Time Mansour - Chapter 143

Episode 143 Just
**
One summer. The outdoor air conditioner unit whines to find its mate. It hangs on the wall of a building and turns on the fan day and night.
**
The place where I met the PD was a cafe near my house. A man came into the cafe, sweating profusely. After looking around, he found me and bowed his head slightly.
“Hello. This is Lee Dong-cheol.”
After receiving the PD’s business card, I searched through my pockets. But there was nothing in my hand. I forgot to bring my business card. Instead of taking the business card, I shook his hand and sat down.
“Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it. I heard that Youngjun never does interviews. I didn’t think he would readily agree to filming.”
“Me?”
“Yes. Youngjun, you have a mystic vibe.”
The PD smiled and put the backpack he was carrying on his shoulder down on the seat next to him.
“Mystic is too much of a facade. Let’s just be more shy.”
“You are as humble as the rumors say.”
“No. Not humility···”
I couldn’t think of anything else to say, so I scratched my head and trailed off.
This PD snickers while looking at me like that.
“Anyway, you thought it through well. People will be curious about Youngjun’s story.”
While answering, he took out his laptop one by one.
“I need to interview you in advance. I have something to ask you. I heard that you spent your childhood in an orphanage.”
“Not when I was really young. After I was 11.”
While answering the PD’s question, I stopped talking without realizing it.
Wait a minute. Are you really 11? Mom. When did Mom leave? The more I tried to force myself to remember, the deeper I hid.
There were more things I didn’t remember than things I did remember.
So every time the PD asked about the past, well, well, I couldn’t help but repeat the same answer.
“At this rate, there won’t be much left to write about my childhood. Is there anyone around you who might remember it?”
“Not when I was very young, but I had friends in middle and high school.”
“Then I’ll interview them and put them together later.”
As I nodded, the PD looked at the questionnaire on the screen and continued asking questions.
“Did you think that because of your unfortunate upbringing in an orphanage, you wanted to help people in need after becoming successful?”
“No. I never thought of myself as being unfortunate. No. Looking back, that was the best time. I lived without any worries.”
“Then, was there a separate reason why someone who had been on a smooth upward path turned down a job offer from a global company and suddenly started creating a donation app?”
“I disagree. I disagree. I never set out to be successful from the beginning. It was just an uphill climb.”
“As I was walking, I realized it was an uphill road···”
A PD typing on his laptop and writing something down.
“Yes. I just went there because there was a way to do it. The same goes for the donation app. There was no special reason.”
After answering, I felt it instinctively.
‘This will be edited.’
Because from the PD’s perspective, it was a really boring answer.
“There’s nothing special about it. It’s just a point that can make an impact.”
“No. I was actually a bit surprised because my plan and Youngjun’s image matched so well.”
“yes?”
“That’s right. Since when did the world become such that people need a reason to help others? Just. Just help. It’s actually so natural to lend a hand when someone is having a hard time.”
Then he shows a bitter smile.
Maybe because he’s someone who’s been around broadcasting, he’s good at organizing content. That’s what I wanted to say.
I don’t know why helping someone has to involve such grand words as sacrifice or belief.
‘just.’
Those two letters are more than enough to explain why people help others.
**
The sweltering heat has eased. Relatively cool weather arrives once every two days.
As time passed, this director was now quite busy working.
“Don’t your back hurt when you look at your laptop in that position?”
But there was one thing that didn’t change.
This manager always works in the same posture.
I was lying face down on the bed, tapping away at my laptop.
“I’m still young. Unlike Youngjun.”
He always adds unnecessary details. At those words, I squinted my eyes and glared at the director.
“··· Should I move the desk, sir? You won’t need this if you work there.”
I tapped my foot on the desk next to me.
“No, I can’t. I have to play games with the kids. It’s inconvenient to play games on a laptop.”
Director Lee answers that it is so obvious.
A guy who has never been to a PC room in his life recently started playing games with his kids. If that’s growth, then it’s growth.
After staring at it for a while, I put my hands on the keyboard to get back to work.
“What is this? It’s a library I’ve never seen before. Is there really a library that you haven’t used?”
This time, Manager Chae, who was standing next to me, stuck his head out.
“I think there is no Spring library. I developed a few applications by myself.”
“As expected, if you work hard consistently, you will grow in anything. The director used to be someone whose weakness was speed. But it looks like that weakness has become a strength.”
I couldn’t answer Manager Chae’s words right away.
Whether it’s true or not.
I couldn’t bring myself to tell someone to put in the effort.
So I was hesitating for a moment.
Director Lee, who had been lying down, raises his head and joins our conversation.
“Everyone says so. Is Youngjun’s development speed that fast?”
“Yes. If we’re just going for speed… I don’t think there are any developers in the US who can do this much.”
A bitter smile appeared on my face without me realizing it as I watched the conversation between Director Lee and Manager Chae.
