The Magician’s Memorial - Chapter 55

Episode 55
“Seal!”
Royle opened his eyes wide at the loud shout. The monster was staring at him intently.
Royle hesitated, not knowing what to say. Should he agree, or should he correct himself and say, “Royle.”
“excuse me…….”
“Don’t be scared. I know you’re Royle. I know that, but I’ll just call you Sheila. Because that’s what I see.”
“yes?”
“Don’t try to understand me. Don’t even wonder what this kid is. I don’t even know what I am. My head is completely messed up.”
It was a monster who smiled and wrinkled his nose.
The monster sat down next to me. He had his legs crossed over my thighs, which was an uncomfortable position to look at.
“Do you want to try it too?”
I followed along because I thought I’d get hit if I didn’t. As soon as I put my left foot on my right thigh, my pelvis started to tingle.
“Oh, that won’t work.”
“That’s right. It didn’t work out well at first. At first, I was like, what is this? But as I kept doing it, it became comfortable. This is called the Hangmajwa, and it’s good for meditation.”
He was a weirdo who kept talking nonsense.
Royle looked at the monster’s expression. He felt like a cramp was going to come out of his feet. He just wanted to stretch out comfortably.
“Why? You don’t want to do it?”
“no!”
“You crazy bastard. You want to do this? It’s so fucking uncomfortable.”
“… … .”
One thing is certain: this guy is absolutely crazy.
“Hey, aren’t you going to eat us?”
“I don’t have a hobby of eating people. I might develop one soon, but don’t worry, I don’t have one yet.”
After finishing speaking, the monster chuckled and said, “This is also a joke,” but Royle’s face only hardened.
This might not be a joke.
“It’s not a goblin.”
“yes?”
“I’m human. I look like this, but I’m human just like you. No, there are goblins that look like people. You know, have you ever seen a goblin that looks like a person?”
“I saw it once.”
“You’re lucky. You’re still alive after meeting something like that.”
“Someone helped me.”
“There are still quite a few people who fall into this forest. This damn town, really. You think so too?”
Royle frowned, keeping an eye on the monster.
“How long have you been here?”
“I think it’s been about three months.”
“Hey, you survived for three months? You’re talented.”
“I spent time with other people. The first day I came into this forest, Aunt Daisy found me.”
“Auntie Daisy?”
I was like, “Oh no. He’s the person who saved me, but he’s not someone I can trust.”
“hey.”
“yes yes?”
“Don’t you dare go around lying. It shows on your face. Are you worried that I, Aunt Daisy or something, will come and eat you all?”
“No! I never thought of that.”
“Why don’t you do it? You should. I can do it.”
Black eyes stared straight at Royle.
Fear set in. The strength in his back gave out and his body swayed. Royle looked at the monster while sobbing.
“No, those people… … No. I mean, really no!”
Tears and snot kept coming out.
The monster said with a loud laugh.
“You cry so much. It’s funny.”
“What, what did you say?”
“I cry a lot. Oh, I was joking. I told you. I don’t have a hobby of eating people.”
The monster’s hand came closer. It touched his face without mercy. Royle frowned and pulled his face back.
“How old are you?”
“Nine years old.”
“What about your younger brother?”
“Six years old.”
“You must have been born in a good family to know your age. I envy you, I envy you.”
The monster approached his younger brother. Royle followed the monster on his knees. He was worried that the monster might do something to his younger brother.
but.
Zen’s reaction was strange. After meeting the goblin for the first time, he was speechless and scared of everything.
“You’re pretty heavy, huh?”
The monster suddenly hugged her and she smiled brightly. She didn’t even look reluctant. It took her more than ten days to become friendly with the people at the shelter.
“Bite hard and squeeze your stomach.”
The monster, holding Royle in his left hand and Zen in his right, stomped his feet.
Royle shut his eyes tightly in a dizzying sense of floating. His body shook violently several times.
I slowly opened my eyes and found myself landing.
Is this really a person?
“Okay, go to hyung.”
The monster threw his younger brother. Royle was startled and caught his younger brother.
“let’s go.”
“Where to?”
“Where? You guys should go back. Or do you want to stay with me? That’s fine with me. I’ll have more friends to chat with.”
I couldn’t bring myself to say “yes.”
I kept my mouth shut and followed the monster.
“The weather is nice. Isn’t it?”
The monster said.
“What’s the weather?”
Then the monster stopped walking and looked at Royle. His sullen expression made me feel a little scared.
“Don’t answer. That’s a crazy person talking to himself. No, Twella. I don’t think this kid knows anything.”
He was a monster who spoke to the air with a low laugh.
“Seal.”
“yes.”
“Here, say hello to Twella.”
The monster pointed to the right. There was nothing but a dried-up tree, not even a single person’s shadow.
After swallowing dry saliva, I said hello.
“hello.”
The monster laughed with his mouth wide open.
“Hey, what do you see?”
“yes?”
“What do you see? Who is here?”
“Oh, no.”
“But why are you greeting me and making such a fuss? You’re a strange guy.”
The monster shook his head, saying he didn’t understand, and then moved forward again.
Royle frowned as he looked at the monster’s back. He’s really crazy. It’ll be dangerous to stay around him for too long.
The younger brother who was holding my hand hurried his steps. Judging from his expression, it seemed like he wanted to approach the monster.
“Jeez, that guy is dangerous. You never know when or how he might change.”
