The Magician’s Memorial - Chapter 52
Only Krnovel
Episode 52
I ran without stopping.
I ran for about 10 minutes, and strangely enough, my breathing was stable. My thighs were just a little sore.
After running for a few more minutes, the nerve-racking feeling disappeared.
It’s safe now.
I leaned against a large tree.
I feel it.
There are goblins everywhere.
The good news is that they didn’t notice.
I felt a strange pleasure. I knew it, but they didn’t. I felt like a hunter.
After catching my breath, I climbed up the tree.
The situation has been assessed.
Like it or not, we have to catch the goblins. The goal was to pick out the weak ones, beat them up, and go to the dormitory.
Quilbian thought of the black air flowing out of the dead goblin’s body, the Nak.
Although it was disgusting, the goblin’s nak had a positive effect on the body. The fact that Winte threw him in the middle of the forest and ordered him to catch the goblin must have had something to do with the nak.
A ridiculous laugh came out.
Winte. What on earth does he want?
He often made me do strange things under the pretense of a ‘promise’, but who did he promise to?
By inference, it seemed to be related to the ‘owner of the falcon’ whose name I don’t even know.
Is Winte helping me because of some promise he made to the owner of the hawk?
I scratched my head and gave up on the thought.
Since I didn’t know anything, I was just standing still.
Let’s just focus on surviving for now.
I climbed down the tree and went where my intuition told me to go. I could feel the goblin spirits everywhere.
Some will be easy prey like snails, while others will be monsters that you won’t even be able to pick up if you come across them.
Avoid the dangerous ones and beat up the weak ones.
It was a simple strategy.
Quillbian lowered his posture. There were weeds walking beyond the bushes.
The fine roots had split into two to form a thick root, and the roots were moving while crossing each other.
The long white leaves stretching upward trembled occasionally, and every time they trembled, insects flew in.
The white leaves wrapped around the insects. The insects melted and disappeared in an instant.
Is it okay if I just watch out for those leaves?
The length is about 60cm.
You can kill it easily by quickly approaching it, kicking it with your foot, and then stomping on it.
Goblins below the size of a yellow horse seemed to have intelligence inferior to that of a trained dog. As long as you don’t let your guard down, you won’t get hurt.
He approached from behind, holding the stone that had become his special weapon. Even though the distance was close, the goblin only moved forward.
Do they have no sense organs?
I thought it was going well and got within 3m.
The white leaves trembled. It was a different vibration than when they were luring away bugs.
The once quiet instincts spurred my mind. I had to run away.
The response was quick. I gritted my teeth and leaped backward. The white leaves that had been trembling began to elongate.
Shashasha!
It swept the surroundings like a whip.
Quillvien crawled on the ground in shock. Leaves passed overhead with a loud noise.
After the commotion died down.
Boom, boom!
The trees within a 4m radius around the grasshopper were cut down and fell down.
Quilbian thought back to the dagger he had found in Altera’s room. It was a very similar attack style. The difference was that the mad plant swept across the entire area.
If I had been even a little late, my body would have been torn to pieces, like a pig that had just been bled to death.
The goblin moved again.
The straight white leaves trembled. Once again, an insect flew in and the creature continued eating.
Quilbian looked closely at the white leaves.
The tremors were different.
When pulling out insects, the center of the white leaf vibrated slightly, and when attacking, the entire leaf shook mercilessly.
I wiped the sweat from the back of my neck.
Should I leave that one alone and find something else?
There was also a clear option of ‘using my sixth sense and returning to the dormitory without encountering the goblin.’
But what next?
Judging by the mood, it looks like Winte will be dragged into the forest again.
If you ask for an explanation, they’ll just snort.
Above all, I needed Nak to fix my eyes.
At that moment of hesitation, Quilbian turned his gaze. There was another goblin in the direction of the white grass.
It was a mole jumping on one leg.
Just then, a small bug flew past Quilbian’s eyes. The bug flew forward and approached the swaying white grass.
The moment the white grass began to fall and cover the bug, the mole monster jumped in.
Quillvien bowed his head.
Because the mess is about to begin.
But contrary to expectations, the white grass did not attack right away. After about three seconds of hesitation, it swung its leaves without mercy when the mole goblin came right up to its nose.
Clang!
The area around the white leaf was once again in shambles. The mole goblin that had rushed at me was torn to pieces and fell to the ground with a thud.
I stepped forward, stepping on moles that had turned into chunks of white grass.
Quilbian cautiously approached the mole corpse. He expected the Nak to flow out and seep into his body, but nothing happened.
Quillvian watched as the goblin’s corpse melted and was absorbed into the ground.
“It’s tricky.”
It seemed like it would be useless if someone else caught him.
I continued to follow the white grass.
As a result of continued observation, a plausible plan was developed.
If I fail, I’ll end up like a piece of pork.
Just in case, I tried hitting the white grass with a rock, but it didn’t have much effect.
If it’s something that requires direct pricing to be effective, does it mean that the narc in your body, rather than just brute force, is helpful in some way?
Come to think of it, when I killed a goblin in the dormitory, biting it with my teeth and clawing at its flesh with my hands was more helpful than hitting it with a rock.
So in the end, it’s just going to stick and twist?
Time passed. He kept waiting for the perfect opportunity. The guy felt full and didn’t shake the white leaves for a long time.
Even a small bug passing by made me feel indifferent.
Let’s wait until he shows us his opening.
