The Possessor Mistook the Genre for 20 Years - Chapter 111
110 – The Woman Immune to Magic
The magic circle shattered like glass, scattering into the air.
Franz couldn’t help but be flustered. He had thought the opponent was somewhat strong, but he hadn’t expected this kind of ability. It was like thinking a beetle could only crawl, but then it suddenly flew.
But that was only for a moment. Franz quickly regained his composure and began to analyze the situation.
‘It doesn’t seem like he’s interpreting the magic…’
If anti-magic involved interpreting the opponent’s magic and intervening in the process, it seemed like this guy was making the magic itself disappear.
So, how far could this ability go?
Snap-.
When Franz snapped his fingers, about ten magic circles were drawn in the air. From fire magic to non-attribute magic, he intended to test the opponent’s ability with various spells.
Soon, the magic circles glowed, and a moderately sized fireball was shot.
“Multiple deployments, huh? You have quite a good skill.”
Still wearing a relaxed smile, the opponent said this as he swung his sharp claws. The flying fireball disappeared. As if it had never existed.
But the scene Franz saw was slightly different.
‘Is he interfering with the mana itself?’
The fireball seemed to disappear, but to be precise, it lost its properties and returned to ordinary mana.
Franz made some of the magic circles floating in the air disappear. Since he had figured out the principle of the ability, there was less to test.
The cultist, unaware of Franz’s intentions, seemed to have a serious misunderstanding.
“I thought you might provide some entertainment, but it seems it was just bluster.”
Entertainment…
Did the hunted feel entertained these days?
It would be hard unless one had quite a unique taste.
Franz chuckled and snapped his fingers.
Snap-.
With a crisp sound, compressed air in the shape of a crescent moon was shot from the remaining magic circle. It was a wind spell that cut through anything it touched.
The spell advanced straight towards the figure, who shook his head from side to side upon seeing it.
“You fool, don’t you know it won’t work…?”
He said this as he raised his hand to destroy the spell.
It was at that moment. As Franz moved his fingers, the spell that had been advancing straight shot upwards.
The figure’s hand, having lost its target, swung through the air, and at the same time, something large fell from the ceiling.
It was a stalactite, cut down by Franz’s wind spell.
‘Now, let’s see what you’ll do.’
As expected, the figure had to block or dodge the stalactite. Just because magic didn’t work on him didn’t mean he was physically invincible.
Franz’s thoughts were spot on.
Boom-!
The figure shattered the stalactite into pieces with a swing of his fist.
“To resort to such petty tricks…!”
The figure expressed his anger with a twisted expression. It was the first time the composure had disappeared from his face.
But Franz’s experiment was not yet over.
“I will take your head…”
Just as the figure was about to continue speaking.
A magic circle appeared behind him, and a small fireball was shot straight at him. It wouldn’t cause much damage, just a sting.
Thud-.
But it was enough to shut him up. The figure, hit by the spell, stopped talking and slowly lowered his head.
His occasionally trembling hands revealed his emotions. He was probably quite angry.
Franz, however, didn’t care at all.
‘Only what touches his hands gets nullified.’
So, is the secret in his nails, or in his hands themselves?
Franz’s curiosity was piqued once again, following the red magic stone.
Although other wizards called Franz a magic maniac, he was no different himself. He couldn’t help but get excited in such situations.
‘Well, there’s no choice but to check directly.’
As Franz organized his thoughts, the figure raised his head.
“I will never let you go peacefully…! I will peel your skin off little by little while you’re alive…! And I will throw the remaining flesh to the bugs…! Begging for death later will be useless…!”
The guy was so furious that veins bulged on his forehead, and the whites of his eyes were stained red with burst blood vessels.
Watching him, Franz thought.
‘He looks just like those keyboard warriors you see on the internet.’
All talk and no action, just like them.
Well, at least this one is facing me in person. That’s a bit better than hiding behind anonymity.
Then it happened.
The guy kicked off the ground and charged at Franz. His speed was so incredible that it seemed like he vanished for a moment.
But who was Franz? Though now burdened with work and surrounded by women causing him trouble, he was once a great wizard who had defeated the Demon King.
Dodging the guy’s attack was easier than breaking up a fight between wizards.
In an instant, a magic circle was drawn, and Franz’s form shifted to another location. He had teleported to avoid the attack.
The guy, arriving a moment later at Franz’s previous spot, stopped and burst into laughter as if he had lost his mind.
Then, with a cold expression, he looked at Franz and said.
“…It’s been a long time since I’ve been this angry…”
Getting mad just because his attack was dodged, what a foul temper.
If he were the Tower Master, he wouldn’t last a week before dying of a stroke. Not that he would ever become the Tower Master in the first place.
Anyway, dragging this out wouldn’t do any good, so it was time to wrap things up.
‘Binding him with magic seems difficult…’
Then there’s only one method left. Beat him until he can’t resist anymore. Just enough to not kill him.
Snap.
As Franz snapped his fingers, magic circles appeared all around.
“Do you still think such bluffing will work?”
The guy shouted mockingly. Confident of his victory, a relaxed smile spread across his face.
Franz didn’t respond. Whether it was bluffing or not would soon be clear, so there was no need to answer.
Then, one of the dozens of magic circles activated, and a moderately sized fireball was launched.
“Foolish one.”
The cultist said, swinging his claws at the fireball.
But his claws never made contact.
Boom!
Just before his claws touched it, the fireball exploded.
“Ugh?! What the hell is this…?!”
The sudden explosion left the creature bewildered.
But it was too early to be surprised. The unused magic circles were all around. While they weren’t enough to inflict fatal wounds, with this amount, it was possible to beat it to the brink of death.
Realizing this, the creature hurriedly charged at Franz, but there was no way it could reach him.
Franz used teleportation to easily evade and then unleashed magic upon the creature. Worried that the cave might collapse, he didn’t forget to block the impact on the exterior.
If it dodged one fireball, fireballs would fly from behind and the sides simultaneously, then from the front, and then from the sides again. The creature was helpless against the endlessly pouring fireballs. It was a one-sided ravaging.
How much time had passed like that?
At first, the creature tried to respond somehow, but as time passed, it flailed its arms wildly, and after a little more time, it gave up and curled up on the ground.
Now, it couldn’t even do that and lay on the ground without moving.
‘I must have used magic nearly a thousand times….’
Even though he had controlled his strength, the power of the explosions was considerable. If it were an ordinary person, they would have been knocked out and unable to move with just one hit.
But to endure that a thousand times, its resilience was indeed remarkable.
‘So, what should I do with this creature now….’
Franz approached the creature with his magic aimed at it, just in case.
The creature did not make any particular move, just lying on the ground, breathing weakly.
‘Let’s take it to the cathedral first.’
He had undone the seal of the weapon, and if it lost consciousness like last time, it would be a big problem. If it were attacked in that state, it might never return.
Snap-.
When Franz snapped his fingers, a magic circle was drawn in the air, and chains sprang out.
If he couldn’t carry it through the air, he had no choice but to drag it along.
Surely, the creature would understand his intentions.
Of course, they would never meet again.
By the way, I want to examine this creature’s claws. Should I ask Justia if I can get them?
Honestly, I don’t want to pull them out myself, so I’d rather leave it to an expert.
