The Necromancer Commands Slaves, Not Undeads - Chapter 40
40 – The princess’s secret (3)
The man named Oscar who approached me silently and pointed a sword at me was wearing pure white armor. A pure white helmet covered his face, and he appeared to be about 190 cm tall.
The great sword he was carrying on his back boasted an overwhelming size. It was as large as the war ax used by the orc leader Znul. Although it could not be called a sword, it had a wide blade and many flat parts, so it resembled a blunt weapon.
He was looking at Dorothy in silence. His expression was not revealed because it was covered by his helmet.
He was so tall and wearing armor on his body. How could he infiltrate this place without a sound and point a sword at me? Even thinking about it now, it was truly amazing.
Oscar was looking at Dorothy, and a wizard named Maria, standing opposite, was looking at me.
Pink hair and red eyes. So far, the wizard has only seen one old woman, so my image of the wizard was that of an old man wearing dark robes.
However, Maria had an unconventional appearance that was enough to break the prejudice I had imagined about the wizard.
She seemed to like dressing up, as she was wearing a bold purple leotard that exposed her shoulders. Underneath her leotard, she wore a short, black skirt.
She was looking at me with an expression of disapproval.
“Princess. There’s no way kids like that can beat me.”
I was shocked to see him talking to the princess so confidently.
He doesn’t seem to be any different from Dorothy and I, but who is calling someone a brat?
“Good. If I prove my abilities here, can I assume that the princess will tell me the whole truth?”
Princess Amelia smiled at my story. I breathed a sigh of relief. Only then did Dorothy return the rapier to its sheath.
“The mock battle will be held around evening. Until then, I will give you a room, so please rest.”
The princess calls the servants of her mansion. The servants led Dorothy and me to her guest room.
Before we left, Dorothy and I greeted the princess once again with all our courtesy.
“Thank you for the grace of Her Majesty the Princess.”
“Thank you.”
Just like that, we were able to catch our breath by throwing ourselves onto the soft bed sheets. I felt like all the strength was leaving my body.
“Whew… I was careful to utter a single word. When the blade entered my neck, I thought I had stepped on a land mine, but it seems I somehow managed to get over it.”
“Yes. As expected, the master is amazing.”
“I didn’t do much. Rather, Dorothy did everything. How could I have thought of holding a knife to the princess’s throat in that situation… If it were me, I would have just ignored her.”
Dorothy seemed to have a bully who could do things that normal people couldn’t do. The princess seemed to really like that aspect of Dorothy.
Dorothy smiled brightly at the story.
“I will protect you from now on, master.”
“That’s very reassuring.”
“I’ll also beat up the guy who pointed a knife at my master earlier and the woman who spoke arrogantly.”
“There is no need for that…”
It was Dorothy who naturally let out more and more bloody sounds. I smiled bitterly and stroked her head.
“Sir, I have one question.”
“Yes.”
“What were you going to do if this went wrong?”
“In what way?”
“The princess is trying to kill us, or something like that?”
I had an answer in mind for Dorothy’s question in advance.
“Well, I didn’t think there was that possibility when the Golden Lion was alive.”
“Why?”
“It seemed like the princess was never one to leave her weaknesses for no reason.”
“Hmm…”
“If she had truly tried to hide her own secret, she would have said that the Golden Lion was dead, or that the sun would have come to us at the point she met him, but it didn’t.”
She said that everyone in the capital gathered together and said that she was very intelligent. If she was truly trying to hide her secret, she would have no reason to delve into this case from us.

Dorothy looked at me with a puzzled expression, as if she still didn’t understand. I answered her question with a smile.
“The princess is a meticulous person. The more I heard about her intelligence, the more she wondered if the golden lion was still alive. At that time, I was convinced that the princess was after something from her.”
“I see.”
“That’s right. The conversation itself had a strong feeling that it was testing me…”
Dorothy said no more, but buried her face in her pillow and gently closed her eyes. I yawned while lying down next to her.
Yesterday, I stayed up late gathering information about the princess.
Today I woke up early and moved around to meet the princess, and it was definitely not because I had poor physical strength from her.
Dorothy seemed to be just as tired, as she buried her face in her pillow and froze like ice.