Jen shook her head vigorously.
“No?”
It was my brother’s reaction that I couldn’t understand.
“Don’t be stupid and follow me!”
The monster screamed.
Royle hurriedly followed behind.
We stepped over roots poking out of the ground, pushed through bushes, and crossed a muddy floor infested with bugs.
Where is this place?
The sun was setting. His legs were aching. Royle checked on his brother. He was staggering and breathing heavily.
“Excuse me, excuse me!”
He called out to the monster who was still striding ahead.
“why?”
“Can’t we just rest for a bit? My little brother is very tired.”
The monster approached and stared at Zen.
“I didn’t think of that. I’m sorry.”
The word “apology” came out suddenly. The monster lifted Zen up and placed him on his shoulder.
“Would you like to listen too?”
“No, I’m fine.”
“You little brat. You’re called a big brother.”
Although he clearly said it was okay, the monster ignored him and took Royle in as well. Royle, who had become a burden, looked at the trees that were quickly moving away.
It was so unbelievably fast.
Only then did I realize.
The monster slowed down because he was thinking of us. If the monster had been running properly, he would have missed us in the blink of an eye.
“Seal!”
The sound of the wind blowing roughly across my body made it difficult to hear or hear my voice.
So I screamed at the top of my lungs.
“yes!”
“Take good care of your little brother. Don’t abandon him.”
“I won’t throw it away!”
The monster leapt forward with a great leap. His body floated upward, and a tree fell under his feet.
Wow, an exclamation came out naturally.
A light caught my heightened vision. A soft crimson glow illuminated the surroundings. It was a trace of a person.
The monster descended to the ground and raced towards the light. It was a dizzying speed. It was hard to open my eyes.
“ruler.”
The monster threw Royle as if he was being thrown. Zen flew over Royle, who was falling on his butt.
Royle quickly stretched out both hands and caught his younger brother.
“Royal!”
A desperate voice was heard from behind. It was Aunt Daisy. Others gathered, weapons in hand.
Royle approached Daisy with Jen. The tension was instantly relieved.
“You’re alive.”
Daisy said, hugging Royle and Jen.
He came back again. Royle broke away from the warm embrace and pointed behind him.
“That guy… … .”
Disappeared. The monster that had been standing behind me just a moment ago disappeared without a trace.
“uh?”
I was confused. Where did he go?
“If it was a monkey, it would have left as soon as I put you down.”
“A monkey?”
An animal that performs tricks. Clowns often bring it out to perform dangerous tricks, so they know what it looks like.
It was also an animal that Jen liked very much.
“I don’t know what kind of person he is. I don’t even know his name. All I know is that he hates goblins.”
Royle looked up at Daisy, who was stroking his head.
“Are you a good person?”
“You don’t know that either. I’ve definitely helped them a lot. But there have been quite a few who got hurt after getting too close. Sometimes they greet you warmly and approach you, and other times they threaten you by throwing rocks at you from afar. They say you’ll die if you come near them… no, you’ll get in trouble.”
Royle thought back to the behavior of the monster he had seen in the tree. He was a completely incomprehensible person who laughed alone, cried alone, got angry alone, and then stared off into the distance with blank eyes.
“But still, you saved me.”
“Yes, that’s right. But even if you see them next time, don’t get too close. They might suddenly see hallucinations and attack you.”
“……yes.”
Royle looked at his brother. Jen was holding onto his hand tightly and staring blankly in the direction the monster had disappeared into.
“But why a monkey?”
“that…….”
It was when Daisy trailed off.
Asrai squeak squeak, a strange crying sound was heard. Daisy smiled weakly.
“He often cries like that. He looks just like a monkey, so we call him Monkey.”
Daisy turned her gaze toward the sound.
“It seems like it’s been in this forest for a very long time. The other group I met a few days ago said it was there three years ago.”
“Three years?”
It was a dizzying time.
“It might have been much longer than three years. That’s why he went crazy like that.”
Daisy shook her head.
“Let’s not think too deeply about it. We won’t be seeing each other for long anyway. We’ll just run into each other like this once in a while. More importantly, tell me what happened. What happened after you met Big Mouth and broke up?”
I had a lot to say.
Royle headed to the hut with the people.
Once again a strange crying sound was heard from afar.
Royle looked back.
People say it resembles the cry of a monkey, but Royle thought a little differently.
It sounded more like a pig’s cry than a monkey’s.
“Royal?”
At Daisy’s call, Royle answered “yes” and started walking.

“Wouldn’t it be nice to live with people?”
Twella said.
Quillvian laughed.
“Is it possible to have a seizure while sleeping and kill someone?”
“It’s pretty stable now.”
“It’s not stable, it’s chronic. It’s always crazy, and then it comes to its senses occasionally. And when it comes to its senses, it’s so fucked up that I want to smash everything.”
On the way home.
Quilbian thought of his brother holding his hand tightly.
“Twella.”
“why?”
“Not all people are bad, right?”
“Well then. There are so many pure people.”
“That’s right.”
As soon as he answered, Quilbian slashed his hand at Twella’s illusion. The Nak that moved along the passages in his body radiated from his fingertips.
Mana reacted to the scattered Nak.
A blue flash split the illusion.
Twella, who was split in half, smiled brightly and said.
“good night.”
Quilbian also smiled and responded.
“Oh, you too.”