“Wow!”
Quillvien flinched and covered his mouth. He almost screamed.
“Are you surprised?”
It was a blurry Twella.
“You crazy bitch, why don’t you get out of here?”
“I came here because I was shaking with loneliness. Why are you so cruel?”
It was a Twella that was gently scratching my nerves.
Maybe this won’t help.
As I was thinking that and waving my hand, there was a sparkling eye across Twella’s illusion.
It was a target that could not even be caught by the sixth sense.
What? It’s not dangerous?
But the moment their eyes met, Quilbian realized.
That’s dangerous.
I lowered my posture and leaned back.
The unidentified monster, which had its body hidden and only its pupils exposed, stared at Quilbian for a while before disappearing.
Goosebumps came up. That guy was after me. Just as I had been hiding in the gaps in the white grass, that guy was after the back of my head.
But why was my intuition silent?
“ah.”
The white grass also did not sense danger until just before it attacked. It may only react to fatal threats.
The eyes that had disappeared a moment ago were probably just watching, so their intuition was silent.
At that moment of attack, your intuition must have screamed in response to the situation you couldn’t handle.
The back of my neck felt cold.
For a moment I forgot that I was not the only hunter in this forest.
The enemies you must be most wary of are the clever goblins who sneak up on you and wait for your chance.
The sixth sense that aids vision and the sixth sense that warns of danger. Only by using both appropriately can you save your life.
Well, the gut feeling that it’s dangerous happens regardless of your will, so you don’t need to worry too much about it.
Quilbian looked around carefully.
A world perceived through the sixth sense.
It didn’t matter if the dense bushes blocked my view. I could just see what was beyond them.
What we need to find now are the crimson goblins.
The goblin that was aiming for the back of the head seemed to have given up and was no longer visible around.
Is it safe for the time being?
Quilbian focused on the white grass in front of him.
We had to finish the hunt quickly and find a safe place.
And finally, the opportunity came.
The white leaves swayed gently.
It was a vibration that lured food.
I lowered my posture and waited.
An unknown insect with a hard shell climbed onto Quilbian’s shoulder.
I held my breath. The insect climbed up my neck, licked my ear, and sat on my head.
Boohoohoo, I felt an insect flying with its wings spread. Its destination was the white leaf in front of me.
I looked at the insects flying away like small dots. I shifted my weight forward as I watched.
The moment when the swaying white leaves gently embrace the approaching insect.
Pot!
I ran, kicking the ground.
As expected, the attack did not occur immediately. My intuition did not make any fuss.
1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds.
The second hand in my mind, which I had repeated countless times, moved.
4 seconds.
At the same time, my sixth sense was startled and I screamed.
Quilbian saw the white leaves in front of him begin to shatter into tiny pieces. A dizzying vibration began to occur.
If you spread that out, it will become minced meat.
“Eww!”
He let out a scream and struck the root of the white leaf with the stone he had raised.
“Kkaaaaaaah!”
The sound of a little boy crying loudly was heard.
At the same time, white leaves spread out.
Quilbian quickly lowered his body and grabbed the white leaf body with both hands. He pulled the slender body like a scallion root and opened his mouth wide.
Clang!
The slanted white leaves mercilessly scratched the ground and the front.
I dodged the leaves moving at an invisible speed and bit the goblin’s body.
Something like juice poured into my mouth.
The white leaves that had been dancing fiercely drooped at that moment.
Quilbian spat out the filth that had flowed into his mouth. It tasted horrible. It reminded him of black porridge.
After wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, he looked at the goblin’s corpse.
The leaves became wrinkled and shriveled up like a fist.
Black energy flowed out from between the torn torso.
Quilbian looked at the Nak seeping into his body with uneasy eyes.
Despite the unpleasant feeling, my body felt energized.
The world seen through the sixth sense has become brighter and more splendid.
How many more times do I have to do this before it looks like before?
“Do you want to live like that? You’re too obsessed.”
Twella’s illusion reappeared.
“Are you the only one who does this? At least I don’t survive by selling people.”
“We’ll just have to wait and see. Who knows, you might end up like me?”
I looked at Twella, snorting.
Beep, a sweet cry was heard from above my head.
I raised my head and saw a green light. It gradually came closer and soon settled into my arms.
“You look like this.”
As I got closer, the light dispersed and the shape of the falcon became clearly visible.
It had a sharp beak and sharp eyes. It was a terrifying bird of prey that would make you very nervous if you encountered it without knowing anything.
The falcon crawled into my arms and writhed. It closed its eyes and cried, and it was so cute that it made me laugh.
“He looks majestic, but his actions are like those of a calf.”
I patted its head because it was cute.
“… … But why do you seem bigger?”
It had grown so big that it seemed as if there had been a time when it could be held in my arms. I grabbed one of the eagle’s wings and gently pulled it.
Even though I stretched my arms out, my wings didn’t fully spread.
“It’s so heavy.”
Now it was too heavy to carry around.
Is it normal for a hawk to grow this big?
The ones the upper class people carried around seemed to be much smaller and more agile than this one.
A hawk flew up slightly and landed on his shoulder.
My body was swaying.
“Let’s not sit on each other’s shoulders anymore, in good conscience.”
The hawk must have understood what I said, but it didn’t respond.
“Yeah. You saved my life, so I guess I have to endure this much.”
I put strength into my shoulders and walked.
Before we knew it, night was coming.
