Saved The Kaiser - Chapter 499

Episode 499:
“Hans von Zoy thus remained chancellor until the death of Wilhelm III. He was chancellor even during the early years of the reign of Wilhelm IV, the father of the current Emperor Frederick IV, so it can be said that he served the Hohenzollern dynasty for three generations.”
“Wow~”
January 16, 2021, 80 years after 1941.
Exclamations echoed from Schönhausen Palace, the former home of the Choi-Kronberg family and where Hans and Luise lived, now bustling with tourists.
This was a question posed by children of various nationalities who were given a chance to tour Schönhausen Palace through a lottery to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the German Empire and the 119th anniversary of the birth of Hans von Tsoi, which will be held the day after tomorrow.
“What happened to Duke Hans after that?”
“Of course, as always, you have done a lot of work as the Imperial Chancellor.”
A girl in her early twenties with black hair who was acting as a guide to someone’s question answered in a cheerful voice.
“You may have heard of the world’s first astronaut, Erich Hartmann, leading space exploration, mediating the Indonesian War of Independence, and sending the world’s first UN peacekeeping force to Egypt, which started the Middle East War by joining hands with the Zionists… .”
And in his later years, he not only won the Nobel Peace Prize, but also wrote an autobiography.
However, because the autobiography contained the truth about the Russo-Japanese War and the German-British Negotiations, as well as other conspiracies and schemes that Hans had carried out, it made many people hold on to the back of their necks.
Of course, since this happened long before World War I, instead of getting angry, everyone just laughed it off, saying, “That’s Hans von Zod, after all.”
Even Bismarck, before Hans, often did similar things, such as the Ems Telegraph incident.
Thanks to this, German diplomats were criticized as being like British cousins, but this should be taken as praise when considering the disastrous German diplomacy in the history of the original country.
“In addition, he actively supported the restoration of cultural assets destroyed by the war and returned Korean cultural assets owned by the Duke to Korea without any compensation. Thanks to this, there is even a special Hans von Tsoi exhibition hall at the National Museum of Korea.”
“Korea is your hometown, right, Duke?”
“Yes, I heard that you left when you were too young to remember much.”
“I see~”
“Then, Your Majesty, you have never been to Korea since then?”
“That’s not it. The Duke visited Korea with King Wojciech, who was still a prince after being taken in by the Great Wilhelm II. In particular, in Asan, where the grave of Admiral Lee Soon-shin, the protagonist of ‘Immortal Admiral Lee’, who was made into a movie several times, is located… … .”
“Hannah, it’s almost lunchtime now, so take it easy. I’ll wake up early.”
“Oh! It’s already this late. Are you all hungry?”
“Yes~!”
“Then, let’s follow the teacher to the restaurant. The world’s best food (actually, it was more often said that it was a food that should not exist in this world), pineapple pizza and mint chocolate ice cream, prepared by Duke Hans, are waiting for you!”
“Wow~”
The children cheered at Hannah’s words.
Sure, some of the kids (especially the Italians and French) had dead eyes, but Hannah, who knew how to cook, couldn’t see it.
“You really can’t stop talking when you talk about Grandpa Hans.”
As Hannah watched the children follow their chaperone to the cafeteria, a young man who looked to be three or four years older than her spoke with a weary expression.
“Haha, I’m sure I could talk about him for a whole week!”
Of course, Hannah puffed out her chest as if she were proud.
“By the way, when will Prince Albert and Princess Diana arrive?”
“You will be arriving by plane tomorrow.”
“Hehehe, it’s been a while since all my relatives have gathered together~”
“It’s a grand event that Grandfather Friedrich prepared to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the empire. Everyone can’t help but come.”
“That’s right… … Ah!”
Bam!
As Hannah walked down the palace hallway, talking to a young man, she bumped into someone with a panicked voice.
“Grandpa, are you okay?”
“Heh heh, it’s okay. I was so focused on this painting that I didn’t even notice who was approaching.”