I thought it would be impossible to run the app alone without my sister’s room.
But before I knew it, I had gotten used to it and was able to handle it on my own.
This is the result of the spring code being written over the disk where the memories were saved.
Because erased memories can be restored, overwritten memories cannot be restored.
‘Mom and older sister. I’m the only one in this world who remembers those two.’
But if I forget, won’t my mother and sister become people who never existed in this world in the first place? That fear grew bigger and bigger.
The room my older sister left behind. It means to forget the painful memories of the past and start a new life.
Even if that’s what you meant when you left this room for me.
But still, I didn’t want to forget everything just like that.
Even though I say that my memories with my older sister are nothing but resentment and regret.
Even that was a precious memory that I didn’t have much left.
Maybe that’s why.
Even though the weather had become quite cool, I was reluctant to go into my sister’s room.
I gritted my teeth and pounded on the keyboard to overcome this situation on my own without relying on my sister’s help.

The cicada fell like a leaf. After finding its mate, it sheds its skin and returns to the ground.
It was one day towards the end of summer when I got a call from PD again.
-I’m on my way to the office now.
After checking the message from the PD, I glanced at Director Lee. Ding. Ding. Director Lee was lying in bed, snoring.
-Today’s filming location. Can we change the order a bit? Let’s film at my house first, and then go to the office.
After sending the message, I woke up the manager.
“Ah. Why?”
“Documentary team. We’re here to film now. Wipe off the stains and come to your senses.”
“Huh? Already? Has that much time passed?”
The director suddenly sat up.
“I’ll go out and kill some time. Send me a message when you’re ready.”
After speaking to the director, I went outside the building and waited for the filming crew. I raised my hand when I saw a group of people coming from afar with their equipment.
Then, to guide us to our house, I took the stairs down to the basement.
“Wait a minute, is this the right way?”
The PD’s suspicious voice was heard from behind.
“Yes. This is our house.”
“This is the actual living space… right?”
The question was whether it was a show house. I smiled and nodded to that question.
“Yes. The only real estate in my name is this house and the welfare facility next to it.”
As soon as I finished speaking, a faint smile appeared on the PD’s lips.
An old semi-basement villa. It’s quite shabby for a successful developer’s nest.
I think it would be good to add a story to the ‘just’ planning intention that I had in mind.
I pressed the front door password and went inside the house.
“The house is very tidy.”
PD looking around the house while smiling. And the filming crew.
It’s been a long time since the house was bustling with people. Or maybe it was the first time.
After taking a picture of the living room, I opened my sister’s room door.
In an instant, pink waves pour down from all directions.
The PD tilted his head at the sight.
“I thought you weren’t married···”
“Yes. This was originally my sister’s room.”
“Sister? Oh, then now···”
“yes that’s right.”
“Did you get along well with each other?”
“no.”
After giving a short answer, I hesitated whether to be honest or not.
“I always wished my sister would die.”
I made up my mind for a moment and then spoke my truth. The PD and staff looked at me with surprised faces at what I said.
“My older sister was not feeling well. So she was a shackle on my life… I lived my whole life thinking that way.”
I regret that so much. I should have done a little better. No, I shouldn’t have held any grudges. I wonder if you still haven’t forgotten this feeling of regret. Something was gathered in your eyes.
As my nose started to tingle, I heard the sound of a camera lens turning.
After sniffling for a while, I turned on my phone camera to check the face.
-I’m ready.
As soon as I turned on my phone, I got a call from this manager.
Now there was no need to tie up the camera crew.
I went into the bathroom and ripped off some toilet paper.
**
As I opened the office door and entered, the director was sitting at his desk. Every time he typed on the keyboard, his neatly tied hair swayed from side to side. In the meantime, the smell of shampoo permeated the office, as if he had just washed his hair.
‘Isn’t the setting a bit… excessive?’
I suppressed the urge to say something, remembering that there was a camera behind me.
“This is our office. This is Director Lee. He helps with things like public relations and accounting.”
When I introduced myself like that, Director Lee turned his head. He must have put on makeup or something was on his lips.
The director and the producer pretended to know each other with their eyes.
After seeing that, I was thinking that Director Lee would also be featured in the documentary.
suddenly.
“It’s often said that money is everything in life. So, in these times when there is a lot of content about success, why is Youngjun the only one going against the grain?”
The PD asked a leading question.
I turned my head reflexively at those words.
“No. You shouldn’t go the opposite way alone.”
The data proves it. The concurrent users graph was displayed on the monitor screen in the dashboard for app monitoring.
“What is this?”
“People who think that money isn’t everything in life.”
Money is just a part of life. There are more people who dream of happiness for everyone than those who desire individual success. At least that’s what I believed.
“These are the number of concurrent users on our app.”
I tapped the graph on the monitor screen as if I was knocking with my hand. The warm hearts of an unspecified number of people were steadily moving upward through the LAN cable.
