The Magician’s Memorial - Chapter 94

Episode 94
“The food is here.”
There was a lot of food laid out in front of the veil.
“Are you going to eat all that?”
“Yes, you have to eat everything.”
“I guess you like eating.”
“The original owner of this body likes it.”
Veiled was chewing on a large piece of meat in his mouth. He smiled as if it suited his taste.
Cheryl and this guy were indistinguishable from humans if you just looked at them.
“Even if I was originally human, why did you open your eyes in this world with human bodies?”
I asked about something that had been bothering me for a while.
Not only Cheryl, but also Veild opened his eyes inside the ‘human with the same name’.
“I’m curious about that too. So I came up with a few hypotheses.”
“Hypothesis?”
“Tell me about the other world Quill experienced before. Oh, you called it the Gap?”
“Winte and I call each other gaps. But is my title fixed as Quill?”
“Yes. That’s comfortable and nice.”
“If it makes you comfortable.”
I shrugged and transferred the stir-fried vegetables to a bowl. They were half melted, so I couldn’t tell what kind of vegetables they were.
The taste was pretty good.
We talked about things we had seen while eating and passing the time.
A world where pigs work hard in their workshops, a world where picky goats control the banks of the world, a world where humans are not allowed to have gold.
“It’s a similar yet different world.”
“There were places painted with machines I had never seen before. That’s not something I could have imagined.”
“I also became convinced when I came here. This is not a place created by someone’s imagination. It is a real world that exists somewhere.”
“Then why do you exist as a human and not a goblin?”
“I interpreted it arbitrarily as saying that our wishes reach out to humans. In fact, we cannot find out the correct answer.”
That was right.
This was a world that even gods could not understand.
It is not even known whether there is another god who created this place, or whether the absence of god is taken for granted in this world.
There is a divine power and a sect that serves God, but I have never encountered the real thing.
If God exists and governs the world he created, he would not tolerate the interference of foreign substances.
But despite countless gaps, the omnipotent god never appeared to punish us.
“There is probably no omnipotent God here. If there is, it means he doesn’t care about us, so we don’t have to worry about him. It’s better not to think about him anyway.”
Veiled seemed to think the same thing.
“Structurally, Cheryl and I are intertwined, and you share a lot in common with Cheryl. That’s why you can intervene in my gaps like this.”
“I think so. Before Quill showed up, I didn’t even know a place like this existed. I’m sure the Master would be happier than anyone else. He hates boring things.”
“That guy isn’t in his right mind either.”
Veiled smiled slightly.
“This place is like a playground to me. It’s a fun place. It made me realize how beautiful the world is.”
“It would be great to live in this beautiful world with Cheryl. Wouldn’t it?”
“Yes. It’s nice here, but honestly, I’m happy wherever I can be with her. Even if it’s in a pit of fire, I can smile as long as she’s by my side.”
Cheryl won’t laugh though.
Quilbian didn’t want to figure out the feelings of the two goblins who would become lovers in the future.
The important thing is that Veild is longing for Cheryl.
“We have a lot to share.”
“It depends.”
“Why? We’re friends now.”
“He’s a friend. But he seems a little dangerous.”
“Me? To you?”
Quilbian pursed his lips.
“Why is it so dangerous for me to die with a snap of a finger?”
“Quil is special. Cheryl is interested in him because he is special. The same goes for you, Master. And being special brings about unexpected phenomena. Like this gap.”
“This place is like a playground, just like you said. You can have fun, but you don’t get anything out of it. The only thing you can do is share memories.”
Quilbian tried to move Nak. He laughed, showing off his magic that did not lead to any phenomenon induction.
“I can’t even use magic here.”
“I will write it soon.”
“You seem to know me better than I know myself.”
“Because you can see it. The seeds inside the quill.”
“That damn seed. What the hell is a seed?”
“It is a gift from God. That is why we do not have it. However… … Quill’s seed seems to be far removed from God’s intention. Even the Master could not properly confirm this. Even though the Master is proficient in all things, when it comes to Narc, our understanding cannot keep up with it.”
Winte said the same thing. It’s hard to learn magic.
“Will I be able to beat you after some time?”
“I don’t know about that. Just because a quill is special doesn’t mean it’s strong.”
“That’s too bad. I need strength.”
“The power to kill me?”
“You kill them too, and at the same time, get rid of the strange things.”
We had a friendly conversation, laughing with each other. It seems like crazy people have something in common. It was a pretty enjoyable conversation.
The store door opened. A small child ran toward the counter, laughing, and stumbled and fell over.
It was in front of the veil.
The child who had fallen over raised his head and was on the verge of crying with his eyes wide open.
“ruler.”
Veil took out a small wooden horse model. The child looked at the toy with a face that seemed as if he was about to cry.
“I’ll give it to you if you don’t cry.”
The child stood up bravely and took the toy.
It was unexpected. It was a more humane action than a human. The woman next to the counter nodded toward Veild. She seemed to be his mother.
“I guess he likes kids.”