An old man, an old oriental man whose name I don’t know, but who somehow gives off a sense of unease.
“This picture is… … a portrait of Grandfather Hans and his family.”
“It’s not that famous of a painting, you know.”
“Haha, sometimes old people get distracted by things that don’t mean anything.”
“I see. By the way, you look like a tourist. Where are you from? Korea? Qing? Republic of China? Commonwealth of China? Ryukyu? Vietnam? Or one of the five Japanese?”
“Haha, it’s Korea.”
“I see~ But you speak German very fluently. If I just heard your voice, I would think you were German, not Korean!”
“I used to live in Germany a long time ago. And this time, I came here on a long vacation to see the commemorative event.”
Hannah nods as if she understands what the old man says.
It wasn’t particularly surprising, since most of the tourists in the palace had come to Germany for similar reasons as the old man.
“By the way, are you and the young man behind me the great-grandchildren of Duke Hans von Choi?”
“Oh, would you like to know?”
“I know your grandfather, the current Duke of Choi-Kronberg. I met him from afar when I was young, but I can’t believe those little kids are already so grown up. Time really flies.”
“Wow, what a coincidence. Isn’t that right, Wilhelm?”
“As we live, there are all sorts of things that happen.”
At Hannah’s words, Wilhelm, her cousin and one of Hans’ great-grandsons, muttered while running his fingers through his hair.
“Anyway, I hope you have a great time back in Germany. Hitler Land is completely free until the end of this week, right?”
“Haha, you’re not old enough to go to an amusement park anymore. And there’s a Hitler Land in Korea too.”
It was also the third largest Hitler Land in Asia, following the United States and Germany, established by Hitler as Hans’ hometown.
“Ha, what the hell happened to that damn mustachioed kid… … .”
“grandfather?”
“Oh, it’s nothing. As I get older, I have a bad habit of talking to myself. Well, I guess I’ll leave now.”
“Oh, yes! Please come to the commemorative event tomorrow!”
“Hehe, of course.”
“Hannah, let’s go too. It’s almost lunchtime.”
“Oh, really! Time really flies!”
Hannah sighed at the thought that having two bodies wasn’t enough, grabbed Wilhelm’s arm, and hurriedly walked forward.
“… … .”
And the old man, who had been looking at the sight with a smile, turned his head back to the portrait of the former owner of the palace and his family that he had been looking at until just now.
“Louise, you look a lot like me when I was younger.”
With deep regret.

Bang! Bang!
January 18, 2021.
Fireworks lit up the Berlin sky as celebrations began to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of the German Empire.
Chuck! Chuck! Chuck! Chuck!
Amidst the black-and-white flags, the German Imperial Army, still maintaining its iron discipline despite the end of the two world wars, marched majestically through the Brandenburg Gate and through the streets of Berlin, as tourists from all over the world came to see the commemorative events cheered.
For reference, the gun currently held by the German Imperial Army is the StGK (Sturmgewehr-Kalashnikov), which, as the name suggests, was developed by Kalashnikov, who was a disciple of Schmeisser.
However, Kalashnikov survived the gunfire of his enraged master after making eye contact with Schmeisser’s daughter, and evolved from a disciple to a son-in-law, changing his name to Michael Schmeisser, a German name.
It was a very famous anecdote among military enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, a significant number of people were gathered at the Schönhausen Palace in Berlin.
It was an event to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the German Empire and to commemorate the great German Chancellor, Hans von Zoy, whose birthday happened to be today.
“Are Father and His Majesty the Emperor here yet?”
“You two will probably be able to arrive later.”
“Shh, be quiet! It’s starting now.”
“Thank you all for taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit Schönhausen Palace.”
As Hannah and her cousins remained silent and focused their attention on the podium, Hans’ grandson, Reinhard’s son, and Hannah’s grandfather, Friedrich von Zoy, the current Duke of Zoy-Kronberg, slowly opened his mouth.
