The Hero’s Brother Is Bound To Be Depressed - Chapter 243
244 – Spear of Shadow
I headed to the eastern part of the continent with Estelle for the first time. Unfortunately, my destination was not the city where Luna lived. It was a city called Dnu, which was closest to the Valley of Death.
As we left the portal station, Amber opened the window of the carriage and waved, as if she had been waiting for us in advance.
“Welcome. Lady, Lily.”
“Because of this greedy pig, I have to come all the way to the eastern part where there is no one to sell to… .”
At Amber’s greeting, Estelle groaned and sat down on the chair.
“Have you formed a dungeon exploration team?”
When Estelle asked with a crooked posture, Amber nodded calmly.
“of course. Because it is a stage-type dungeon, the adventurer party hired in advance has even completed clearing the path. When you arrive, just enter the last room.”
As expected, Amber handles her work neatly. The carriage moved and Ember began a brief explanation of the dungeon. The explanation was that the entrance to the dungeon had been sealed for almost hundreds of years, and there were many undead monsters inside.
Monsters like skeletons are a bit tricky for me as I use a spear, but I wasn’t too worried because Estelle would help me this time.
The carriage went up the riverside road and passed the entrance to Death Canyon. As Estelle began a conversation with Ember about handling matters related to Modest, I glanced out the window.
The coachman must have turned on the lights installed on the outside of the carriage, and the interior of the canyon, where sunlight did not enter, came into view. After looking at the insects disappearing in a hurry and the layers of dirt avoiding the light, the carriage finally stopped.
“Everyone can get off!”
I left the carriage as if I had been waiting for Amber’s words. The bitterly cold winter wind passed through the canyon. Thanks to the cold weather measures taken in advance, my nose was only a little cold and my body wasn’t shaking.
Amber got off the carriage and walked ahead. As we followed him, a camp soon appeared. She could smell burning oil and food lingering in the air.
They must have found the entrance to the dungeon by breaking the wall, and there were dusty rocks piled up next to it. Someone must have heard footsteps and came out of the tent. He was a man with a handsome mustache.
“Ah, this is Lloyd, the person in charge of investigating the dungeon.”
“Nice to meet you. I am Lloyd, a fourth-year adventurer and magician of the A-class class.”
Lloyd, who had a strong appearance thanks to his mustache, approached us affably and with a gentle smile. When Amber said that she would enter the dungeon straight away without resting, she nodded and packed the bag she had prepared in advance, making her look like an A-grade adventurer for no reason.
We entered the dungeon following Lloyd. The door was open, but due to the nature of the dungeon, there was no ventilation, so the smell of stale air felt a little unpleasant.
Lloyd, who had used magic to float an ember above his head, looked over his shoulder and spoke to us who were following.
“The adventurer party who has finished clearing the dungeon is waiting at the entrance to the last stage room. The adventurer party plans to exit the dungeon when we arrive. “Once we confirm that the party has left, we will immediately allow them to enter the final stage.”
“All right.”
After passing a few more rooms, I was able to meet the adventurer party that Lloyd had mentioned.
The balding man, who had been leaning against the wall and munching on jerky, whistled when he spotted us, signaling the party gathered around the campfire to leave the dungeon.
After waiting for a while, a bald man with all his luggage approached me with a smile on his face.
“You’re here. “It was neatly organized.”
“Thank you for your hard work.”
At Amber’s words, the man waved his hand and took out a piece of paper from his pocket.
“Oh, this is our job. “Then, please sign this request form.”
When Ember signed the request form as completing the mission, the man passed us and headed out of the dungeon with the party members, asking to be nominated again next time.
I suddenly got curious and asked Amber.
“Do adventurers usually do things like this?”
“sure. These are people who don’t mind cleaning up monsters in sewers if it means making money. “In particular, clearing out dungeons is adventurers’ favorite quest, isn’t it?”
As I was stroking my chin and looking in amazement at Amber’s explanation, Estelle snorted.
“I just like it because the request fee for dungeon cleaning is several times higher than other requests. Adventurers are the true money demons. “Remember it clearly.”
When Estelle nodded in agreement with what she said, Lloyd smiled and explained further.
“Haha, there is a strong perception that the best reward in a stage-type dungeon is the last stage. Well, it’s also true. In order to do so, dirty guys sometimes break the request and negotiate at the last minute to raise the ransom by threatening that they can take over the dungeon’s treasure. So it is common to nominate a trusted party.”
Lloyd nodded, impressed by the detailed explanation. It was a world I created, but these details were things I didn’t know. Should I say that it is fun to get to know it?
When I tried to ask more questions, Estelle, who noticed me like a ghost, quickly waved her hand.
“Okay, let’s finish it quickly and go back. “The air here is humid and I feel bad.”
Even before entering the dungeon, Estelle’s brows were furrowed. It seems that they don’t like the idea of coming to the eastern part of the country where there is a religious order.
“All right. The adventurer party just happened to be out of the dungeon.”