“no.”
“Really? I thought you liked me too.”
“If you cry, it’s noisy. Then I have to kill you, but I don’t think Quill will like it, so I did the second best solution. We’re friends.”
My appetite has completely disappeared.
No matter what, he was still a goblin. If his relationship with Cheryl went wrong, he would say he was dumped and turn the entire city into a wasteland.
“I support your love. I will definitely make it happen.”
“She’s so dependable. As long as I have Cheryl, I don’t need anything else.”
Veiled pushed the plates of food to the edge of the table.
“Could you put it in the middle?”
Quilbian placed his plate in the center of the table.
“I said earlier that I had thought of a hypothesis.”
“That’s right.”
Veiled placed the leftover bread on the front plate. A bread about a hand’s length.
“This is the world.”
“This bread?”
“Yes. And.”
Veiled’s fingers moved. Each time his index finger moved, the bread was sliced thinly.
Quillbian lifted a slice of bread, so thin that he could see through it the Veild sitting across from him.
“Is this a gap?”
“Yes. Given that they share similar forms, there is a possibility that our real world is the mother of all things. Of course, the opposite could also be true.”
“So who made this bread?”
“The god outside. That’s what I think.”
“An outside god?”
Veild’s gaze left the appetizer plate and scanned the table, and then the entire restaurant.
“Even the vast place we call the world may be just a plate on the table. And even some intelligent beings who see the plate and realize the world may look like dust to beings with higher concepts.”
“Just like you and Winte see humans. It’s a plausible story. No, it might be true.”
Veiled picked up a few pieces of bread, dipped them in the melted butter, and brought them to his mouth.
“Of course, this kind of thinking is also a limitation of the intelligent beings trapped in this world. We can only talk about things that we can imagine.”
“You can’t say what you can’t imagine. Winte said something similar.”
“The Master said that the designer was a guest from a far away place.”
Quilbian nodded.
“A god above a god. A god above that god. Man, what are we?”
“It’ll be dust. Me too, and Quill too.”
I didn’t want to go from fatalism to skepticism, because they’re both shit.
Quilbian rinsed his mouth with water and said.
“Dust must live diligently, choosing the way of dust.”
“I think so too.”
“You for Cheryl, I for rest.”
I got up from the chair.
“The conversation is almost over, and if you let me go, I would like to return to reality.”
“Please wait a little longer before returning. Until Cheryl here opens her eyes. The longer she spends in the gap, the more I feel her changing.”
“Is it possible for a good sheep to become docile?”
“… … I don’t know about that.”
“I guess not.”
Where would the tyrant go?
Quilbian winked at Veild.
“I have to calculate it.”
“Quil is a shameless person.”
“I told you I don’t have any money. And this entertainment is like a deposit.”
“Okay. I’ll call it a deposit. Including the clothes.”
Veiled pointed to the clothes.
“You are too picky.”
He shook his head and walked out of the store.
Got involved with two goblins.
Looking at the situation going on, I’ll probably run into the remaining two guys someday.
“Veiled.”
After finishing the calculations, I called the goblin who came out.
“yes.”
“Cheryl, Veil. And Corsa, you said? The one who told you how to keep me.”
“That’s right, Corsa.”
“What’s that Corsa guy’s personality like? Do you think he can communicate with Cheryl like you do?”
“Ah… … that’s.”
Veiled looked up at the sky. His gaze was focused on the distance.
“I have to be careful.”
“Why? Is his personality dirty? Does he try to kill you the moment he meets you?”
“I think I’ve already found the real Quill. And this is… … jealousy. Corsa is jealous of Quill.”
“Jealousy? Why? Why would someone I’ve never met be jealous of me?”
Veiled smiled.
“Corsa loves Winte. She wants to have it. She wants to eat it more than anyone else. And since Winte cherishes Quill, she must want to kill him.”
“What the hell.”
Quillian scratched his head nervously. How is it that there aren’t any normal people? Can’t they have polite conversations like gentlemen?
“Wait a minute. You saw my body?”
“yes.”
“So you came specifically to where I am? Cheryl said it was hard to find.”
“The core of the barrier was made by Corsa. If you set your mind to it, you can find it. And it’s easy to open.”
“Don’t you guys share things?”
“yes.”
Veiled said, looking down at his hands.
“But I don’t share everything. If I try to hide it, I might not get caught. That’s what I do.”
It was Veiled with a deep smile.
“But Corsa doesn’t seem to like Quill very much. He’s telling us exactly where the barrier is. I guess he’s telling us to go and eat Quill.”
The situation we were afraid of has occurred.
Quilbian said, feeling his mouth turn sour.
“Are you coming?”
“No. At least Cheryl and I aren’t going.”
“It looks like Corsa will keep attacking, and who’s the remaining one?”
“I don’t know about him either. The emotions I sometimes get from him seem pretty happy.”
“Are you happy? Then that’s good. You won’t care about the likes of me.”
“I don’t know about that.”
It was a dirty and disturbing thing to say.