Unlike Reinhard, who followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and Hans after his military service and entered politics, he was more interested in business, including media businesses such as DRR, perhaps because he did not want to suffer through the paperwork hell, and was especially known as a big shot in the film industry.
Just looking at the works he invested in, there were countless masterpieces, including [The Kaiser’s Daughter], which dealt with the story of Hans and Luise, [The Princess’s Lover], [Immortal Admiral Lee], [Gamelin: Defender of the Republic], and [Captain Germania], which was based on the comic book by M Company.

It was a bonus that the Choi-Kronberg family’s wealth, which was already abundant, increased more than tenfold during his generation.
I enjoy my hobbies and make money, so I can say that I am living the life that Grandpa Hans wanted.
“Many people remember and evaluate my grandfather as a great man. If Otto von Bismarck completed modern Germany, Hans von Tsoi completed modern Germany. It is written in textbooks, so probably no one can deny it.”
As expected from a member of the Choi-Kronberg duchy, famous for its many handsome men and beautiful women, Friedrich, who had made many women cry since his youth, stroked his well-groomed beard and said.
“But the grandfather I remember was a great man, but also a humane man. He had no desire for power, unlike someone who had been the prime minister for a long time. Rather, it was a daily routine for him to resign every three or four months, saying he would quit the post and retire. Of course, he resigned from the post in 1976, a year before he passed away.”
“Hahahahahaha!”
People burst into laughter at the secret story of the Choi-Kronberg duchy coming from Friedrich’s mouth.
Of course, for Hans, who was unable to shake off the shackles of the Prime Minister’s office until he was 84 years old, this was a story that would have left him speechless and just shedding tears.
“The conversation has been long. Now, let us all raise a glass to the great Hans von Zoy, the first Duke of Kronberg!”
“For!”
Wow!
Descendants of Hans from Germany, England, Austria and elsewhere raised their glasses of wine and beer to cheers.
Flutter~
At the same time, a large white cloth fluttered and an unidentifiable, gigantic object standing in front of the Schönhausen Palace was revealed.
It was a statue of Hans holding hands with Victoria Luise.
“You damn punk. I told you not to make stuff like this.”
“Oh? You’re here, Grandpa!”
While chatting with her relatives, Hanna spots an old man she met the day before yesterday and approaches him with a happy face.
“How is it? It’s a nice statue, isn’t it?”
“Oh, um, I see. It’s a bit too flashy, but it’s a nice statue.”
“Hehehe. It’s a statue of Grandpa Hans, so it has to be at least this good!”
“I don’t know what you think about this, but it seems that Lady Hannah has great respect for Duke Hans von Chois.”
“yes!”
Hannah responded with a bright smile to the old man’s words.
“He is the great-grandfather I respect the most in the world!”
“I see. Hans von Tsoi would be very happy to hear that. I’m sure he would be.”
“Hehe, is that so?”
“Hannah, what are you doing here alone? Instead of enjoying it with your family.”
“Ah, Grandpa Friedrich! That’s… … Huh?”
Hannah turned her head here and there at the sight of the old man suddenly disappearing without a trace.
“Haha, are you done sightseeing on land after such a long time?”
“It’s a bit awkward, and Friedrich knows how old I look.”
And the old man, no, the spirit of Hans, stood from a distance with a smile and watched his bewildered granddaughter.
“By the way, how do you feel about seeing your descendants? Great Duke Hans von Tsoi.”
“Do you really need to ask that?”
“You can ask.”
“I won’t tell you, even if no one else knows.”
At Hans’s barbed words, the old man, the one who had given him an open bottle of Fanta in his previous life and brought him to the German Empire in 1901, laughed in disbelief.
“Are you still thinking about that time? You really are such a narrow-minded person.”
“If your life took a 180-degree turn without warning, wouldn’t you be angry?”
