the river hand in hand with a friend just because you didn’t want your friend to catch you using people, right?
Once on the boat, what if I told Ki-sun that Miss Kim is a woman who shoots guns, and Miss Kim uses a knife on Maru? How about telling her that they are helping each other out like this?
“Speak sense. Didn’t you see the news? Oh, you went out to pick up that girl, right? While you were out, another one erupted in Japan. Was it the Kumamoto volcano? No, there’s a big one called the Aso volcano near Kumamoto, and it erupted and caused chaos in Kyushu. In eastern Japan, Tokyo and the surrounding areas erupted due to an earthquake, and in western Japan, volcanoes are starting to erupt, starting with the Kyushu volcano. Do you think it’ll be easy to get supplies? If you enter the port to get supplies and you can’t get them? What are you going to do?”
According to Ki-sun’s words, it didn’t seem easy to obtain supplies from Japan.
“Then, is it possible to prepare for sure in two days, today and tomorrow?”
“Hey- What did I say earlier? Normally, when you go on a long-distance voyage, you plan to go for a week or two weeks. Two days is not enough. If you weren’t being chased, you wouldn’t have done this kind of voyage. What if you were just stopping by near Kyushu and disappearing there? You’re going to North America, right? Or even South America? You have to be meticulous, even down to your nail clippers.”
Maru nodded and refuted Gi-sun’s words.
“Yeah, I admit that preparation is important, but, like I said earlier, I’m getting fucked in real time… It’s real, I’m really getting fucked. Even if it’s not enough, let’s just get going. Whether it’s night or dawn. Let’s get going, go to Jeju Island to get it, or if it’s too hard, go back to Yeosu or Tongyeong and get it there, or let’s just think about getting what’s lacking at another port and get it, and let’s get going as fast as we can.”
Ki-sun sighed deeply at Maru’s words and agreed.
“Be it navigational supplies or supplies, it’s easy to get them in Busan. In big cities like Busan or Incheon, you can get them easily and quickly, but in smaller cities, it takes another day to get them. Anyway, what can I do when you’re getting screwed in real time? I’ll try to set my departure date as early as possible, and I’ll have to run around today and tomorrow.”
“Call me anytime, day or night, if you have any hard work to do.”
“Of course, come out right away when I call you. If you don’t come out, I’ll kill you too.”
“Okay, okay.”
Ki-sun looked at the time and hurried to go sign the contract.

Royal Marina with white, swaying yachts moored there.
Ki-soon giggled at the sight of Maru looking at the sleek, luxurious yachts.
“It’s very different from what you see in the picture?”
“Yeah. It looks really good.”
“The newly built marinas here, in Incheon, and in Songdo are high-end. This is the only marina in Busan that specializes in luxury yachts over 100 feet long, so it’s fun to see all the luxury yachts gathered here.”
If you compare the boat my father owned before the family went bankrupt and the yachts moored here, my father’s boat was below the mooring standards here. It was probably a 40ft? No, it was a 50ft boat. It looked big and nice at the time.
“I was really lucky. The ship owner was talking about changing companies because the management company he had entrusted to them wasn’t managing it well, so it was easy to bring it up. We decided to rent it for 60 days for 2 months, and if we used it for more than that, the contract would automatically be extended by one day, and we would settle the accounts later. That was fortunate.”
“Thank goodness. I was really scared.”
Although I didn’t say anything, I was nervous for many reasons.
Ki-soon giggled at Maru’s words.
“It’s scary. If you see a 100ft class catamaran in person, it’s really huge. It seems like 30m is small, right? If you sail 30m with a catamaran, you’ll just go ‘wow.’”
“Just listening to you makes me go ‘wow.’”
The expression on Gi-sun’s face as he spoke was “Wow.” Close to “Wow.”
As soon as they got on the ship that they had agreed to contract with, Ki-sun’s senior greeted them warmly. And as expected of Ki-sun’s senior, the contract was concluded with the story of the birth of his yacht, the episodes that occurred during the construction period, the things that he wanted to do to change each and every part, and the trip to Southeast Asia on the yacht.
“i look forward to.”
“Don’t worry, senior. I’ll go with you.”
The senior smiled brightly at Ki-sun’s words.
“Don’t worry, there’s good insurance.”
Hahahaha- The laughing senior said to Maru.
“Pay for 60 days in advance. You said you’d give it to me in cash, right?”
“Ah- yes.”
“Okay. Won? Dollar? Yen? Euro?”
“I would like to do it in yen or dollars.”
The senior hesitated for a moment and then said he would accept half yen and half dollars.
“Senior, isn’t this a loss? Isn’t it because of the earthquake in Japan and the volcano that erupted that the yen is falling?”
“You don’t know, Ki-sun. Our family has already been hit twice. Back when the Kobe Earthquake happened, we sold the yen and it went up, and we got hit. When the East Japan Earthquake happened, we thought it would go down, so we sold it, but it kept going up. That’s not a normal neighborhood. Now that I have some spare change, I’m going to try the opposite.”
