The Magician’s Memorial - Chapter 76

Cheryl laughed, rubbing the back of her neck.
A lump formed where the fork had pierced and torn. The unpleasant lump would remain until the healing was fully complete.
“Are you okay?”
A man in full dress was on one knee, looking at Cheryl.
“Yes, it’s okay. I believed that the Superintendent would take care of it.”
“You’ve already seen it all.”
“That’s right.”
“Then, I dare ask. Why did you bring that man here?”
Cheryl smiled faintly.
“I’m sorry. I can’t tell you that yet.”
“Alas, if that is what God has said, then I, a lowly servant, will only accept it.”
It was a superintendent who nodded his head.
“Where is that man now?”
“It’s on the second floor. As you said, I didn’t do anything to harm him. I did tie his hands and feet, though.”
“Good job.”
Cheryl was guided up to the second floor. The guard guarding the room at the end of the hallway stepped aside.
As I entered, I saw a man tied up in a chair. His eyes and mouth were covered, but I could clearly see the fear he must be feeling.
“Could you please close the door? I need to be alone with you.”
“Understood. We will remain in place until further instructions are given.”
As the superintendent nodded, the guards guarding the room also went out.
They were cute, obedient people. Authors who would jump off buildings without hesitation if you mentioned the name of God. They were pitiful and sad, and that made them even more fun.
He approached the man and took off his blindfold.
When our eyes met, the man nodded his head repeatedly and made a humming sound.
“fizzle.”
Cheryl gently pulled down the cloth covering the man’s mouth.
“What is your name?”
“Qui, it’s Quilbian.”
“How old are you?”
“Yes, I am nineteen.”
“Yes, Quillvian. Do you remember how you got here?”
Quillvien shook his head violently from side to side.
“I swear to God, I will tell you this without a single lie. I really don’t remember.”
“Yes, yes. Don’t get excited. I’m not trying to do anything to you.”
As he smiled faintly, Quilbian’s stiff face gradually relaxed.
“How much do you remember?”
“Hold on to the Prophet and he, he… … .”
“Do you remember poking it here with a fork? And drawing it?”
Cheryl lifted her head to show the wound. Quillvien shook his head in horror.
“All I remember is that I was holding a bloody fork. I don’t know how I met the Prophet, why I came here, or what I did to deserve such a heinous act… .”
“That’s strange.”
“yes?”
“The smell remains. This Nak, it’s definitely connected. But you’re not that kid. Same, but different. Is this how you move around?”
Cheryl stood behind Quillian, placing a hand on his trembling shoulder.
“Remember carefully. Do you really not remember anything? You were definitely that kid. That smell still lingers.”
“Yes, Prophet. I truly… … .”
“Don’t panic, think calmly. You have plenty of time. Don’t be nervous, take a deep breath. Hoo, hoo. Yeah, that’s right.”
It was Quilbian who regulated his breathing.
“Let me change the question. You’re saying you don’t remember the past few days, right?”
“yes.”
“What’s the most recent memory you can remember? Other than stabbing me.”
“therefore…….”
Quilbian continued to speak haltingly.
He said that he had made a contract through the guild in the previous city and had taken customers to Bund in his carriage.
“and?”
“I clearly remember up to the crossroads. Then, a pack of wild dogs appeared in the middle of the road and stopped the carriage for a moment. After that, I don’t remember anything. When I opened my eyes, the prophet was next to me… … .”
Quilbian was trembling as if the excited blood had risen to his head.
Cheryl grabbed Quillian’s head and gently turned it to the left, bringing her face close enough to feel his breath.
“Where the hell are you?”
“Yes, yes?”
“This is difficult. There are many things I need to find out through you. If I make everything about you mine, so many things will change.”
It was a fate disguised as a coincidence.
It was all meant to happen that the little human named Twella was there, that she sent me a signal to stay by my side, and that Winte showed up and unleashed her great power.
Those things happened for one single result.
“To save you, he gave up his own potential. It was a truly incredible clash of power, an explosion. My very existence almost disappeared. But I persevered, and I am now reunited with you. This is truly… … destiny.”
Cheryl placed her palm on Quillian’s left chest.
“Prophet?”
“The power of the Great Being, the salt of Twella, and the life of my own body were intertwined there. The remnants of the power must have been in you. That would have been a disaster for weak beings like you. A hundred out of a hundred, a thousand out of a thousand should have died. But you survived and have become a different kind of person.”
I put my finger up and slowly pushed it in.
The flesh was pierced and the fingers dug in.
“Ah, ah, ah… … .”
“fizzle.”
Cheryl lightly touched Quilbian’s lips. Their lips melted and stuck together. It was cute to see her continue to scream with her mouth still closed.
“It’ll be over soon. You’re just a shell left here anyway. No, not a shell. You have your own life. But you’re useless to me right now, aren’t you?”
He grabbed my heart and pulled it out.
When he poked the split rib, the bone gave way and the blood that had splattered out gathered in front of Quilbian.
Cheryl examined the heart, which had suddenly stopped beating.
Traces of the Nak are visible.
It transcends all laws of this world and is connected to reality.
“No. Both here and there are realities.”
Cheryl devoured the delicious heart in one bite, her pure white robes stained with red drops of blood.
I feel it.
Where Nak is headed.
However, because the power was so weak, it was difficult to pinpoint the location.