As soon as I relaxed, I closed my eyes, feeling drowsy. I need to sleep a little and wake up… The moment I thought that and closed my eyes to make up for the lack of sleep, someone unceremoniously opened the door to the guest room.
“Who is the robber who dared point a sword at Her Majesty the Princess!!”
Just as I was about to fall into a sweet sleep, an angry voice rang loudly throughout the guest room. I squinted and identified the owner of the voice.
The owner of the voice was none other than Maria, who the princess introduced as a wizard.
She looked very angry and looked at me and Dorothy who were lying on the bed, huffing and puffing.
“It’s me…”
Dorothy lifted her body halfway out of bed and yawned lazily. It was a contrast to Maria, who was raising her voice with excitement.
“Ha, you don’t seem to know what you’ve done… I put my hand on the royal body of Her Royal Highness Princess Amelia von Russell-Wittenberg, the star and guardian of the empire, who will one day rise to the throne and rule the world as a great empress. “I meant to do it!”
Dorothy seemed to be trying hard to understand the situation with a blank expression.
“So?”
“So? That’s why you said that now!?”
I tried to calm Maria down. It seems that her loyalty to the princess was much higher than that of others.
“Well, calm down first, and Her Majesty the Princess has passed on this matter…”
“The small piece is missing. I’m talking to this woman right now about Her Highness the Princess. Oh, is it possible that I can’t see even in the eyes that aren’t wearing an eyepatch?”
Oh…She was a woman who had a knack for making people angry. I have never seen anyone break into a guest room without knocking and make personal attacks, and the truth is that there is no such thing as this.
I got a little angry. But before I could open my mouth, Dorothy got up from the bed and hurriedly walked over to Maria.
“Dorothy…?”
Maria quipped her jokes toward Dorothy, who approached her with a triumphant look.
“Do you finally have the heart to talk? Go now and kneel before Her Highness…”
Srung, Dorothy’s rapier was pulled out of its sheath and the tip was pointed at Maria’s neck.
“Hee, hee…?”
“I cannot forgive insults to my master. Running your mouth as you please goes as far as that.”
Dorothy whispered a warning to Mary with her cold eyes. Maria shrank back, looking frightened instead of her triumphant appearance earlier.
“Dorothy, stop.”
I stood up and stopped Dorothy. Dorothy then sighed, took away her blade, and warned Mary one last time.
“If there are any more complaints, we can resolve them in a mock battle. Oh, how about the loser becoming a dog? I saw you barked a lot earlier, so I think it would suit you.”
Dorothy lifted her cold gaze and smiled. The way she patted Maria’s shoulder with one hand looked like a bully who was ripping off her elementary school student on the street.
Maria’s face turned as red as blush, as if she was quite embarrassed by the current situation. She moved her lips to say something, but her voice did not come out.
In the end, pitifully, there was only a long silence in her room, and she kicked out the door, her body shaking. To be honest, that kind of thing was tempting. But···
“It was bad.”
“It’s not a big deal, but you’re being mean to the owner and being rude.”
“That’s true, but…”
“Okay… I won’t do that again next time.”
Honestly, holding a knife to her throat was harsh.
When my reaction was not good, Dorothy lowered her head with a sullen expression.
But first, I have to say thank you. I was thankful that Dorothy got angry for me.
“Thank you, Dorothy.”
“Huh…?”
“You got angry for me. I’m very happy about that, but she is Her Majesty’s Highness. If she wasn’t careful, Dorothy could have been in danger. There’s no need for her to get angry for me more than necessary.”
There is an appropriate line in everything. If you cross that line, a person can quickly become dangerous.
In a case like now, if Maria had been a belligerent or temperamental person, she would have gotten into a fight.
If she got into the princess’s ears and questioned her about what was right or wrong, she would have nothing to say since she would have pointed her sword first.
“And since I know how to get angry as much as Dorothy, I was going to scold her… Ahahahaha, then let’s take a break before the mock battle.”
Dorothy broke her sullen expression and nodded her head. After he sent out Jinsang who appeared in the guest room, no one entered the room anymore. Only then were we able to sleep soundly without disturbance.
And finally evening came.