The exchange rate was calculated as 100 yen/1,000 won and 1 dollar/1,000 won, and instead, it was decided not to charge a separate fee for fuel. Maruya said that it was like renting a yacht for half price, so there was no major complaint. After all, if you bring a truck from Gyeonggi-do, you will have plenty of cash.
So the yacht rental deal ended coolly.
Shin Na-gi was busy calling the company and preparing to fix it.
“Hey- Then I’ll go to Gyeonggi-do for a bit and come back. I think it’ll take 8~10 hours from now to go back and forth. If you feel like something’s strange, just take a boat out to sea and contact me. I’ll go and come back and sort things out somehow.”
“So, if you think those guys chasing you are coming, you should just ‘run’ to the sea? If you ‘run,’ won’t it be King Gi-sun again? Don’t worry and go. By the way- I’ll take care of the communal things, but what you need, you have to take care of yourself? Clothes and other things, you know?”
Maru nodded at Gisun’s words.
Maru returned the rental car and rented another car with the ID of the employee he had organized in the suburbs. It may or may not work, but he didn’t want to drive around in a rental car that had a picture of Kim Yang in it.
Even if the organization found out that a dead member of the organization had rented a car and was chasing after him, there was no problem because he would change to a truck hidden in Gyeonggi-do. It was just a matter of getting through today and tomorrow, just one day.
“Huh- This is really tough.”
Maru rented a large SUV and stopped by an outlet to pick up some clothes. Every time he got involved with an organization, he would just throw away his clothes, so it was obvious that he would be in trouble if he went to Japan, where Hell Gate had opened.
Maru, who had packed up all the clothes and necessities, wandered around the kitchenware corner. He thought that if he brought the truck, there would be a lot of weapons there, including military daggers, so he wouldn’t have to go around chopping up kitchenware, but he felt bad because he was empty-handed.
While I was messing around with my gang outside of Busan, one of the sashimi pieces went bad, and the knife I used once was wobbling because I must have used it wrong. So all I have left is one knife.
Maru, who had been hesitating, sighed and picked a knife from the kitchenware corner.
The knife from this brand that I used this time had a weak handle, and the blade from this brand wore out quickly. Then, should I try this? It wasn’t available in Seoul? Maru looked at the knife with the colorful roses on it. Thinking about it, it was advertised a lot on home shopping. It was an advertisement, but rose-patterned sashimi was also rare.
‘Let’s do one with this.’
Is it because it’s Busan? There were many different types of sashimi knives and they were numerous.
As I picked up and held the knives, I felt a sense of relief.

World Hotel, Convention Room.
On one side sat a group of middle-aged men with a kindly look, on the other side sat a man in a dark suit who looked like an organized crime member, a man in some kind of special combat uniform like a soldier, and a short-haired woman with a long scar running diagonally across her face.
“That’s not what our Charlotte group did.”
“There is evidence like this?”
A file containing footage of the incident that occurred at the Charlotte Hotel in Jeju was played. The footage started with the yakuza picking a fight with Director Kim and his team members, and then showed them being killed and subdued.
“Why did you bring the yakuza to the Jeju Charlotte Hotel? Wasn’t it to sneak in?”
“The head office really doesn’t know anything about this. It’s the hotel manager’s arbitrary decision.”
The Charlotte executives’ remarks caused the organization’s members to raise their voices.
“Arbitrary? Are you really saying that it is arbitrary? So Miss Kim’s reservation of a room at Jeju Charlotte was also arbitrarily decided by the Charlotte Hotel president?”
“That’s right. The Charlotte Group has never had any intention of fighting with the World Group, not even now.”
A man in combat fatigues threw a photo of the World Livestock Fire on the table. It was a total burn, a ruin with nothing left.
“Our World Group has grown by forgetting kindness and paying back grudges tenfold and a hundredfold. But who blew up the biggest karma in the metropolitan area?”
“Our Charlotte group is definitely not like that.”
“Then why did that girl who was involved in the fire make a reservation at the Charlotte Hotel in Jeju, and why did those yakuza surround Director Kim and his team? If Director Kim hadn’t taken all the kids, all of our kids would have died there. But that’s not true!”
“No! This has absolutely nothing to do with Charlotte Group headquarters!”
Kang
A pistol was placed on the table with a thud. Colt Python Royal Blue Finish. The deep navy blue barrel exuded a cool, murderous aura. A short-haired woman with a long diagonal scar on her face opened her mouth, stubbing out her cigarette.
“The Charlotte Hotel is unilateral? Then, should we receive the Charlotte Hotel as compensation for the damages we have suffered?”
“What kind of nonsense is that!”
Charlotte’s executive shouted, as if he could not bear it any longer. The woman asked back in a languid voice.
“Or what? How can we compensate for the damage we have suffered?”
“This is outrage! If they threaten us like this without any proper evidence and try to take over the entire company, there’s nothing we can do! We won’t just take it!”
The spacious convention room began to erupt with screaming, fighting, and anger.
It’s a matter of the account.