Cheryl walked to the window. When she opened it, a refreshing breeze blew in.
“It’s a pretty place.”
A world outside of God’s providence.
What on earth is this place?
Although she felt a brief moment of greed, Cheryl calmed down.
The sense of purpose must not be dispersed.
After you have done one perfectly, you should plan the next.
Cheryl put her hand on the window and took a deep breath of air.
“If you come again next time, I’ll bring you everything.”
After smiling happily at the people passing by, he placed both hands on his head.
And then I turned it to the right with all my might.
Knock knock.
My vision turned halfway around as I looked out the window, then back into the room. My body fell outside as I took in the sight of the dead Quilbian.
ah!
This is what it means to die.
A deep darkness, like rest, came and gradually receded.
Cheryl opened her eyes and smiled.
“Still, I like it here.”
Inside the black gochi.
I licked my lips as I observed the spirit and body that had not yet been reborn.
The sweet taste of Nak left by Quilbian lingered in my mouth.
I want to meet you soon.
If we take everything from that kid, we might be able to reach Winte.
“Hehehe.”
Cheryl laughed happily, spinning around in her black goch.
*
Quilbian folded his ring and little fingers and made a seal. The tree that had been rooted in the ground began to tremble and then began to move, uprooting itself.
Boom, boom, boom!
I watched a dozen or so trees move using their roots as bridges, and then I untied the knot.
As the will was withdrawn, the flow of Nak was also cut off, and mana also fell asleep.
The trees swayed and then fell over with a loud noise.
“I think I’ve become familiar with ‘Trees Run’ too.”
The fox that had been wrapped around Puni’s index finger raised its head.
– What is this used for?
“If you learn it, it will be helpful for anything.”
The law of magic, the tree runs.
Quilbian couldn’t figure out why the magic spell had such a name. Was it the goblin’s hobby that created it, or did it have some other meaning?
Quillvian made another attempt to move the tree.
This time, I moved Nak without being conscious of the magical name, ‘The Tree Runs’.
The giant trees did move, but at a speed so slow that they could race a snail.
This damn spell has annoying restrictions that make it’s effectiveness increase when you accurately recognize the spell name and even spit it out.
This was also said to be the producer’s fault.
Quilbian raised his head.
I saw Winte swimming in the sky above.
“Winte!”
Even though I called out loud, he didn’t even look at me. I had no choice but to kick the ground.
The body rose vertically. It immersed itself in a puddle of water created in the air. Winte called this puddle a swimming pool, not a bathhouse.
“I’m talking about magic. Can’t I change this on my own? It’s ridiculous that I have to keep thinking of the name.”
“The magic is the language of the goblins. It’s how they communicate with the world. If we fully understand the ideas and structure of the goblins who created the magic, we can modify it, but we can’t do it yet.”
“Isn’t it true that things I learned in the past can be easily fixed by changing the seal at will?”
“Because they led you to use it that way. You should be grateful to the kind goblin.”
It’s a power system, and they say you can use it if you learn it, but when you actually look into it, it’s incredibly difficult.
Quilbian looked down at the ground and asked.
“Winte, can you change that spell?”
“Unfortunately, I can’t touch that either.”
“It’s not a magic spell that destroys the world, it’s just a magic spell that makes trees jump. Can’t you change it?”
“Feel the salt contained in the magic. You are just trying to understand and use it, but where did you throw away your empathy?”
“Please give me some sympathy.”
Winte closed his eyes as if he had nothing more to say.
Quilbian came down to the ground and used magic again. Just before forming the seal and recalling the magic knot and materializing it, he felt the salt contained in the magic as Winte had said.
But what do you want me to feel?
It was a moment of deep thought.
Someone whispered. Quillvian focused on the voice. It was babbling, like human speech, but it was not recognized properly.
There was no need to rush.
Because time was a resource that was in abundance.
I sat and listened.
He maintained the phenomenon induction without releasing the Nak. The power of his will continued to circulate within his body.
The voice became clearer and clearer.
Then at one point the voice became so loud that my eardrums burst.
All you trees, run with me!
A loud voice repeated the same sentence.
Let’s run, let’s run, let’s run.
My body was shaking so much that I couldn’t control it.
I wanted to run to the ends of the earth.
Nakdo reacted with passion and went wild.
The nack had gathered in the hand that had made the seal. It was difficult to hold on to it any longer.
The condensed Nak was released at once.
A magic spell that spreads out in all directions.
Doo doo doo doo doo doo.
The surrounding area shook.
Thousands of trees were uprooted and began to jump, shaking their branches toward the sky.
Quilbian went between the trees and ran with them.
A few days, maybe a few months.
It was only after I had fallen over that I realized what I had done.
Quilbian came to his senses and looked around.
The trees that made up the dense forest had all been uprooted and were lying on their sides.
The leaf-covered eaves that blocked the sky have disappeared.
A clear blue sky.
Quillvien stood up, dusting himself off his knees.
There was a sphere in his hand.
I could tell at a glance that this was the essence of ‘The Tree Runs’.
“It’s like this.”
Quillvian swallowed the sphere with a hollow laugh.
I just waved my finger without making a knot. All the trees that had been lying down stood up.
By putting its roots into the ground, it regained its original form.
The green forest has been recreated.
I heard applause from above.
When I looked up, Winte was smiling and giving me a thumbs up.
