The Magician’s Memorial - Chapter 99

Episode 99
Quilbian kicked the air.
The scattered Nak became a stepping stone.
The body that had been moving steadily through the air settled on the ground.
“Kaaaak!”
The ‘body’ that had been crawling on the tree glared with an angry voice.
“Look at me for a moment… … .”
The body ran away without looking back. It seemed as if it would kill anyone it encountered, but when it actually encountered them, it ran away.
I made a vow while looking at the body moving away. The Nak that was in my body stretched out like a string and clung to the tree.
The trees rose up at the same time, uprooting themselves. The branches stretched out towards the body that was running up the tree.
“Kakak, kaaaak!”
The body resisted by swinging the tentacles sprouting from its head like a whip, but was quickly subdued and fell to the ground.
The body twitched between the nets made of branches.
Quilbian checked the body’s hands.
There was no black ring.
He shifted his gaze to look at his hand. The black ring on his index finger.
The salt flowing from the ring was reacting to the Nak.
I took the ring off and put it back on the main unit. It still clicked, but there was no change.
“It’s no use.”
Quilbian spoke to Winte, who was watching from the sky.
“I don’t think there’s any other way than consulting with the Barara tribe or whatever.”
Quillvian unleashed his magic. The trees took root in the ground, and the tangled branches returned to their proper places.
As soon as the restraints were released, the body ran towards the darkness. It turned around and let out a sharp warning sound along the way, which was just funny.
I’m in a situation where I’m being watched and tried to kill myself.
Quillvin moved his fingers slowly.
“What will happen to my ego if the mental body loses its substance?”
“You’ll drift somewhere, or open your eyes in a gap. Or you’ll just disappear.”
“The choices are always extreme. It’s fucking crazy.”
Quilbian followed Winte as he flew east. A small sun created by Winte followed behind, shedding light.
“Will the mental body persist even if it leaves the realm of the two-faced?”
“It’s pretty stable. There aren’t many people out there who can dismantle it, although not as much as I can.”
Winte pointed to Quilbian and called him ‘that’. The spirit body is not a living phenomenon, so calling it that is not wrong. It’s just a little annoying.
“Most humans will think of you as a living being, a physical entity occupying space. But the sensitive ones will recognize your true nature.”
“There wouldn’t be any weirdos who would try to hunt this poor monster, right? Life is already tough out there.”
“There must be someone who wants to catch me and study me. Just like there are people out there who are after me.”
“Winter? You guys are out of your minds. Are you looking for a unique way to commit suicide?”
“You must want to be the main character in a myth.”
Arrived at the eastern sky wall.
It was a place that had been pounding with ‘The Tree Runs’ for several months.
When I arrived, I understood what Winte had said. The barrier had been loosened.
“When I meet Corsa later, I’ll definitely thank him. Thanks to him, the barrier has been weakened.”
“Veil said that Corsa would be able to open the barrier easily, but it seems that it wasn’t that easy.”
“Because it hasn’t been maintained at all. It’s bound to creak. Plus, you knocked on it.”
Quillvian put his hand on the barrier.
I could feel the huge salt contained in the barrier trembling.
My intuition whispered to me to prepare myself.
The Nak that had been forming a barrier turned into a lump and then created thousands of black spears.
Even though he was being targeted, his intuition still only made a low voice.
This is worth doing.
Quillvian let the narc slip into his hand. He gripped the rake made of narc tightly.
The salt on the wall roared even more harshly, as if the pitchfork was quite irritating.
“Winte.”
“Don’t ask me for help.”
“There is no need.”
“Then why?”
“After you leave here, you have to come back here again.”
“yes.”
“Should we put up a sign up front? So that it’s easier to find?”
“You’ll find it easily. There are two guides.”
Winte pointed to the rings worn by Rappa and Quilbian hovering in the sky.
“Okay then. I’ll go out now.”
“It’s been a while since I’ve been out.”
“Yes.”
“Good, to get out of this horrible place.”
“Is it because I’ve been here for so long?”
A black spear flew in.
Swish!
I dodged the spears that were pouring down like rain. I turned my head slightly to deflect three spears, and I moved my body back to dodge ten spears.
Although it contained enough power and salt to pierce through the psyche if stabbed, Quilbian wasn’t worried at all.
It doesn’t reach.
The time spent in the gap and the senses gained from interacting with monsters changed many things for Quilbian.
The spear that was slamming down with the momentum of covering the ground stopped at some point.
Quillvien’s pitchfork was touching the barrier.
“This feels like home now. Bloody home.”
“Bring me a gift when you come.”
“If you remember.”
I pulled the rake with all my might.
Woohoo!
The barrier let out a loud cry. They held each other with their gnats and salt to keep them from breaking, but they could not stop the rake’s advance.
Finally, the barrier was broken.
Quillvian sensed a great distortion in some system of salt and narco that covered the sky.
The distortion won’t last forever.
It will be restored soon and fill in the faint gap.
“Rappa!”
Quilbian called out to his best friend and jumped into the rift between worlds.
A gloomy saltiness passed over my entire body. All the emotions contained in the salt surged in and then disappeared in an instant.
If he were a normal person, he would have lost his mind from the repeated reversals of Nak, Yeom, and emotions, and would soon be driven mad.