“Tsk tsk, you should be grateful if someone changes your worthless life. People these days have no manners.”
“You are no match for the Iron-Blooded Chancellor of the world, who has openly confronted the Kaiser more than once for not listening to him.”
“You son of a bitch. You won’t say a word.”
The old man, no, the Iron Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, shook his head as if he could not stop him.
“So, why me anyway?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Why did you send me to the German Empire instead of someone else? Now you know.”
“Hmm… … . Do you really want to hear it?”
Hans nodded without a moment’s hesitation.
Bismarck then opened his mouth with a serious expression.
“You were the only one who drank Fanta.”
“yes……?”
“Hahahaha! Just kidding. Why are you making such an idiotic face?”
“This fucking old man is for real!”
“Hahaha! Well, it’s hard for me to explain, but let’s call it a kind of intuition. I had a gut feeling that you would somehow be able to save the German Empire. Of course, I didn’t know that you would become Wilhelm’s son-in-law! Because of that, Wilhelm I strangled me several times.”
Bismarck burst into laughter again, as if he still found it absurd to think about it now.
Of course, Hans still had that pouty look on his face.
“Well, I guess it’s not a bad thing that there are worlds that meet this kind of ending sometimes.”
“… … I really agree with that part.”
“It’s almost time, so I guess I should go back now. Break time is over, so I have to get to work, work.”
“Ugh, why do I have to fiddle with paperwork even after I’m dead?”
“It is the destiny of the capable.”
Hans sighed and turned around at Bismarck’s cackling words.
“Cheers!”
With the joyful voices of descendants as the background.
– The author’s review continues –
Hello, readers. This is Lenny B.
Finally, the story ends after a long series that exceeded the author’s expectations by saving Kaiser.
For me, this could be considered the first completion of a monumental first work.
For now, I’m just sighing in relief at the fact that it ended safely haha.
Actually, I like reading novels and I enjoy them, but I’ve never really written a novel before.
I had the idea, but I never had the courage to try.
However, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to serialize it, and with the help and support of many people, including my readers, I was able to get to this point safely.
However, since this is my first time serializing a novel, I feel that I am lacking in many ways, and when I think about it now, I have regrets and think, ‘Ah, why did I do it like that?’
But as the saying goes, failure is the mother of success, I believe that the experience I gained through serialization will definitely be of great help to me.
Let’s leave off the story outside of the work, and talk about the work itself. In “Saved the Kaiser,” I started this work with the thought that it would be fun to have Wilhelm II and the German Empire, who appear as villains in many works, appear as main characters at least once.
Here, I added various ideas that came to my mind, such as the MacArthur Retreat and the Gamelin Mutiny, and created the current ‘Saved the Kaiser’.
However, since it is not a work where the plot itself is conceived and created in detail, there are many cases where the development is changed or added during the serialization;;
For example, in the original conception, the character who would become the French Ver. Hitler was actually not La Roque, but Pétain.
They tried to create a military dictatorship in France based on Pétain.
Likewise, in the case of Austria-Hungary, the original plan was for Franz Ferdinand to die in Sarajevo, and for the German population to split after World War I through Hans’s instigation, leading to the collapse of the empire and the Anschluss in Germany.
It was a shame that the Habsburgs almost ended up serving tea to the Hohenzollerns.
Of course, now both Austria and Habsburg have their own happy endings, but if everything had gone as originally planned, it would have been a development that would have had no bad ending.
There were also many other things that were cut or revised due to the plot, such as Hitler kidnapping Hans and Ludendorff during the Munich Beer Hall Putsch, or Dreyfus immigrating to Canada after World War I and then going to war again when the war with the United States broke out.
Especially in the case of Dreyfus, I still have some regrets because the Canadian portion was cut out to make the story unfold quickly.
Anyway, I would like to once again thank everyone who has loved and supported ‘Saving Kaiser’ so far.
I don’t know when that will be, but I will come back with a better work next time.
thank you!