At Estelle’s urging, Lloyd looked around at everyone to see if they were ready. I took out the Spear of Destruction from the space warehouse, and Ember cast an arrow on the string of the bow she had brought with her when she entered the dungeon.
“Were you an archer?”
When asked that question because it was her first time meeting someone who used a bow, Amber smiled as if it was no big deal and answered in a low voice so that Lloyd could not hear.
“As an assassin, you must know how to use a variety of weapons. And the bow is the weapon I mainly use.”
“Then does your successor, Estelle, know how to shoot a bow?”
Seeing Amber silently rolling her eyes, Lloyd looked at the back of the little girl who was constantly grumbling behind her. Yes, people can’t be good at everything. Honestly, I feel like there are a lot of shortcomings…
“Let’s go in!!!”
With Estelle’s shout breaking his thoughts, Lloyd opened the door to the final stage. As I entered the dark interior, the door closed by itself behind me.
“Be careful because you never know what might come out. “First, I will brighten the vision!”
When Lloyd waved his wand, small spheres emitting white light began to pour out and roll everywhere like beads.
Degurrrrr… Tuk-.
The marble that was rolling forward hit something and stopped. A pure white light illuminated a shape hidden in darkness.
“Kaaagh―――!”
The thing running towards me screaming was a monster with green skin.
“It’s an orc!”
Lloyd shouted. I quickly recognized the spatial coordinates and looked around. There was not one orc. The entire field of vision revealed by the orb created by Lloyd was filled with orcs.
We started killing the incoming orcs, starting with an arrow hitting the head of the orc running in front of us. Thanks to Estelle, who used the power of destruction and lightly swung a dagger to cut the orc’s sturdy, muscle-covered body in half, we were able to quickly kill the orc, but the problem came next.
“Oh, the orcs rise again… !”
Something like a black energy appeared from the floor and resurrected the orc, who had been shattered by the power of destruction, back to normal.
“Kaaah――!!!”
The resurrected orcs let out gloomy screams that tormented my eardrums.
“Everyone stay still!”
Estelle shouted and threw the dagger forward. As she was thinking, she must have thrown the dagger by mistake as it passed through the orcs. Estelle’s new model next to me flickered.
Before I knew it, Estelle was holding the dagger that had been thrown away. As if a flash of light swept past, the bodies and heads of all the orcs in Estelle’s path were separated.
“This is it… .”
“caution!”
He created a dimensional exit behind Estelle’s back and exploded the head of the resurrected orc.
“Resurrected again? This is crazy… !”
Estelle swung her dagger madly, Lloyd and Ember fired spells and arrows, but the orcs began to revive at an even faster rate. I also continued to move the dimensional exit and stab with my spear, but I felt that we were being pushed back more and more.
Thinking that there must be a way to prevent the orc’s resurrection somewhere, I shouted to Lloyd, who was using magic to push the orc away.
“Mr Lloyd! “Can you light up the entire inside of the stage?”
At my shout, Lloyd pulled away behind me and shouted.
“I will draw a magic trick! “Please hold on just a little longer!”
For Lloyd, who began drawing magic on the floor with the light flowing from the tip of his staff, he even used his intangible breath to kill the orcs who were trying to get up.
“Do it quickly! “Because I can’t stand it anymore!”
Estel, whose entire body was stained with orc blood, shouted angrily. Because it was an old dungeon, there was a risk that the dungeon itself would collapse if Estelle’s most destructive technique, Space Cutting, was used incorrectly.
Although Estelle is currently wielding a dagger, if Ember is attacked, Estelle will give up the dungeon and use space cutting.
“Mr Lloyd! Just a little faster!”
At my urging, Lloyd gritted his teeth and moved his wand vigorously.
“It’s done. When everyone gives the signal, close your eyes! as soon as… now!!!”
A tremendous amount of light swept across the stage, as if a flashbang had exploded. When the light diminished somewhat, I opened my eyes and looked ahead.
I saw orcs who had stopped and covered their eyes due to the sudden light, and murals with something written in an ancient language.
Beyond the orcs, I was able to find the ‘Spear of Shadow’, which was pouring out black energy on the floor and absorbing the light created by Lloyd.

“Estelle! “Please block the front!”
At my shout, Estelle came in front of me like a flash and swung her dagger. While Estelle took cover, I recognized the spatial coordinates in front of the window of shadow and created an exit to the dimension.
“Gotcha!”
I put my hand into the entrance to the dimension and took out the Spear of Shadow. At the same time, the black energy stopped and the resurrected orcs lost their strength and fell back into corpses.
“It’s over… ?”
Estelle, who was exhausted, asked in a sighing voice. I nodded with a smile and raised the Spear of Shadow.
“It’s okay now—.”
At that moment, someone’s voice rang in my head.
“Haha, you idiot! “You got caught!”
Exciting!
The spear of shadow held in my hand melts like liquid. The melted substance was absorbed through the skin and covered the blood vessels of the entire body.
My heart was pounding and I was coughing up blood as the pain was so intense that it felt like countless thorns were sweeping through my blood vessels.
“Kaaa… !!!”
“Now this body belongs to me, Uricus! 」