But Quilbian was rather comfortable.
Because I’ve always been with madness.
I set foot on dry land.
The air that penetrated his nose was different. Quilbian looked back.
There was a lake. There were no thousands of black spears digging into the ground, nor was there a leisurely smiling Winte.
Beep beep.
I looked around while listening to Rappa’s long cry.
It didn’t match the view from inside the sky wall. It felt like I had moved through space in an instant.
Quilbian felt the faint connection between the ring and the salt.
“It’s so damn far away.”
Front and back area.
It was a strange space.
It wasn’t a big deal since there was no going back for the time being.
The raptor that was hovering in the sky has disappeared. It seems that it is trying to explore a different sky.
I left him to enjoy the new world and walked for a while.
It was the escape I had longed for, but it didn’t give me much excitement. Was it because I had experienced various worlds through the gap, or was it because I was reminded of Twella, who was still enduring loneliness?
There was plenty of time, but no need to take it easy.
I gradually increased my speed. My physical abilities were similar to the main body. I felt a little lacking, but it wasn’t uncomfortable.
With each step, dozens of trees passed by beneath my feet.
Small birds flew up beside Quilbian in a startled manner, then slammed into the ground and leaped back up, sending a herd of deer screaming and scattering in all directions.
I went forward, cutting through the forest.
Quilbian slowly began to adapt to the clock that his intuition had brought him.
Unlike the realm of the surface and back, the outside was filled with mana. The enormous power that rose up through the ground was spreading out into the atmosphere, and it was an overwhelming sight just to look at.
Within the realm of the surface and back, surplus Naks were often seen, and they would sometimes gather together to create goblins. However, outside, no remnants of Naks were visible, perhaps because of the mana.
It’s definitely different from the goblin world.
Quilbian closed the world of colors brought by his sixth sense and opened his physical eyes.
Over there, I spotted a group of people moving.
After settling on the ground, I dusted myself off and realized one thing.
“It looks like this… … .”
She was wearing a pair of rags that were so revealing that it was embarrassing to even call them clothes.
I should have asked Winte for a set before I left.
He approached people with an embarrassed face.
I had no intention of being welcomed. Who would welcome a strange man who suddenly appeared in the forest, and who was suspicious and not even properly dressed?
still.
“Can we get off the plane and talk? We haven’t even said hello yet.”
Quilbian looked at the tip of the spear and said. The three lightly armed men glared at Quilbian with stern faces.
Behind them were seen women, old people, children, horses, cows, and carriages.
Are you moving?
“go away.”
The man in the lead said.
“I understand that you’re surprised to see me like this, but let me talk… … .”
“If you don’t want to die, shut up and get out.”
The man who had been speaking in a low voice looked to the side with a start. A small bear emerged from the bushes and, upon seeing the people gathered, returned to the forest in surprise.
When they confirmed that it was a bear cub, the faces of the people gathered brightened a little.
“Don’t waste time and just go.”
A voice came from behind three men holding long spears. It was an old man with bulging eyes.
The men rolled their eyes and joined the crowd, and soon the carriage began to move.
Quillvian rolled his eyes and followed them.
Soon after, an armed man broke away from the group ahead and approached Quilbian.
“Take it and get out. Don’t follow me.”
It was just some food and clothes.
“What the heck. But better than this… … .”
He was a man who turned around before I could even speak.
It’s also urgent.
They changed their clothes on the street. When I looked behind them, it seemed like they were being chased by something.
It’s like the way they keep glancing at the path they’ve taken, and the way the anxiety settles on people’s faces.
Refuge or illegal immigration?
There’s no need to follow people who are already anxious. Quilbian turned around.
The clothes fit the body so well that it seemed like they were made to measure.
Now that the exterior looks clean, it will be easier to enter towns and cities.
First, go to a place with a lot of people and talk about the Barara tribe… … .
A sound was heard, breaking my thoughts.
Although it was still a long way off, Quilbian’s ears were able to accurately determine what the sound was.
That’s right.
A well-trained horse.
That’s five pens.
Soon after, horsemen appeared. Judging from the elaborate helmets they were wearing, they seemed to be regular soldiers or knights.
Quillvin scratched his head.
My knowledge was mixed. My ego didn’t collapse because of what I experienced in the gap, but there were times when I was confused because of the knowledge that kept increasing.
Are you a mercenary or a knight?
No, a union?
As I was staring blankly at those approaching, the one in the lead grabbed the reins and stopped in front of Quilbian.
“You over there.”
It was a high-handed tone. Quilbian answered, “Yes.”
“Tell me where you are from.”
“Where are you from? The place I lived was a moderately sized place called Lucinda… .”
Before he could finish speaking, the man drew his sword. The white feather on his helmet fluttered.
“Place of origin.”
“So, it’s called Rookin… … .”
The sword is coming.
Quilbian stared blankly at the slowly approaching sword, then stepped aside. The sword cut through the air.
“Don’t move.”
Quillvian said, looking at the blade.
“I’ve been living alone for so long that I don’t know how the laws outside have changed. So if I made a mistake… … .”
“Shut your mouth.”
aha.
Quilbian caught the sword that was slowly being drawn horizontally in his hand.
“No matter how much the world has changed, it’s certain.”
