The Villainous Young Master’s Life in Another World - Chapter 42
42
After taking her first life, her courage grew steadily. She questioned them incessantly as she killed, becoming more insane and more adept at it, relentlessly using murder to vent her inner grievances and fury.
After about ten minutes, most of the younger generation had been nearly wiped out.
Violet approached an elderly man with the knife and hesitated briefly.
“Miss, don’t kill me, I don’t have many years left, let me live out my remaining years in peace,” he pleaded.
Seeing Violet waver again, Gu Ming stepped forward and said,
“To seek revenge, you need to look the part. Are you going to spare this murderer just because this old coot is playing on his age?”
“But. “
“There’s nothing to be done, this person must not be left alive.”
Gu Ming grabbed her hand, and the long knife pierced into the old man’s body along her hand. The old man let out a scream and then stopped breathing.
The old people were about to start killing themselves, their will to survive quickly shifting their direction as they began cursing Gu Ming.
“You demon, young girl, don’t be deceived by him.”
“Yes, that person is a demon, don’t believe her.”
“…”
Gu Ming didn’t care about what they said. Their mouths were on them; they could say whatever they wanted.
Everyone else was going to die anyway, so let them curse a few times. But Gu Ming still had a sense of revenge. With Virellette by his side, he first slaughtered those few who cursed the most viciously. And when he killed them, he even thoughtfully gave Virellette reasons to kill them.
“This one screams too much; this person must not be left alive.” *snap*
“This one looks too disgusting; this person must not be left alive.” *snap*
“This one looks too old; this person must not be left alive.” *snap*
“…”
The insults and pleas for mercy stopped as the killings continued until there was blood flowing like a river on the ground. Most people were already dead at this point; only around twenty children remained in the corner.
Although Virellette had already killed many people before, she found it difficult to harm children. When she worked at the monastery before, she also had a job taking care of children. Seeing them cry made Virellette involuntarily drop her knife.
Gu Ming picked it up for her and placed it back in her hand gently. She pleaded,
“Can we spare them? They are still so young.”
Only if Gu Ming agreed could she do so – as if that would give her an excuse to spare them. Gu Ming smiled kindly and said,
“Sure thing! I have some candy here – you give each of them a choice between the knife and candy. Whoever chooses correctly will be spared – how does that sound?”
Virellette indeed took the candy and went over to find those group of children again.
Gu Ming watched behind her like this.
The first child kept crying, and Gu Ming hated to send him down below with a single blow.
For the remaining children, after Gu Ming explained the severity to them and gave them the first example, they obediently began to make their choices.
Vivian approached the second child and let him choose. He chose the knife, and Gu Ming used magic to control Vivian’s hand holding the knife towards the child. Then he calmly explained,
“He chose the knife, indicating he has murderous intent towards you. This child must not be spared.”
Vivian didn’t say anything either. She approached the third child, who was about to choose candy when Vivian’s hand uncontrollably stabbed him with a knife.
Vivian questioned,
“Why? Didn’t he choose candy?”
Gu Ming shook his head and explained,
“He chose candy, indicating he is very cunning. This child must not be spared.”
The fourth one chose two items; unsurprisingly, the knife stabbed in again. Gu Ming’s explanation was,
“He chose both items, indicating greediness. This child must not be spared.”
The remaining people saw that no matter what they chose they would die; they immediately dared not choose anymore. Seeing that Gu Ming had not acted for a long time, even Vivian herself thought they had chosen correctly but reality would soon tell her she was gravely mistaken.
For those children who did not choose anything left over, Gu Ming directly turned them into blood mist using magic and gave an explanation,
“They both did not choose anything which indicates inherent rebelliousness. These children must not be spared.”
If villagers were to complain about it, they would definitely say something like “You are truly ordering takeout as a giant panda does – right on point!”
After everyone died off completely Vivian did not blame Gu Ming for anything; she knew who was looking out for her best interests clearly enough. However after getting revenge she felt lost and couldn’t see her future anymore.
“Why is it that after I’ve avenged myself I haven’t found peace but instead feel even sadder?”
With red eyes Vivian spoke in a pained tone with some choking emotion
“What have we done wrong for the heavens to punish us so? Even now, I feel like I’m living in an unreal dream, a nightmare as deep as the abyss. In this dream, I can only watch helplessly as everything unfolds. I really can’t accept this.”
Gu Ming sighed. To be honest, such things are not uncommon in this world. She was neither the first nor the last. Revenge is not something to be happy about.
After revenge, one often feels emptiness. The people and things lost will never return.
The greatest sorrow is a dead heart, and all Gu Ming could do was ensure she never harbored thoughts of giving up on life.
“You’re not wrong, none of you are. It’s the human heart that’s truly at fault.
People’s prejudices are like mountains, immovable no matter how hard you try.”
Violet looked at him with tearful eyes, as if he was her only way out.
Gu Ming, seeing her hopeful gaze, placed his hand on her forehead and said,
“Faith is not a god; it never saves anyone. The only one who can save you is yourself. Live well, for death is not an escape.”
“Everyone is dead, and I’ve become an executioner. How do you expect me to continue living in this world?”
Gu Ming stepped forward to embrace her, smoothing her back with his hand, a gesture all too familiar to a seasoned playboy.
“If living in this world is a sin, then I should be judged the same. If your heart truly can’t bear it anymore, I can be your new family, lend you my shoulder to lean on. Live on, for those who have died, for yourself, and if you wish, for me too.”
“Do I really still deserve to live?”
“Of course. Good people don’t live long, but trouble lasts for a thousand years. You and I are both villains, but even villains can live brilliantly and happily together.”
Gu Ming wasn’t wrong. In this world, their roles were that of villains. Seeing her heartbroken state, he felt a kinship, as if they were both outcasts with a shared destiny.
Violet clung to Gu Ming’s back, seeking the warmth of his body as if only that could truly warm her cold heart. In a moment of deep emotion, she bit down hard on his neck.
“Please don’t abandon me, darling.”
Darling? That title seemed incorrect. “Miss, it seems we’ve just met. I must correct you.”
Suddenly, Gu Ming felt something was amiss. A surge of demonic energy, the strongest he had ever felt, heated his body and left him feeling thirsty. Looking at Violet’s delicate face, he felt an urge to bite.
Mentally reciting the Clear Heart Mantra, he regained his composure. Then, he understood the cause and effect. it must be the residual energy of a succubus.
Because the sin of lust failed to possess Violet successfully, a part of its energy remained within her body, granting Violet a portion of its power.
This is why demons prefer to possess people in their moments of despair. In fact, Gu Ming should have realized why, even after the demon had left, Violet’s succubus appearance did not vanish.
“Damn, I’ve been had. Always swatting flies, and today, blinded by the fly’s craft. I won’t accept this. If you dare, let’s battle it out for three hundred rounds without any tricks.”
Entering the ancient temple at dawn, the first sunlight bathes the tall woods. The winding path leads to a secluded spot, where the meditation chambers are deep amidst flowers and trees. The mountain light pleases the birds, the pond’s reflection empties the heart. All sounds are hushed here, save for the lingering bell and chime.
A night brimming with vitality cements Gu Ming’s title as ‘Darling.’
